HOUSE MARKA RAGNOS

WEEKLY REPORT #24

OCTOBER 25TH, 2002

PROLOGUE

J`Rai sat in his office sitting next to Khevron, his loyal assistant and bodyguard. He shuffled through inventory reports, phyle reports, and item requests. All of which were piled on his desk in a heap.

"I don't know why I put up with this crap." He said to Khevron. "Do you?" His friend shrugged. "That's what I thought. Now let's see, where did I leave off?" He asked to noone in particular as a knock sounded on his door. "Enter." Tomaas and Ghost Angel walked in, each of them out of breath.

"J, we got a problem." GA said with her hands on her knees.

"So why aren't you two dealing with it?"

"He's too powerful, we can't stop him."

"Who's too powerful?"

"I'm sorry J. It's my fault. I thought that if I took him for a walk that he'd actually like me. But I was wrong. He threw me against the wall and......he violated me." Tomaas said, tears streaming down his face. "He never touched me, but i could feel his mind probing me."

"What? Who?" Before he finished asking he knew the answer. "You let him out of his cage, without me present to control him? You're supposed to be a Krath Priest, Tomaas, not an inexperienced Apprentice." He stood and Khevron handed him his saber. "Take me to him."

The three left the office in search of the cause of the ruckus. "This is gonna be one of those weeks." He said as his door shut, leaving Khevron alone to ponder."

HOUSE NEWS:

It's been a slow week in the Quaestor's office so this should be brief. I've recieved reports from both the Aedile and NH Tetrarch and I am pleased. However, I have recieved very few submissions for my monthly writing competition. Just remember, by not submitting anything all month, you've earned yourself an all expenses paid trip to the Rogues. But don't think that writing something gets you off the hook right off the bat. No, you still have to write something for the end of the month AWOL check. This also counts towards your point total. And yes, If I do not write something, I will AWOL myself. I will step down as QUA and leave HMR. This is how serious I am about writing.

I have recently aquired not so old copies of 'The Writer' and 'Writer's Digest' magazines from my current place of employment. I have been reading through some of them and have looked at all of their headlines. Believe me when I say that I think some of the content may be able to help us with writing. It has already helped me out with the book I am writing. Anything that really helps me out will be compiled and thrown on a webpage for all to use. I will put the date and name of the magazine after each entry so that if you wish you can go to your local library and look at the articles. I know we recycle our magazines every 6 months or so for this title, i'm not sure how your libraries do it.

I am proud to announce that the Arch Magus Combat Tournament is almost over. It hasn't been as big a success as I expected it would, but hey, it's only the first one. There will be others and now that Trev is here, we should have lots of interest in these types of events. Maybe we can even bring the championship from the Krath Order home to Naga Sadow. But I don't want to see Trev as the only winner, I actually want to see someone beat him. :P

As you can see by the above Prologue, I have added a fiction portion to my reports. Each week will be a different chapter in an ongoing story about the weekly routines of the Quaestor and this house. I hope it entertains you and I would like to see feedback. Please, no criticisms on the egroup, send all critiques to my personal inbox, don't flood anyone elses. At the end of the month, the compiled chapters will be submitted as a fiction and be able to be viewed on the MB Library Archive. It will only count as a story 1 page and under since each chapter will be very short. I will only give myself 5 points for the whole compilation. No matter how long it is. A listing of what is worth how many points will follow in the competitions section of the report.

Our Murder Mystery League is progressing. So far our writing team is composed of Ghost Angel, Tomaas, Myself, and Lavar. I'd like to see others help us solve, but right now, I think we can handle the writing portion. If you still wish to participate in this portion, please confer with Ghost Angel and/or Tomaas. They are basically in charge of what's going on with it. Details will never, i repeat, never be discussed openly on IRC or on the Egroups. Anyone caught violating that rule, will be met with severe punishment from myself. As you all know, we have people from other clans who frequent our channels. Past members who still enjoy our company. And also, others who have achieved an honored status of our house are still on our egroup. I trust them, but still, they are only human and may be tempted. :P

Speaking of IRC, we have a clan channel. #naga_sadow for those who don't know, but we also have a house channel. #HMR. If you are in #naga_sadow, I EXPECT YOU TO BE IN #HMR AS WELL. I may say things in that channel that do not get mentioned in the clan channel, therefore you will not know about it unless you are in both. I also leave little messages that are important, in the topic of #HMR. And there's no bots so you can say anything you want without fear of me or anyone else kicking your ass all over Loki. I may plan to hold weekly or monthly meetings there, but I want everyone to frequent it, even if you just idle.

CLAN NEWS:

As I'm sure you all know by now, Goatham beat me in the KCC fight we had recently. It was a deserved win and I commend him. For a sith to compete in a Krath fight and actually win is astonishing. Perhaps we should all give him a case of wine as a congratulatory gift? (hint towards last year's wine incident on IRC, ask Malik for a log :P)

Arion is doing a good job as PCON and I'm sorry I had to withdraw from our KCC Ladder match, but I felt that I was not in the best of moods to compete anymore. My fighting was being affected because of several reasons, which may or may not have caused Goat to beat me. We'll never really know unless I fight him again. And I probably will, some day.

More Clan news will be revealed in the CON and PCON reports.

ORDER NEWS:

Krath High Priest Report

Posted By DJM Mairin Astoris - 10/19/2002

Apologies for the lateness of the report, I went out to dinner last night and didn't have time to get online to write this during the day at all. If it makes any difference, dinner was lovely, and I need to figure out how to make rocket pesto.

1: The Murder Mystery League kicks off TOMORROW. The first phase will last for two weeks and involves Houses collaborating internally to write a single murder mystery scenario, complete with dead body, clues, and killer. Providing the actual dead body is optional. ;) Your QUA or AED should co-ordinate the discussion and writing of the scenario, and should also be responsible for sending it in to me.

Phase 2 will be involve solving the mysteries that other Houses have written, so if you solve a mystery keep it under your hat!

Full rules will be sent to your QUAs and AEDs today to forward on down to you. The top placed House will receive the Sword of the Avenger, the second placed House will receive the Ring of Wrath.

2: Monthly Topics continue. If you don't know what they are, ask your QUA/AED or come to me. They're due in on 31st October at 11.59pm EST.

3: Can I remind everyone in the Krath that we now have a new resource in the Combat Centre so kindly coded by KP CyberGuy and JH JaM3z. You will find it at http://www.minos.net/~mairin/combat. You can sign up and get started fighting people straight away. As Combat writing of this nature is likely to feature heavily in such competitions as the Krath Wargame and future vendettas, signing up here and getting used to the rules, the character sheets, and the style of others' fighting will be invaluable. Go forth, sign up... It's good fun and, even better, you get to kick the crap out of people. What better way to spend your weekend? :P

4: Following votes on the Krath Summit mailing list, I'm currently working on a structured plan for the promotion and reward of Quaestors and Aediles. This will be debated on the Summit list once done, and additions and changes incorporated. Once complete, it will be submitted to the MAA, DGM and GM for approval.

Murder Mystery League 2 Open

Posted by DJM Mairin Astoris - 10/20/2002 [2:53:34 AM]

The Murder Mystery League 2 is now open. Details have been sent to your Quaestors and Aediles, so they should be sending them out to you shortly.

Phase 1 is the writing of your scenario, which will later be "solved" by other Houses. You will have two weeks to write the scenario, and it is due by 11.59pm on Saturday 2nd November.

Phase 2 will entail solving the mysteries of other Houses and will start on 3rd November.

The first placed House will win the Sword of the Avenger and the second placed House will win the Ring of Wrath.

Acclivis Draco took first place last year - can they hold onto it, or will someone else reign victorious? Stay tuned to find out. :P

  • Winners of the naming contest are as follows:

Keepsake - 1st Place - Ghost Angel

Bloodlust - 2nd Place - Malik

Black Ascendant - 3rd Place - Khobai

** Moment of notice **

  • IRC won't connect from this location. If anyone needs

to talk to me, I'm on AIM often enough. SN-

GhousteAngel. For the time being, I will try and have

MSN up as often as possible. SN-Ghost Angel.

** ~~Tet's points of

concentration~~**

This upcoming feud with Alvaak and Talydran is going to start

soon. We are only 7 people in the house now, and I don't want the

people under our battle phyle slacking. I've read Tomaas's

suggestions over, I will repost them for convenience below if you

haven't read his report already.

  • Prepare drafts for a number of short episodes.

Whatever the Feud will turn out to be about, it is

good to have a few pages of combat scenes or other

exciting moments crafted BEFORE.

  • Try to ease a bit on social and other EH-wide life

matters. Of course, school and other important

things have priority.

  • Try to participate in ALL events, no matter if

these are tough or seem particularily bloody stupid

to you - just give it a try.

  • Ideas from the Tetrarch: If you're having trouble

with an idea, consult with the other members of

the house. TALK to the people you share your house

with, I'm sure some are more than happy to help give ideas

if you're stuck.

From J'Rai - "I need a team to work on the Murder Mystery

League. I'm sure like last year, that there will be heavy rewards

for participation, and I may even throw in some stuff if we do well.

Trev, I definitely would like to see you work on this. :P Last

year's team was made up of Khobai, Alex, Voranyen, and myself for the

writing, and a few others helped with the solving. I'm gonna try and

get a copy of our MML from last year so you guys can see how much fun

it is."

  • If you have any suggestions and can't reach Tomaas

or J'Rai, contact me.

** ~~Conclusion and over-all praise and

: Jaguar and Kant, not to put attention on you, but I would

like to have your screen names for MSN or AIM or both. As I

can't get on IRC right now, it would enable me to get in

contact with you guys a little easier. :) Trev, I don't know if you

have any of those programs, but if you do, it would be nice

to have your sn too.

Basically though, I just want all of us to get involved with

this feud and really put effort to try and win it. 6

members, the smallest house in the clan, the smallest

clan...It would be really nice and worth while if we won. :) I'm

putting my best foot forward for it, so I expect all three

of you to do the same. I suppose thats it for this week. ^_^

COMPETITIONS:

Monthly writing competition: Write stuff, get points, if you win, you get medals....I can't make it any clearer then that. :P

Points are awarded like so:

Fiction under 2 pages: 5 points

Fiction over 2 pages: 7 points

   Poetry: 3 points

*additional points may be added by me if I feel they are earned (for example: if MaiMai were in the house, and she wrote a 12 page fiction and it was the greatest thing that I had ever read, she would probably get an additional 1 to 2 points added to her total for entertaining me. However, if say, Khobai wrote a 12 page fiction, and it royally sucked and just seemed to drag on and on and on, then I may decide to deduct 1 to 2 points from his total)

Murder Mystery Leage - See above KHP report

Combat Tournament draws to a close, expect a winner to be crowned by the next report :)

PROMOTIONS/AWARDS:

No promotions this week, but DJK Ghost Angel was awarded a Crescent w/ Amethyst star for creating the winning entry for the CNS Name That MUTR competition run by Consul Goatham. Congrats GA!

In closing.....

Earlier today, I spoke with a Gungan about a great many things. Although goofy and pillow-hungry, he was wise. He told me, that a crew with no pride in the name of their ship, will not strive to protect that ship. They will not fight for the honor of their ship and their leaders. If they have no pride in where they serve, then they have no reason to serve. Nothing to lose in a battle except their lives. They will only fight so hard, just to stay alive. This is true with our house. Naga Sadow was once a respected name. It has been buried deep within the pits of Hell before, and it has risen like the phoenix does from its ashes. Now, my friends, it is time for us to rise from the flames of the old, and to conquer with the new.

We are the new Generation of Marka Ragnos. It is up to us to build upon the foundation built by our predecessors. Men like Tron, our founder, and like Trevarus Caerick, the Consul Emeritus. We are the future and it is time for us to write that future. We are Krath. We are Marka Ragnos. Let us say that with pride, as we crush our advesaries to dust in every battle. From now on, we are not striving for individual survival. We are striving for the survival of our House. Of our clan. Let our war cries echo throughout the halls of the Dark Cathedral. Let them echo throughout the galaxy. Let all who hear our cry, tremble in fear.

WE ARE MARKA RAGNOS. FEAR US, FOR WE ARE THE WINDS OF DEATH!
