More Duties of the Emissary:

Greetings all,

Today I am going to go over three of my duties, as they are intertwined and work together. Hopefully this will answer some lingerling questions.

Duty 2: Keep constant track of Clan activity over e-mail, IRC and message boards

Duty 3: Report to the Dark Council regarding such activity

Duty 4: Offer rewards and promotions to the clan summits for good service

In a e-mail later today I will be asking for Clan leadership to add me to their mailing groups. I am a long-time believer that the basis for activity always comes through e-mail, and I will just be looking at the e-mails that are sent to the members, their quality and frequency. I will futhermore be looking at IRC and message board presence.

Upon reviewing monthly the activity of Clan leadership, I will be reporting to the Grand Master and the Dark Council with how the clans are doing. Should any action need to be taken, either good or bad, I will reccomend it to the Grand master. What this means is that I will be primarily responsible in working to reward good leaders and to reccomend discipline for bad ones.

There was some concern when this position was officially created about me intruding into the mailing lists. I can assure you that it will be no different from having the order leaders on them. I wil rarely comment and anything that is private to your clan will stay that way.

I will be back tomorrow with my first report and another few duties.

Again, Dark Greetings Everyone,

I'd first like to thank everyone for their responses so far. I have recieved a good number of interesting questions and concerns. I will try to address some of those concerns as I outline my duties in further news posts. Hopefully today's post will clear up some things.

Duty 1: To be a focal point for maintaining Clan activity.

Many of you have asked why the duties of maintaining clan activity are being delegated to the EMS, instead of making the traditional holders do their job better. Well, let me pose it this way: Who, before EMS, was charged with keeping activity up in Clan Leadership? The GM? the DGM? The Order Leaders? It was never really clear. In all truth, Consuls had 10 different bosses (and those Office Space lovers know what I'm talking about....TPS reports and all). Most would argue that the duty primarily fell to the DGM, but all DC members still had a hand in it. The job of the DGM has become increasinly overburdened these days, however. Not only is the DGM charged with helping in daily affairs, but she has to approve competitions, work on side projects, and create working Vendettas for the Brotherhood. Given that Vendettas are becoming increasingly more complicated, that is almost a full-time job.

As Emissary, I will be drawing from a lot of the duties that were strewn about ten different people. The overal focus of my job is to increase/maintain clan activity levels. I will be doing this through a variety of ways, most outlined in my other specific duties.

An active Emissary is precisely what the Brotherhood needs to level out the Dark Council, and create an atmosphere in the clans that is conducive to improvement.

And later, I will divulge into more details of my other duties.

Greetings from the Emissary:

Dark Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Darkness,

I am Lord Jac Ae-Sequiera Cotelin, Grand Master Emeritus and newly appointed Emissary to the Clans. I am pleased to have the distinct privelege to serve as an advisor to the Dark Council once again and to work to better the interests of the Brotherhood alongside the leadership within the Clans.

I realize that there is much confusion regarding my appointment and what my duties entail. Therefore, I have decided to take a moment to clarify what I can. My primary responsibilities include the following:

Be a focal point for maintaining Clan activity

Keep constant track of Clan activity over e-mail, IRC and message boards

Report to the Dark Council regarding such activity

Offer rewards and promotions to the clan summits for good service

Help train new leadership

Serve as a resource for Clan leadership, new and old

Provide an open forum for ideas from the Consuls of each clan

Give opportunity to resolve problems without involving higher authorities

Help the Consuls speak in one voice about the problems in the Brotherhood

Provide a Central Clan Website for resource purposes

I will be addressing these issues one by one in further news postings, but for now I wanted to share this with you so that I may take questions and comments regarding them. My goal is to make the transition of these duties to me as smooth as possible. In order to do that, everyone needs to understand what is going on.

A few of you have already asked about the points that I earned for my clan before my appointment. I expect that the same rules applied to CyberGuy and Shadow will be applied to me.

Decision regarding Headmaster Mage:

This decision didn't come easily, but in my mind I knew it had to be done. Mage's vision for the Shadow Academy and mine differ greatly.

So, I have decided to not accept Mage's retraction of his resignation. He will be rewarded for the work he did for the Shadow Academy. For this, it doesn't matter that he wasn't quite going in the right direction. After all, he put in many hours of work.

Applications for the position of Headmaster will not be accepted at this time.

Game Over: Wow, three posts in a day... I'm on a roll. I've just been informed by the Grand Master that, due to some unfortunate circumstances (some of which I am to blame for, I suppose), I will not be retaining the position of Headmaster. I did what I could, and would like to think that some good was accomplished. The site is automated, the courses are in better shape, new things have been tried and tested, and people are getting a better perspective on what training is really meant to be. I don't really know where I'm going to go, or what I'm going to do. It's a little sudden, and somewhat unexpected. Such is the way the bouncy ball bounces, I guess. I wish everyone I've had the pleasure of working with the best of luck, and pray for all the best for the Shadow Academy. I don't want to bore you all, so I'll shed the tears somewhere else... <td width="597" class="text">Ok everyone, I didn’t think I was going to have to make a report that was as much of a “gripe-fest” as this one is going to be, but…I guess I have to.

When you participate in the GJW, or a competition of any kind, the Quaestor and I are supposed to be cc’d. If what has come to my mailbox is any indication of the activity level in this House, then it is darn poor!

I understand that some of the abovementioned people are in EC (10 people to be exact) but, that is no excuse for not cc’ing me and Loor when submissions are made. How does anyone expect Scholae Palatinae as a clan, or Acclivis Draco as a house, to get back to “first Clan” or “first House” status, if you’re unwilling to participate? Just because we have 19 members in this house isn’t saying that all of them are participating, and that’s pretty sad. I can’t accept that recruitment is good and participation is not. More importantly, don’t come crying to me or Loor about promotions if we’ve seen no activity to back up that request.

Loor has ordered that AWOL checks are to be severely stepped up, and I agree with him. I'm pushing the deadline forward to today week. Listen up, YOU HAVE ONE WEEK TO CHECK OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE ROGUES. Let the message go out - slackers are not going to be tolerated. I've said it before and I'll say it again; I'm not trying to be a prat, but if you'd don't put in, you're being booted out.

-House/Clan News-

GJW rolls on, the 2nd Phase deadline is the end of March. If you've got your submissions ready, send them ASAP. I'm still working on mine, but I is trying to juggle Mock Exams in RL and what not, so I'm a little pushed.

Our PCON resigned his post and headed for Carida and Drynwyn's Flame wishes him all the best in his new life. That means we're out of a Clan Summit. Think you've got what it takes? Mail Saitou if you're of the appropriate rank..

One more thing - I can't stress Iron Claw enough. If you haven't already checked it out, it's on CSP's message board. Please do so at your earliest convience. If you don't want in, at least tell your buddies in the DS House and Cally. Saitou and myself are interested in this matter and hopefully, will reach the same level of infamy as the M/S Program did.
