The other day, several members had a lively discussion in art chat about the benefits of "body doubling"—getting together to do a shared activity at the same time, sometimes including hanging out in voice chat together. We discovered that people already do this, whether for DB activities like art and fiction, and several people expressed interest in having voice channels for casual hangouts as well as dedicated activities.
Vorran dropped a suggestion in the Emissary Staff Suggestion Box, and we thought it was a great idea. So, I present the return of the Hangout chats!
All members are welcome to use these voice chats to chill together. whether for body doubling specifically or just casually chit-chatting. Thanks to Vorran for the suggestion!

Nice! Love this for neurodiverse inclusion and taking advantage of our community!

VOICE CHATS!
Engaging with other members without feeling obligated to engage in their activities as will hopefully bring more members together. I imagine many of us have some degree of social anxiety and any potential source of awkwardness is an easy out. Hopefully these new channels will allow for more perceived freedom to simply engage without feeling like one doesn't belong. I'm sure, if this were ever mentioned, several members would shoot down the notion of not belonging in a particular chat faster and with greater accuracy than a storm trooper but I'm also aware social anxiety for some prevents us from even mentioning it. These new channels are, as noted, a welcome addition. I, some random new guy, encourage everyone to engage with their fellow members, regardless of what channel they're in. As far as I know, if you can see it, you can join it.
