Mar Sûl has to step down from COU PCON due to real life constraints. Please join me in thanking him for his continued service to the Clan. And, my friend, I look forward to you returning at some point in whatever capacity you can.

Replacing Mar as PCON is Alethia aka Arch who most of you know as a rising star in COU and the DB. I will discuss this move and my reasoning behind further in my Consul report but suffice to say Arch's promotion to PCON leaves us with a vacancy in House Shan.

Effective immediately the position of Quaestor for House Shan is now open to applications DB-wide.

Requirements

• Applications are open DB-wide and are due to myself ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]), and Alethia ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) no later than 8PM EST on 21 April. We reserve the right to select a candidate early, so don't delay!

• Applications should address: DB experience (projects, positions, etc), any relevant real life skills (don't give me a full resume), leadership philosophy, your assessment of the current state of House Shan and ideas for the future of House Shan and its lore.

• There is no minimum rank or DB experience requirement. Don't be afraid to apply! Even you aren't ultimately selected it can get you on people's radar for future positions.

• Be prepared to answer follow-on questions via email.

Tips

• This is a Upper Summit position, put some thought and effort into this. Have multiple people proof and comment on it. Sloppy or incoherent applications reflect poorly on the applicant.

• Know the difference between a goal and a plan. "I want to increase fiction activity" is a goal. "I will host bi-weekly fiction workshops to develop our writers" is a plan. Too often I see applications full of lofty goals with almost nothing in concrete plans on how to achieve those goals.

• Do your homework! Show the hiring officials you understand the strengths and weaknesses of the unit. You don't have to use the SWOT format (I'm not big on 30/60/90 either).

• Be professional! I'm big on humor in my fiction writing but you are applying to be a key leader, not Deadpool (apologies to Dracpool). A little humor goes a long way but keep the tone professional.

• Be honest! If you have rough spots in your history or community reputation, you should probably address those. I do look into how an applicant is viewed in their respective community.
