Lots of** changes in the Battleteams** so PLEASE check your dossier on djb.org to make sure of your position. I have transferred all non-Phyle people into Dragon Guard or am waiting for them to complete requirements to be placed into Drynwyn's Flame. We also gained a new official EC Tyro, Dierdre Varn. Good luck with your progress there, Dierdre - talk to your Master or new Tetrarch and they will let you know how you can progress further in your training.

Tetrarchs especially, please check your rosters and get in touch with new people, let them know what's going on. I also need to hear from each Phyle on what training/promotion requirements they will be using. Ebon Cloak has a program in place, but DG and DF need to either set up their own or model one after EC's. I want everyone to know exactly what they need to do to get those promotions.

Attention MASTERS of students!!! Help your student progress - make sure they know what they need to do to get promoted! Contact me or your student's Tetrarch for details - especially Ebon Cloak peoples' masters, please get in touch with J`Lek and Tirna asap.

**CLAN FEUD!!!

**This is priority #1 at the moment. Participation in the Feud will count for those needing to complete Tetrarch's Tasks in order to be promoted... There will also be the possibility of participation in multiple Feud events getting "extra credit." Get in touch with me to work out details if necessary.

__ **Drynwyn's Flame Report:

A dreadlock of jet black hair, streaked with tendrils of electric blue like some hirsute version of blue-vein cheese, fell across Khaen's face as his fingers flew over the keyboard. He tried futilely to blow the lock from his face, then reached up to tuck it back into its place with a sigh.

Falling back into his chair with a second deeper sigh, Khaen resigned himself to failure. "I give up," he muttered to himself.

The new Drynwyn's Flame elite phyle Tetrarch had been trying to hunt down the meaning of the word Drynwyn on the Holonet for two hours, with no success. Just who or what was this "Drynwyn" that the elite phyle of House Acclivis Draco took its name from? He had not wanted to approach Quaestor Sabe or any of the other clan leaders, a reticence grown not just from pride but also from a desire to research things for himself, a quality present and infinitely desirable in most students of history.

Hearing a nearby door swish open, Khaen stopped feeling sorry for himself and got up to see who had entered.

He grinned when he saw his new XO, Guardian Aeishline Strathaven. She had been out and about making plans for the entrance trials for prospective elite tyros. Until more members transferred into Drynwyn's Flame, it was just Aeishline and Khaen inhabitating the elite quarters.

"Hey, Aeish," greeted Khaen, flicking the lights on with a wave of his hand. He liked to work in the dark.

"What's up, Tetrarch?" the young human woman replied, flopping with a sigh on the couch.

Khaen shrugged. "Pretty bored actually."

A grin formed on Aeishline's pretty (by human standards anyway) face. "Want to do the usual?"

Khaen smiled. "Sure."

*Fiction continued*

"Cool, I'll get the equipment," Aeishline said, walking over to a storage cupboard.

Khaen raised his arm with a swiping motion, and the assorted junk on a coffee table at the other side of the room fell to the floor. MSE droids would sort it out later. With a series of fluid movements of his right hand, Khaen lifted the table through the air and deposited it between the two couches of the phyle's rec room. Most Dark Jedi preferred to perform telekinesis without any physical gestures as accompaniment, but Khaen had his origins in rudimentary 'magic' study as a member of the secluded Djeth sect in Chiss territory and had learned basic telekinesis accompanied by archaic gestures. He had never been able to leave this habit behind, nor did he want to; it gave an air of mysticism and romance to an otherwise grisly profession.

"Here we go," announced Aeishline, returning with a box containing the equipment needed to play sabacc.

"Let the games begin!" Khaen said with a clap of his hands.

__ **Ebon Cloak Report:

It was a clear night on Heimdall, moon of planet Njord. But then, it nearly always was. The windows of Dragon Keep, the former halls of House Acclivis Draco, were closed, keeping the light and festivities of a small but quite celebratory party inside.

Protector Tirna Q'jira stood near the front of the room, watching the Tyros of Ebon Cloak enjoy themselves. And why should they not? Their Tetrarch and Dark Hand had taken the House competition, and their had been two promotions in the past weeks. Herself included.

Self-consciously Tirna adjusted her new robes. The blue of Protector reminded her of the Obelisk, but then the next rank--Guardian--was not much better. Still, she was moving along the ranks quickly...

"Tirna."

It was Alarr, J'Lek's current head Steward. "Yes, Alarr?" the Protector replied, turning to face him.

"I think it is time you made your report. J'Lek's waiting on you."

Tirna nodded. "Yes. Yes, it is time." She smiled towards him. "Thank you, Alarr," she replied, adjusting her robes one last time as he nodded, turning to walk off. She herself turned and began moving towards the very front of the room and taking what could only be deemed center stage she clapped her hands and called for silence.

"These past few weeks have seen much victory for Ebon Cloak. As many of you know I am sure your Tetrarch took second place in the House Competition--" she hid a smile "--and I took first." She paused a moment to let this fact settle into their minds. "We have also had a few promotions. Novice Ktulu, I

congratulate you on your promotion to Acolyte."

Her gaze swept the tiny crowd. There were only the ten other Tyros and a handful of servants about, but she still wanted to make a mark. "For those of you who are as yet unaware, Clan Scholae Palatinae is now feuding with Clan Satal Keto. I expect all of you to participate in some way, no matter how small. Even a single Tyro can tip the scales in balance to our favor. You may only be a single member of one House, but our efforts at working together will be what causes our victory in the end. More information will be available with this weeks orders."

A gesture caught her eye and she glanced towards it. It was Alarr, with J'Lek not far behind. Apparently it was time for her to end this. "And now, with your kind grace and permission--" she let a faintly sarcastic smile fall from her lips "--your Tetrarch has some words of his own. Master Arcanos, I believe we are ready for you," she called out even as she took her decent from the platform at the top of the room.

J'Lek nodded at the recently-promoted Protector as she finished her report. "Thank you, Protector Q'jira."

He took a moment to survey those assembled before him. There were many reasons to be proud of his people this week, and it was only fitting that they would celebrate. Still, they had matters to discuss first.

"My Tyros, overall, I would say that we have had a good week this week. I regret, however, that after some discussion between myself and the House Summit, it was decided that Protector Caligatio was expressing a complete lack of interest in participating in House and Phyle activities. Because of this, Caligatio's belongings have been transferred to Rogue Jedi quarters on Aurora Prime. It is our hope that he will rejoin our House when he is once again ready to train in the Dark Side."

"With Caligatio's departure, however, came an open spot in the phyle's roster. Because of this, I am able to welcome Novice Adian Pryde back from his leave and into the official ranks of the Ebon Cloak phyle." J'Lek nodded at the Novice. "Adian, as you had just finished all but your final requirement at the time you went on leave, I've arranged for your final task to begin when you are ready."

"As you have heard, we are in a feud with another clan. I want this to be Ebon Cloak's finest hour. As an incentive, whoever participates in the Feud will have one of their Tetrarch's Tasks marked as complete. If I haven't yet given you a task, then I'll make note of your participation for my records in the future. I will note that the Quaestor and Aedile and I will discuss everyone's participation. If we see some exceptional participation from one of you, we might just decide to knock off a few other requirements towards your promotions."

"Also, our first phyle monthly competition is now underway. As the House just did a competition about the Future, we shall now hold a competition about the past. Specific instructions will be posted with this week's orders."

The door to the hall opened for a brief moment, letting in a few late arrivals as J'Lek called up the week's orders...

Specter of the Past:

Seeing as House Acclivis Draco did a competition on the Future we have decided to do one about the Past. Using either prose or poetry compose a story of something that has happened in your characters past that dramatically affected who they are today. If done in prose at least two pages of single-spaced text are needed. If in poetry, it needs to be at least thirty lines long. Both may be submitted in either plain text, HTML, or Rich Text Format. Please do not submit any Word documents if it can be avoided. Up to two submissions may be entered, one of prose and one of poetry, but you may not submit two pieces of the same type (IE: two poems).

Also, as an added note, all submissions will be going up on the Phyle website for others to read. This is not meant to embarrass anyone, but rather to show off all the hard effort your put into your work. If you are

truly against it being placed up on the website you may say so, but any submission that is received and does not hold such a request will be placed up on the website after the competition is over.

Medals will be awarded for First, Second, and Third Place, as follows:

First Place (Prose and Poetry): Sapphire Star (Cr-1S)

Second Place (Prose and Poetry): Emerald Star (Cr-1E)

Third Place (Prose and Poetry): Topaz Star (Cr-1G)

"I wish to congratulate you on your completion of all of your requirements for promotion. You are the second person to be promoted to Acolyte under our Training Program and a good example for the phyle's Novices. I look forward to seeing how well you handle the task that your Master will set before you. Go and walk with the Dark Side."

"Protector Tirna Q'jira. Please step forward."

"You completed the Acolyte requirements for promotion with your usual standards of excellence. I commend your efforts as the phyle's Dark Hand, and I know that you will continue to be an example to the rest of the phyle. Never let up in your efforts to advance. May you see the Darkness that you seek."

"Unless there are any questions, I'll let everyone get back to the party." He spoke a low word to Alarr. "As an added treat, I though I'd arrange a bit of a show." The windows, formerly closed and shuttered against the night, began to reveal the outside world.

And as the Tetrarch of the Ebon Cloak Phyle stepped down from the platform, a fireworks display filled the night sky, much to the amazement of all, except, of course, anyone who was expecting such a cliché ending...
