This news post is an update about some important details that will affect our Clan moving forward. Please take the time to read this in its entirety, and feel free to message us with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Proconsul Situation

I took some time to discuss my options for who should be the next Proconsul. I spoke with the rest of the Summit, as well as those whose opinions I sincerely trust. In the end, there was one individual who I thought had earned their chance to become Proconsul, and that person was Qyreia. Q's dedication to the Clan and efforts in House Galares made that an easy choice.

Unfortunately, the timing just sucks right now. With business in real life going on and Galares in the middle of an active storyline, we thought it best to keep stability for a while longer before making the transition.. After discussing this with Q, Ori, and others, the decision was made that until we have a leadership team fully ready to transition over and current plots organized, Q would stay on as Quaestor. Once the team is in place, Q will step up as our Proconsul. Until that happens, our very own Atyiru has agreed to assist me as an Interim Proconsul.

I would like to thank Q and Atty for their devotion to Arcona, and their willingness to do this. Finding that upcoming leadership team for Gal to work with Ori will be a major focus going forward, so if anyone would like to step up and learn from the amazing leader that Q is, please feel free to let us know.

Discord

It had been announced a short while ago that the Dark Jedi Brotherhood will be moving from Telegram as our main community communication server and to Discord. The Summit has been working hard to familiarize ourselves with this new application, and all DJB members are free to join the servers and get a taste of them yourselves. We will be doing everything within our power to make this transition as easy as possible, and hope that you will all work with us in this time of change.

We want to highlight our very own Zuza Lottson and Sven Rawioni. Both of these amazing members had joined the new Discord Server and noticed some things that could be changed to make new members' experiences better. They both approached the DC about these issues and received responses to their concerns and ideas. Their efforts should be seen on the server.

While we know a few of our members have had negative experiences with Discord in the past, we really hope that Arcona as a team has worked hard to make sure that no matter where we go, we will create a fun, safe place for any of our members. If you’re worried, have questions, anything, we’re here to help and guide you, step by step.

To that end, we’ve updated our Chat Policy to cover the new Discord channels and configurations.

Arcona Chat Policy

The policy is fairly straightforward. Arcona’s community is our lifeblood. We are a very diverse, strange bunch of weirdos that have banded together to form a family and have carved out a place on the internet where we feel like we can be ourselves. We are happy to share our culture with our friends and fellow clubmates, and welcome anyone that is open-minded to our shenanigans to join us. If there are too many rainbows and dog pictures for you, however, we’re sorry-but-not-sorry.

In the interest of transparency, however, we want to make it very clear that any member that has said or done things to make our members feel uncomfortable (whether they be in the past, present or future), the Arcona Summit is behind me in making and maintaining bans. Words have meaning, accountability matters, and our first priority will always be to protect our members' health, happiness and enjoyment.

A Word From the PCON

Hey, dear hearts. It's been awhile — at least, since I had anything to address in a report. If you haven't had me as a leader before, or just aren't familiar, or are peeking I from elsewhere: hi, I'm Atty. I also go by Abbey or various other nicknames. I love to write, I adore the characters that just so happen to live in my head and let me tell their stories, I doodle now and again, and I routinely devolve into indecipherable whimpering at my husband (and fellow Arconae, Terran, whom I met here!) because our cat's toebeans are just. There. And so cute. I drink cocoa and I know things (mostly not useful things). I love reading but don't do it as much as I used to because the internet has turned my attention span into a squirrel. My favorite color is yellow, and whoever you are reading this now, wherever you come from or however you identify, I am now your friend.

I joined this club nine years ago to cling to a friend from the Skyrim section of fanfiction.net even though I didn't like Star Wars and still prefer a lot of other fantasy or sci/fi media; but I stayed, because I found my family here. This is my family. You all are my family. And I promise that, Proconsul or line member, for a day or a few months or one minute, I'll do my best to be there for you. You never have to say you're sorry to me. If you need someone to listen, just ask me if I have the time and space to hear, and you don't have to worry about "bothering" me because you've already checked just by asking. If you have suggestions or concerns or ideas, feel free to share them! Pet pictures are always welcome. Hugs are constant and free.

We know we've been doing okay as a Summit, but we also know we could be doing a lot better for you. We want to look hard into training more leaders, new and old, and we're so grateful to have so much energy and excitement and new voices and faces joining this family. Thank you for being with us. It's our honor and privlege.
