Never Volunteer for Anything
Recently I had the honor of being involved in some high-level promotions and awards for a couple of our finest. In case you missed the announcements, Montresor, Former Consul, Clan Plagueis, was awarded the Emerald Dagger and Valhavoc, Fist, was promoted to Sith Warlord.
These gentlemen are doing the kind of work we need from everyone. We are pushing hard as a club, together, in order to put us in the best possible position to take advantage of the upcoming Star Wars goodness; Celebration, Episode VII, VIII, IX, etc. Whether you're at the Dark Council level or Clan level, or what have you, it doesn't matter. Do what you can with what you have. Be good to one another.
This is a pretty exciting time.
We have a brand-new Antei Combat Center. We're about to wrap up Fading Light and move on to Great Jedi War XI. The GJW will officially end The Dark Crusade and essentially shut the door on our current story line as we prepare to deal with what's ahead for Star Wars canon. New forums are en route. You're going to start seeing Possessions come on line soon'ish™. James and I have been looking at coding needs to automate and include our Armed Forces transactions as part of Possessions. We've also been brainstorming for a Dark Jedi Brotherhood Wargame System. And we've played around with the idea of a DJB Achievement System.
So there's a lot to look forward to. We're just scratching the surface of what's possible. So get out there, enjoy the club, help where you can. It's a great time to be part of the Brotherhood.
Fictionally, Nicht Ka represents the last of the three planets the Brotherhood bypassed during our planet-hopping campaign to eradicate the One Sith.
Practically, what it represents is an opportunity for any units needing to catch up to the pack leaders. Nicht Ka will feature several traditional Brotherhood events: Fiction, Gaming, Graphics, etc. There will be plenty of Novae up for grabs, and thus plenty of Placement Points to perhaps make the difference between 1st and 2nd overall or 3rd and 4th, etc. But there won't be so many events that anyone will be crushed to participate in them all.
The idea behind Fading Light was a nice and easy competition, fun, plenty of prizes, and the opportunity for the hungry units out there, and their members, to get another crack at some titles and bragging rights. And our skills will be sharp for Great Jedi War XI. I'll do what I can to make sure we have a nice breather in between the two events.
Again, my plan for GJW XI is light and fun. Not too many events and currently looking at three weeks in duration straight through. Once that's done, we are going on Vendetta hiatus. I know you guys have slugged it out, done all we asked, and kept a great attitude the whole time. But following GJW XI, I want to turn the focus back to the individual units so you all can build, or rebuild in some cases, your internal stories and generally decompress from nearly two solid years of war.
The rumors are true, Raken & Family will be attending Celebration next year. Okay, I know there were no rumors. Sounded good. The event takes place April 16 - 19, 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center, CA. We're attending Saturday's activities and will be doing Disney the rest of the weekend.
In addition to Mrs. Raken and my four future Darths, some other Dark Council members will be there as well. I believe Pravus has already outed himself, and the recently Warlordly Valhavoc will be in attendance as well. We plan to get together, drink some beer, get our nerd on, etc.
If anyone else is attending, let me know and I'd love to meet you, say, "Hi," and get a picture. I think it would be fun and good stuff for the website and our recruiting efforts as well.
Speaking of recruiting, I believe the Kiwi Kommando, aka Solari, and his cohorts have some things planned for Celebration weekend. So if this is something that's doable for you, please come by. It's not often we get this big a stage, impending new films, etc., to help us advertise our little club to all the folks out there.
I'll be getting on a plane here in a couple days headed home. What does this mean? Not much. No LOA or break in DJB service, I'll simply be doing an ungodly amount of traveling over a short period of time, etc. If you need something, Email is the best way. WhatsApp a close second.
Once home, I'll be back on IRC as usual. My apologies for not being on it this last work trip but it just wouldn't work for me here in this little paradise. I'll also be back online to ToR with you all some more, Google Hangouts, etc. And I've apparently been threatened with bodily harm if I don't start playing Diablo III. So maybe that will happen. We'll have to see what Hotel-Zero-Six (aka Mrs. Raken) has to say about it =)
They say this. I heard it in the Army. I still hear it. But don't be scared. I need someone, a volunteer, to help me out with getting some Wiki Articles in shape. Nothing brutal. I can promise relatively minor verbal abuse, drunken tattooing, and beer. Need someone who can write.
If anyone's interested, send me an email.

Hit me up if there's something you need. People do this frequently and I'm usually able to help out fairly quickly. Email is the best way to reach me. I travel. A lot. I'm not often on IRC due to network issues in the places I work, but where and when I can I hop on.
Currently, IRC is working intermittently at best where I'm located, so rather than connect and disconnect 25,000 times a day, I've only been checking in once in a while. In case of emergency (not sure what the hell that would be) get a hold of any Dark Councilor as they have my phone number (scary, right?) and can text me.

Nice report, Raken, good to hear from you. Looking forward to Nicht Ka, and all that comes after.
I'm pretty close to Anaheim. I'll have to find out if I can make it. On top of going into my first GJW finally, I'm pretty excited.
Misread, thats a year away. Still better.
I am trying to work my schedule around to be at celebration. Might even cos*play my character too.
Nice report, boss
Great report, Raken. The Recruitment Tribune Office does indeed have plans for Celebration. I am planning on attending all four days thus far. We are planning on having a booth set up that everyone can meet up at as well as talk up potential new recruits. Recruitment will be working on setting up some sort of fundraising event to help cover the cost of the booth and promotional materials for the club. Maybe even help pay for a group dinner on Saturday night if we are able. Nothing is set it stone, but that is something we did at Celebration 3 at Indy. Though that time it was at Hooters (Jac seemed to like it, lol).
We will also be asking for volunteers to help man the booth at some point during all four days. We want everyone to have a chance at exploring Celebration and not be stuck at the booth a majority of the time. One or two hour shifts is what we are thinking. In the coming months the Recruitment Office will be asking people who are attending to sign up to help out.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you next summer.
