Arcona: House Galeres Quaestor Open For Applications
Greetings, everyone. We are extending applications for Quaestor, open DB-wide, until Friday, February 10th, 11:59 EST. We do still reserve the right to close applications earlier than the deadline should a suitable candidate appear.
Applicants should have:
- A concrete plan of action and ideas for the House moving forward
- Less than 12-24 hour email turnaround time
- Any past leadership in the Brotherhood or notable achievements listed
- Any leadership experience outside of the club or in real life that may be relevant listed
- Access to IRC and strong TG presence (TG is not technically required but is heavily encouraged)
- Ideas for the fictional expansion and position of Galeres
- An assessment, if able, of the current state of House Galeres and ideas for the future of House Galeres and its lore
- Ability to mediate, work as a team, manage time, and problem solve
Tips and things to note when applying:
- Having taken and passed the Shadow Academy's Leadership courses will be looked upon favorably.
- Knowing yourself is a good thing. Tell us about what you can bring to the summit and where you could improve.
- You should think of this opportunity as if you were applying for a Proconsul or Consul position. We often expect Leadership within Arcona to function at a level higher than the role they currently hold. The Quaestor of Galeres has historically had a significant impact on the entire Clan and we expect this tradition to hold going forward.
- Know the difference between a goal and a plan. "I want to increase fiction activity" is a goal. "I will host bi-weekly fiction workshops to develop our writers" is a plan. Too often applications are full of lofty goals with almost nothing in concrete plans on how to achieve those goals.
- Do your homework! Show the hiring officials you understand the strengths and weaknesses of the unit. You don't have to use the SWOT or 30/60/90 format.
- Be honest! If you have rough spots in your history or community reputation, you should probably address those. I do look into how an applicant is viewed in their respective community. Also, our Summit has and will always have strong personalities within it. You need to be able to stand your ground and show why your opinion is valid.
- Send applications to all the people we direct you to send them to. No, seriously. :P
Typical Quaestor duties include:
- Writing and publishing monthly House reports
- Tracking and being conscious of members’ activity and taking responsibility for keeping track of when they are due for medals or promotions
- Writing of lead and/or supporting recommendations for medals and promotions
- Overseeing the developing and direction of House and Battleteams
- Constant communication with the rest of the Summit, including upper summit, sister-House leaders, and Clan Rollmaster
- Development, training, and appointment of subordinate leaders
Email your applications to Atty ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Uji ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Tim ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]). There is no minimum rank or DB experience requirement. Goodluck, and thank you for your time and attention!.
