The Dark Crusade: Fading Light Epilogue Event
Brethren,
The war drums beat yet again, as we are drawn to Bosthirda to complete our march toward Korriban. Over the next several months the Brotherhood will unleash its Clans and Houses to seize the last three planets left to the One Sith before attacking Korriban in GJW XI.
The first of these planets, Bosthirda, part of Fading Light, will be a Team Runon Event described below. The events for the other two planets will be released when available and more details on Fading Light will be released soon.
For Bosthirda and the Run-On...
Teams need to be no less than 5 members, and no more than 7. Teams need to have been declared via email to Raken, Pravus and myself before the end of the day on the 27th of February.
The following rules are in effect:
This is a run-on event based on the most recent Dark Brotherhood Plot Update, Bosthirda Planet Document, and event hook placed at the beginning of each run on.
Sign-ups for the event will begin on 22 February 2014 and end at 2359 EST on 27 February 2014.
The Team Captain from each team will email their team name and team roster to Muz, Raken, and Sarin.
Teams will consist of no less than 5 members and no more than 7 members. Units may submit as many teams as they can field.
250 word minimum per post. No maximum word limit. A post under 250 words will not be considered in a participant’s 3 post total. If a player writes five entries, 3 over 250 words and 2 under, they will still be given credit for reaching the minimum post limit.
Each team member must post at least three times during the event. There is no maximum post limit, but members cannot post consecutively. A single member failing to post three times will result in their teams DQ and elimination from the top 3.
Edits may occur on a post until a follow on post has been made (follow on posts include "reserving" a space). Edits may only be made by the posts original author (as in, if you have Forum Administration Rights, you cannot edit another member’s work).
Members may reserve post, but no posts can occur until after the reserved post is written.
The event will be graded by Raken, Sarin, and Muz using a rubric that focuses on creativity, plot development, realism, and grammar.
The winning team will win the Run-On for their unit. A single Independent Unit can finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in this event. This is a nova producing event.
Event Timeline:
22-27 February Sign-Ups
28 February: Event Hook Published on all Team Threads (You can read the plot update and potentially divine your mission!)
28 February to 16 March: Members Post on the Forums! This event will be plugged into the Database, but will not conclude on the forums until 2359 EST on 16 March 2014!!!!!!!
Thank you all, and see you on the Forums!

RUN ON!
Is there any way to extend the deadline of the competition itself? Even a couple more days would allow us another weekend to really get our posts together, if not another full week. It's not so much the amount of writing that's taxing, but more about the logistics of getting 5-7 people all posting together and ensuring that everyone gets in their requisite posts before the deadline. It may just save a lot of hair-pulling for everyone involved.
Also, what happens to a team that does not have all members post 3 times, both in terms of placement and in participation? Is participation based on each person, or is it based on the teams themselves?
Oh, and what happens if a team member does not do a 250-word post? Is the team DQed? Does the participation of the other members count still? Just wondering about the specific rules revolving around those items
Thanks!
yeah more comps
Seriously, who comes up with these names for planets?
pew-pew
Drew Karpyshyn. First appeared in the Revan novel he wrote :P
Yeah, everything that Halc said. The logistics of getting 5-7 people to get three posts each posted in 7 days is pretty hairy, especially if any of them have jobs, family, or anything else that might take them away from their computer.
I agree with what Selika just pointed out. Knowing that most of Odan-Urr's membership, while talented and active, do have real life commitments that restrict the time they have available, I don't think it would be fair to penalize them for this reason. While the reccommended two weeks is acceptable, I would go as far to say that more than this, up to a month is far more reasonable, given the group sizes. If it were any less than three weeks, I might even suggest to eliminate the three-post requirement.
What about newer members on mobile devices like phones or tablets, they wont be able post anything at all. Will we be punished for our communication limitations?
Xylnn, you should be able to post from your phone (assuming it has internet access.) I have done this before while away for a few events. I'm by no means an expert in phones, so I would reccommend testing it. (I'm using a samsung galaxy.)
Yeah, a number of members (I'm thinking of sepcifically Brimstone) have managed to be VERY active when they only had a phone, this included fiction and I believe run-ons. All the platforms have decent to semi-decent text editors and/or word processors ;)
Hey folks, We've adjusted the rules some and extended the timeframe. Check Sarin's news post for details.
Also, our forums work on anything with internet connectivity and a browser. Tablets and smartphones are able to post just fine, our coding staff has tested that.
Are we able to look at the rubric, or is it a 'secret' rubric?
