Dark Prophet II
Command Bridge
21 hrs post initial attack
The newly named Consul of Clan Taldryan, Rhylance, stood on the bridge of the Dark Prophet II. Several hours had passed since his…uplifting speech had been made to the remnants of the Clan and it was almost time to take action. The final preparations had been made. This was it: either Taldryan would succeed and live on to fight another day, or the survivors of the assault on Karufr would be blasted into space dust.
“Are you sure this plan of yours will work?”
Rhylance turned to the half-Mirialan walking up to him. Rian Taldrya, one of the last remaining members of Taldryan who held the lofty name, wore a look of untrusting disbelief. The Chiss knew that the ex-Consul didn’t feel right about him leading the clan, but he had no time for such trivial drama.
“Rian, I thought I assigned you to helm the Resurgent. You are not needed aboard this ship.”
“With all due respect, Consul, I just thought it necessary to voice my disapproval for this idea of yours,” the pale gold-skinned Taldryan held firm his position.
“You can disagree with me, or you can assist the escape of our Clan. All the time you waste contradicting my orders as the Consul of Taldryan is time that the Iron Legion has to better fortify their blockade of our system. If we have any hope of escape, now is that time.”
Rian sighed and turned away to leave the bridge of the Dark Prophet II. He may not have agreed to Rhylance's course of action, but he knew, as the Consul did, that right now the Clan needed to be unified, not divided amongst itself. He would comply. The Chiss watched as the Taldrya activated his comlink and spoke, it sounded, to his intended bride, Kara, who waited for him aboard his assigned vessel.
Rhylance turned back to the front of the command bridge, awaiting the right time before he began to enact his escape plan. The first thing he needed to do was address the fleet.
“Open channels to the rest of our fleet,” he ordered, his voice firm and resolute.
“Yes sir, opening all fleet channels.”
Once the nearby lieutenant motioned to him that all channels were open the Chiss began to speak. He knew that right now this Clan needed their leader to be strong, and he had no plans to show weakness.
“Brothers and sisters, we are at a crossroads. What lies ahead could very well be our complete annihilation. However, we shall face this threat head on. We are not cowards who hide in the dark. We will escape with our lives and we will return this great injustice many times over. We are Taldryan, and we shall stand united!”
Cheers could be heard in every ship at the Clan’s disposal. They all knew that they would be staring death in the face. They were ready.
“Lieutenant, initiate launch sequences,” Rhylance commanded, beginning Taldryan’s stand against the Iron Legion.
“Yes, sir,” the nearby officer agreed. “All vessels, initiate launch sequences and prepare to exit Taldryan space. Ten.”
One by one each of Taldryan’s remaining ships hummed to life as their engines started up. The combined noise became a dull roar in the underground bunkers.
“Nine.”
Rhylance directed his attention to the hangar bay doors that remained closed. His eyes hardened as thoughts of Jac ran through his mind.
“Eight.”
Once again his life was upended because of the actions of a megalomaniac Force-user. Jac’s actions today proved he no longer deserved the gift that he possessed.
“Seven.”
This update concludes the Breaking Point Event for our Clan. I would like to thank everyone who competed in this event! I count this as a success for our Clan. I hope everyone enjoyed the competitions, as well as the story-line.
Without further adieu, I want to formally congratulate the top 3 members who competed in the various competitions this Event had to offer.
Congratulations to you three, and well played by all! *
I wanted to share some statistics, based on the participation numbers that I noticed while running this event.
First, a grand total of 16 unique participants from our clan, out of 52 Clan members. That means only 31% of the Clan participated in any of the 12 competitions that this event offered. Not a bad number, but I hope to see this percentage rise as we move forward and grow as a Clan.
Second, we received a grand total of 91 unique submissions over the course of 12 competitions. That means that, on average, each participant submitted to 5.69 competitions. Again a number that I am happy with, though I hope this changes in the future. My advice to all would be even if you don't think you will place in a competition, still compete. Participation builds experience and shows your Summit that you are interested in the content they are working to create. When looking at promotions and awards, I find strong participation numbers to be more noteworthy and impressive than a lower number of placements.
Third, I wanted to include two graphs to compare Round 1 and Round 2 of Breaking Point. Overall participation went down, which I expected. I also was curious to see what types of competitions would have the highest rates of participation.
In closing, I consider this event to be a success, and I look forward to running more of these in the future. Let's use "Breaking Point" as a jumping point to grow and prosper as a Clan and a Family.
Well played by all, and May The Force Be Ever In Your Favor!
