City of Anta Kinan

Sepros

Orian System

Life went about it’s normal hustle and bustle in this small city. The city was ancient, a leftover from the times of the Ekind. Most of the old structures had been razed and Humans had inhabited the city since the time of the arrival of the Dlarit Corporation. Anta Kinan was not a major Orian System player like the cities of Aeotheran and Tarthos. It was, however, home to a large number of persons associated with the Warhost military and support services that worked with them.

Frieta Kalam was a normal human. She worked in a refinery that re-processed used materials, a recyclery of sorts. The Orian Authority had wisely embarked on a program of reusing and recycling materials some years back in order to use their money and resources more efficiently. Frieta was proud of her job. The materials she reprocessed served many purposes including being used in infrastructure building and repair.

She took a second to regard the Gladim skyscraper that loomed at the center of the city. Although it was small she knew that things she had personally re-processed had been used to build it. She smiled at the thought. It was good to see first-hand effects of your work doing something positive. These were troubling times and with the recent disappearance of some of her coworkers any good thoughts were welcomed.

Just then an alarm sounded. She heard screams from out on the street. Frieta looked out of the exitway window and saw a horrible scene. Several monstrous creatures stepped out of a cargo container. They looked like humans that had been melted and put back together all wrong with metal and reptilian features. One of the abominations grabbed a nearby security officer, appearing to ignore the stunner bolts he fired at the beast. The creature tore the officer in half with an extra set of metallic arms it bore and threw the pieces aside casually. Gore spewed everywhere and the monstrosity roared in a mixed up mish mash of grunts and unintelligible Basic.

Frieta was in shock as she recognized the creature’s distorted face. Her supervisor had been one of the ones who had disappeared- and the monster before her looked very much like some sickening twisted replica of him as it rushed towards the plant entrance with bloody mayhem on it’s mind.

Macron closed the comlink connection to another part of the laboratory. “Jade has confirmed the tissue data.” A heavy aura hung in the air. “And the isotopic analyzer has completed it’s run.”

“And what are your conclusions?” asked Darkhawk as he looked down at the chemical analyzer.

“The isotope signatures and DNA match.” The statement hung in the air. “It was baradium from the Last Breath Mine on Sepros that blew up the transport.” The Alchemist looked pointedly at Darkhawk. “This is going to open a very ugly can of bore-worms along with Jade’s data. You are an experienced investigator Darkhawk. What is your take on this?”

“Truly.” The muscular Battlemaster looked perplexed as he stood over the mass detector analytical units. “The chemistry is beyond me, but deductive reasoning points to infiltrators and thieves.” The Sith thought carefully. “This could be symptomatic of serious corruption within our internal supply chain. As well as a ring of kidnappers. I’d suspect they are trying to destabilize our system in revenge.”

“Indeed. I’ve already sent word to Lord Ashen.” Macron sighed as he keyed a comlink on a secure Clan frequency. “Macron here. Consul Sanguinius, we have a serious problem. That baradium that blew the interdicted transport and our Marines to atoms was from our own mines.”

“I understand. I’m inclined to take your warning seriously.” Sanguinius considered the report and gestured towards someone off-screen.

The image of Sanguinius flickered slightly as Bentre stepped into view. “We’ve had reports of missing persons in the System’s population centers. Can you elaborate on that at all? We’ve had a report of an attack on Sepros in Anta Kinan as well by some creatures described as monsters.”

“My old Apprentice Jade was working on that issue, Proconsul. According to her analysis of the debris from the transport explosion there were cryogenic containers onboard containing live organs.” The Adept let that sink in before continuing. “From our citizens.” The madman chuckled evilly. “Some nasty being has been selling our people for spare parts. Or perhaps using them in some other way. This could be related to the Anta Kinan situation.”

“That’s rather disturbing.” Sanguinius’ image frowned. “I will take steps on my end to gather a team of Clan operatives and task them with tracking this down. In the meantime, investigate the source. Our Intelligence indicates that the exploded transport came from San Korinar. I’ve got someone working on finding where the T-65’s came from. So far it’s looking like the asteroid belt is likely.”

“Understood. Alchemist Out.” Macron turned to Darkhawk and spoke tersely. “We’re going to go investigate. I’ve got a Verpine contact who will be meeting us at the Zelden Zlas cantina in San Korinar. I’ve worked with him in the past extensively.”

“I thought most of the Verpine left the system?” Darkhawk asked as he and and Macron walked quickly towards the turbolift.

“Most did when Pravus laid our fleet low.” The madman gritted his metallic teeth in controlled anger. “Some stayed out of loyalty. They perceive our system as their Hive. The one I have in mind is a very skilled engineer with a penchant for explosives. He served as a General with the Warhost although he retired his commission recently. His nephew- if you can call them that given their biology- serves on that Corvette which intercepted the smugglers. I’d bet credits he has heard something.”

You have been warned. It is coming. As we are approaching the end of the Pirates of Aeotheran, another event comes to meet up shortly behind it! Hosted by our Crazed Alchemist, Macron and our own Darkhawk, it appears that another threat has arisen to endanger the Clan. If you like you can find a nice bit of prologue fiction if you have such an inclination. Seriously. Click right here.

Competitions contained with the over-arching competition will include: Designing a new NPC for Clan Naga Sadow, furthering the narrative in the event run-on , partaking in a kicking Poetry Slam, gaming with your fellows, proving your mastery of Sadowan trivia, and helping to further craft Sadowan lore by designing a floor plan for the Dentaavi facility. Don't wait too long, though- the event will be running just fifteen days. I for one can assure you that I will be taking part. It should be a real blast.

Remember, as always, that what makes this Clan great is all of you! I do want to give many thanks to Macron and Darkhawk for hosting the upcoming event, and thanks for all those who volunteered the use of their characters for inclusion in the prologue fiction. Let's rock Abomination like only Naga Sadow can, starting June 2nd!

(though don't let that keep you from taking part in Pirates of Aeotheran while you wait!)
