Krath Tetrarch Report

Tetrarch Daavak "Tronsta" Cantor reporting in for the Angels of Death Phyle, House Aleema of Satal Keto

October 4, 2002 Report #3

Master Shups stood in a field of short grass, the evening sky light blue from the falling sun. He gazed upon his target with dire intent. He fired his lightsaber and sneered. His opponent followed suit. The two robed figures stared at each other, waiting to see who would make the first move. Shups felt a tingle in the back of his mind. His enemy was touching his consciousness in an attempt to knock him out! Shups sneered in anger and charged at his victim. The other followed suit once again.

Sabers clashed and the two held their positions, vying for position. Shups looked at his hooded opponent, calmly holding back the assault. The figure suddenly broke free, performing a gambit that gave Shups a large chunk of forward area to move too. But suddenly, Shups realized the trick. He parried unnaturally fast to block a solid swipe towards his head. Grinning at the effort, Shups pushed the enemy backwards with a bit of Force strike and assaulted once again. The robed figure was ready but off balance.

Parry after parry, block after block. The hooded Jedi defended well but his lack of better balance soon caught up with him. He tripped on a small rock and fall backwards, hitting the ground hard. Shups moved in for the kill but was surprised to find the figure back on his feet almost as quickly as he had left them. The figure stood in wait, seemingly to anticipate Shups' next move. Shups decided to wait it out, patiently. After all, if a Krath could not exhibit patience, who could? The figure this time could not wait. He charged.

Shups parried a well placed swing aimed at his knees, then another aimed at his neck. Once again, the two warriors caught their blades in a stalemate. The hooded figure could hide himself no longer. In the struggle, his hood slipped away revealing the grinning countenance of Daavak Cantor.

"I thought we weren't using Force powers, Master Shups." Daavak said with a slight chuckle.

"We were not supposed to. But I felt that little knock out strike you gave me before. Trying to end the battle before it was even started eh?" Shups shoot back with a laugh of his own. Daavak could not argue with that. He laughed aloud. He once again broke the hold by giving Shups the area advantage. The two stood in rigid stances, awaiting the next move.

"Not bad, Daavak. I don't think you'll have too much to worry about for the Master/Student competition. Your saber skills seem competent enough."

"I'm not looking for competent, Master. I'm looking for winning." Daavak ran in and assaulted his QUA once again. A fine flurry of blows was blocked but impressed Shups. The Daavak jumped back once again.

"It's been years since I used this thing. I'm betting I can simply crush the majority of opponents at the competition with but a thought! Saber is unimportant to me." Daavak said.

"There are many times when Force along cannot win a battle, Young Epis. And for those times, the saber ends all. I'm sure you would not want to be on the wrong side of an Obelisk's blade."

"Ha! An Obelisk chooses to forsake his try power, that which is complete and utter control of the Force! I've defeated plenty of weak minded Dark Jedi who choose to devote their lives to the blade rather than the mind."

"Perhaps, Daavak. But you know good and well you will be facing many Krath in this event. Krath like me who surpass you in Force ability, and therefore have a stark advantage over you in saber fighting. But even though the ability is there, many Krath have forsaken the blade, which could give YOU the advantage. Do not give up any training, especially for this event."

Daavak didn't like the sound of that. It was the truth though. He admitted it. He turned off his saber and looked down.

"You're right. I'll need all avenues of ability to win."

"To win!? I admire your confidence Daavak, but the competition hasn't even begun. What makes you think you'll even have a chance to..."

Daavak lurched forward, his saber springing to life. He feinted upward, causing Shups to expect a swing from the top. But with lightning speed, Daavak changed his attack and swung midward. The blade came through Shups defenses and stopped short from slicing him through his gut. Shups looked down and saw his mistake. Daavak looked up and grinned once again.

"Call it a hunch, my Master. Call it a hunch."
