Dark Greetings,

I apoligize for the lack of report last week.. was rather hectic. A member of my family passed away so there was the funeral, and people swarming from all around the states into my hooome. Err, anyway. This week's report won't be too long as there wasn't alot going on. But we will be introducing one new thing into the Clan. =)

First off..competitions, there are many going on in the various houses in preparation for the GJW.. and due to a delay I believe we will still have two-three weeks before that actually starts, so take advantage of the time  by brushing up on skills you may not be too excellent with. 

And now the new thing. Ziguarath approached me recently with an idea to start up a Clan Newsletter. . .basically this will include a staff of writers, an editor, etc. The Newsletter will keep track of all the achievements and activities members of Tarentum have participated in throughout that month, as well as events to come.

The staff writers will write various articles that will be out-lined below, some of a comical nature and others more serious to make the Newsletter a beneficial as well as humorous read. Members may submit submissions as well. . .and those submissions written specifically for the Newsletter (things specifically about Tarentum, humour, etc.. ) will have a chance to be featured on the site that the Newsletter will be published on. Medals will be determined sort of like a competition. You may submit other things that are not specifically related to the Newsletter, but more of a general nature.. but those must be submitted to the Dark Voice as well, and are not eligible for awards because the DV also gives awards for submissions and we don't want to award people twice for the same work.

The Staff:

         Chief Guy: Ziguarath, main guy, puts everything together and compiles it, and (for now) puts it online. We may be looking later for someone with a bit more experience in the actual coding of a site.

         Editor: Have a few people in mind already, someone who is fluent in English and has alot of time on their hands to go through and basically edit works for spelling and grammar, especially done by the staff writers and selected member features.

         Achivement Recorders(3):  There would be one in each house, basically with the job of keeping up with medals, promotions, big achievements accomplished by individual members or the House itself to be included in every Newsletter each month.

         Staff Writers(4):  We would select four people from any house (hopefully scattered) interested in writing on the following subjects that would basically always be included in the Newsletter.

• Current Event Reporter - This person will basically write up current events going on in the Brotherhood and Tarentum during that month and present it in an interesting way (this way its not just another report), but something interesting for people to read about. This will also help us keep up with history and events as we continue to do these newsletter.

• 'Political' Issues -  This person would dig out the controverys going on the DB, either recent or the age old questions like.. multi or same order houses.. or even some controvery 'political' issue taking place during that month. This will differ each time, but will provide a look at both sides of issues and present them in a fun and interesting manner hopefully for discussion and debate.

• Tabloid Gossip - The fun part of the newsletter, this person would basically make up silly stories, maybe based on something going on, but obviously blown out of proportion to just make it a humorous read. Obviously we would make sure nothing is written to offend anyone, just to have some good natured fun. For instance -- It is rumoured that Pel and Jaya have a daughter.. that was hatched from an egg. >:P  Just silly articles such as that to keep people having fun. =)

• Dear 'Abby' or maybe Dear Vader. or.. something like that. =p Basically, members would write in "questions/concerns" etc, about something..and this writer would feature certain questions and reply to them, these could be serious, or humorous as well, really up to the writer there, maybe both. ;)

The "Chief Guy" will be Ziguarath as this was his basic idea and he will be compiling everything and putting it online as well. However, anyone with some higher skills in website publishing may want to contact him and offer your skills as well. The Editor has also been selected (fairly sure), as well as the Tabloid Gossip staff writer. =P All other positions listed above are open to application, and I'd ask that you mail your interest to myself as well as Ziguarath and we'll  get back to everyone as soon as possible. Going to be fun. =)

This is report #11 dating 18.01.2003.

Activity:

In the last week activity slightly increased compared to the week before but it´s still below the level of activity we had before Christmas. And with the GJW hovering before us somewhere in the near future, all of you who haven´t shown themselves since early december have to come out of your hibernation and get active one way or another os we will be able to achieve our goal in the GJW

Competitions:

There are currently no special comps I have to mention here. For the other comps please refer to the report of my Aedile.

The only thing I want to remind you of are the weekly comps held in #oblelisk and #gmrg, go there and represent your house as good as you can.

Due to problems with awarding medals from comps and the unexpected Leave of Absence of RM Zekk I´m quite uniformed (again) about the flows of medals in the past week. Although PRT Reblet was made A:RM he hadn´t enough time to gather enough information and pass it onto me. So I have to wait for his report next week which will certainly contain the infos I need.

The only thing I can tell you that there haven´t been any service medals awarded.

Well it's been kinda a bad week for me. I hope that it's not been bad for anyone else. On to the news.

Promotions/Medals

Rage Akaido was recently promoted to Dark Jedi Knight for her completion of the Jedi Trials. Well done!

There were a few medals handed out in the phyle for a small competition. Details are in the phyle report.

I wish I could say I gave a medal for a story that was sent in for our competition, but alias there were none.

Activity

It's been a very slow week. I would like to see more communication but I know I can not force it upon you. The month is half way over so everyone needs to start thinking about sending in your activity report for the month. Those are due before Jan. 29th so I can include them in the last report of the month. Please do not forget!

DB / Clan News

Really nothing to report here. It has been a very quiet week. There are a lot of stuff going on with the SA as Mage has dominated the news page :P Go read what he has to say.

Seeing as how no one has had any issues, I'm guessing I'm doing a decent job and making everyone happy. If you think otherwise feel free to tell me.

I am rather disappointed about the lack of entries I got for the small competition I made to help everyone prepare for the GJW. I'm hoping this is not the trend I'm going to see when they finally annouce it open for all.

And speaking of the GJW, looks like we might be waiting another 3-4 weeks for it. There were some set backs but that is to be expected. Check the DB website regularly for any updates.

It seems our Desann decided to make an email group. If you wish to be a part of it you can. I personally do not wish for it but maybe you people can change my mind.

Phyle Report

Greetings brothers and sisters

First of ....I am DJK!!!! uhm okay :P uhm yeah ... drinks are on me :P Well then lets come to the report. This week was as silent as usual. Even though I got really TONS of mottos for the motto comp not that much happens. I guess most of you have exams coming as I have and have to study that's of course okay.

 

Activity

As mentioned above quite leveled. No changes. But I hope that will change when GJW are coming.

 

Competitions

Mystic Motto Comp finished

I really got many many mannnny mottos for this comp. It wasnt easy to choose the three winning mottos. For those who havent won anything I would like to mention again that the activity and the effort is important not the medal :) Dont be sad just try again :)

House Competition

I heard that no single story was written for this competition. I have to say I am a bit disappointed, I know I didnt participate either, but still it is alarming that no one else seemed to have interest in a comp for the whole house. I am sure our House summit is very disappointed and I want to appologize for my BT's and my own lack of activity.

 

Monthly topic, KCC and other DB wide comps

The KHP already said that many many entries came in for the KMT, but dont be afraid to send something in as well.

We have a Limmerick topic about Pain and the Story topic is about Invasion :)

 

KCC matches have slowed down a bit. But look at Jason he won against me :P so go and challenge him ;P  or me. Dem, Siterath and Jade have character sheets as well.

If you want to challenge me please notice that I am in the preexam phase so I might be responding only slow. I have a battle running as well, against Timeros. It is like a debt. If I win he will join tarentum if I lose he still has a choice :PWish me luck.

General News

Dark Voice

The editors of the DV mentioned that they only got 5 submissions for the DV so far. I urge you to make submissions. You did so many great pieces of work, why not sending them in and getting a Dark Scroll for each? :P

 

IWATS-course submission rules

Since there were so many submissions the HM made a set of rules for IWATS courses, read them and follow them otherwise you dont get the IWATS course added to your profile:

1) Submissions must include your DB PIN and proof. Proof may be in the form of another official online record, or forwards of the mails from the Professors.

2) If you choose to use the forwaring system, you must CC: the Professors of the Courses. Any IWATS PROF who turns around and says, "Hey! I didn't pass that person!" will put a slight damper on your record.

3) It's preferable that you include the number of courses, or even a list of the courses, that you have passed to date. This way, I can go through and do the people who only have a course or two to enter when I'm on the run. ;)
