Introduction

A lot of changes have come to pass since my last report.

First of all, GJW XII has been delayed until further notice. Rules for the DB Gaming Telegram Chat have been updated. Drac is also looking for Magistrates this month. Elincia Rei has released information on Daybreak. People have also been going on vacations, including the DGM, the Headmaster, and myself. Though many may be worried or upset about the turn of events, I encourage you not to be disheartened, my friends. With the release of Daybreak, war is on the rise for the Caperion System and Clan Scholae Palatinae. It’s time to take arms, brothers and sisters, and rise! Let’s take a look at last month’s competitions as we look forward to the future.

I’m an awful person.

I PROMISE BEFORE MY NEXT REPORT THAT THE VIDEO WILL BE COMPLETED. With recent changes in my RL (a new apartment, a new car, two new pets, a lot of travelling…) I’ve been far too busy to save some room in my schedule for being poisoned by you bunch who entered into this competition. All seriousness though, really looking forward to making this video for you guys, and because of this I want to make sure it’s the best quality possible. Like I’ve said, July was very light for competitions in preparation of GJW XII. It’s not a surprise to me to see such lower content with that and the circumstance of it being vacation time around the world. Big welcome to Angel Snow, our newest recruit! You can be strange (because that’s what we Excidiacs are), just don’t be a stranger. Now for the awesomeness that is August…

Braecen Kaeth asks... What is the most important thing you have learned since becoming an Aedile?

That being an Aedile is not about voicing my own opinions, but rather being a voice for those who feel like they cannot raise their own. Communication is KEY to whatever you intend to do in a group. Without communication, you are bound to fail. Leadership isn’t about getting things done, but rather encouraging others to make choices for themselves or challenge themselves when they deemed it impossible.

What message do you give to aspiring leaders as they prepare for their first chance?

Make yourself known. Don’t get cocky, and don’t get rude. If you think you have what it takes, prove it. Show the world what you got. Take initiative. Message people that scare you. Find a mentor. Get involved in whatever you can. Leave your fingerprints where other leaders can find them. However, remember your place while you respect and honor theirs’.

What would you tell the member that thinks he/she “isn’t cut out to be a leader” or “isn’t ready yet”?

That they are completely right. Leadership is not a matter of being ready, however it’s a matter of taking matters into your own hands when you see a need. Do your research, complete those comps. In the end though, no one is truly “ready” to be a leader. To learn how to better lead, you must first make mistakes as a leader. AND THAT IS OKAY. That’s what leaders above you are for: to help guide you where you need to go. In summary, the only person who can truly make you a leader is you. No one will motivate you but yourself. So get out there and show them what you’re made of! The only limit to your capabilities is you. Don’t believe the lies that you can’t do it. That pitter patter in your heart shows you that you desire it. And when you dream it, it means you have the power to do it should you allow yourself to.

In Closing

This month I encourage every single one of you to dive head first into leaving your mark on Excidium and Clan Scholae Palatinae. Despite the last system’s demise, I think it’s safe to say that the Caperion System will be here for quite a while. It’s a great opportunity to make a lasting impression on the Brotherhood for generations of nerds to come. Show them what ya got! Rum for everyone! Let’s all cheer towards the glorious future ahead.
