As you're no doubt aware, House Qel-Droma recently opened applications for not one, but two Battleteam Leader positions. This posting went up on Friday the 6th. Our original plan was to accept applications until Saturday, May 13th. However, by Monday the 8th we had received responses from four qualified applicants. After subjecting all of them to 1-2 hours each of grueling interviews on Monday (because hey, why not?), we've made our final selections. Before the big announcement, though, a word from our sponsor, Ratbird Enterprises. Greetings Qel-Dromans,

So, here we are again. Mae/Kat has moved to work alongside Atty as the Power Duo. In her stead and for the second time, I have stepped up to fill in the large, hella’ stylish shoes she left behind (please help! Gonna break an ankle in these heels :P). Let’s take a moment to thank Kat for all the work she has done for Qel-Droma and to wish her luck as our Lady Pro-corn-sul. It was an immense pleasure working with you and I personally look forward to continuing to do so. With that said: hello, I’m your Aedile! Oh, boy! Prepare yourself for the hammering bleet to drive forward our awesomeness! I’m ecstatic to work with you guys and, hopefully due to a successful recruitment drive, new joins in the future (really, you are all great. Thank you for all you do).

So, what to expect from me going forward? Well you can certainly continue expecting the upbeat, hug-prone presence of mine on telegram for one. Cute pictures of baby goat kids is the other. Besides all of that, I will mainly be working close with Terran for the good of the House, whether that be events, projects, activity tracking, talking to you guys, and more. I also will be aiding in discussions with the Upper Summit as well as that of Galeres. So don’t hesitate to approach me with anything. With the current wiki revamp coming to a finish, I will be heavily pushing our recruitment drive and managing the soon-to-be-live House accounts on various social platforms. I look forward to any volunteers in administering these sites. This will be done alongside all the other projects and plans we have.

For now, that is all. Again, I look forward to working with all of you. My door is always open for chatting, questions, the sharing of ideas, or mediation of problems. I welcome any input, ideas, interests, or wishes for what you guys would like to see in a plot or competition. As for reports, I will be piggybacking off of Terran, so you will continue hearing from me via the House report every third weekend of the month. Hope you all are doing well. <3

Thanks, Zujles, for the introduction. I'd like to second her congratulations to Kat on her unicornious ascension, and extend my own appreciation to Zuji for stepping up to the role of Aedile. It's a tough, often thankless job, and I'm thrilled to have her as my minion right-hand. Though we expect to have some more news on the House front in the coming week, for now I would like to turn to the subject of Battleteams.

Let me take a moment to reiterate my thanks to everyone who applied for the positions and sat through our incessant questioning. It's been a whirlwind selection process, and you guys didn't make it any easier by being so damned talented! For those who are curious, I wasn't exaggerating when I said we subjected all the applicants to 1-2 hour interviews, peppering them with questions about their experience, their weaknesses, their plans and goals, and even their thoughts on Star Wars lore. It was a lot of fun (for Zuji and I), and probably painful (for them), but it was an awesome experience getting to know all the candidates better, and it really helped us feel confident in our selections.

So, without further ado, let me present to you the newest Gate Wardeness of Shadow Gate: Lucine Vasano! Lucine is an amazing member, with a ton of great ideas, terrific world-building skills, and a truly frightening level of enthusiasm. But I'll let her introduce herself to you fine ladies and gentlemen.

Greetings Gatekeepers,

It’s time to say goodbye to our current Gate Warden, as she takes her leave to ascend to the lofty heights of Aedile. Thank you so much, Zujenia, for all of your hard work as Gate Wardeness. You are a great leader and a wonderful person, and I have no doubt that you and your hammer will make a lasting impression in your new role. You certainly left some big shoes to fill.

I have stepped in to fill Zujenia’s role as BTL. A little bit about me: I am a caffeine and sugar driven writer-wannabe with with an abundance of cheer (even when I haven’t had my coffee) and a penchant for cackling maniacally. Though I am relatively new to the DJB, I feel like I have found my niche here. You are all wonderful people, and I am so excited to be working with you! Together, we shall bring glory to House Qel-Droma! Mwaha!

So, what plans to I have for Shadow Gate? - More competitions: Who doesn’t enjoy a good competition? It’s the chance to get out there and show your team mates your stuff, and earn shinies in the process. I am planning on working with Terran and Zujenia to bring ya’ll a wide array of comps. I’ve got a few ideas already, but feel free to contact me with any comp ideas that you might have. Let’s show them why Shadow Gate is one of the best battle teams out there.

-Storylines: We have got a lot to do, Gatekeepers. Ol’val was hit hard in the gang war. We’re going to need your help in securing and rebuilding the port. And that’s just the start! I am looking forward to bringing forth more plots for your entertainment pleasure.

The other bit of news that I alluded to in my original post is that we'll be opening a second Battleteam in Qel-Droma. While we're still finalizing the details, it is my great pleasure to announce that we have selected Koliss Welcott as the Battleteam Leader of the new team. Koliss had an amazing application with a ton of impressive experience, and I think his emphasis on fictional development and teamwork will go a long way towards making this new team a success. We'll have more details on this new team in the coming days, but for now I present to you the doctor himself.

Good people of House Qel-Droma, Clan Arcona,

I wish you well and I am glad to introduce myself properly. I’m Koliss, and I’ve been selected by our Summit to head out newest project of a newly created Battleteam. It has certainly been an interesting experience in my relatively short time here, but I believe I have found a community that is full of excellent people and excellent ideas. It is my pleasure to get the chance to serve in this position, and my hope that all those that find themselves working within and alongside this new organization find their time well spent.

With the creation of a new Battleteam to serve alongside Shadow Gate, there is of course the question of what this Battleteam is. What is the purpose of it, what role will it fulfill, what kind of members will fill out its roster? That is where I will call upon those members that join me in this new Battleteam to help, as my aim is to provide a place where this new chapter of the clan is written by all members of the team that wish to contribute to it.

With that general overview out of the way, let me take a moment to thank you for reading up on this new development, and thank the Summit for putting their trust in me. It will certainly be a workload, but I don’t doubt I will enjoy joining with my new team members and creating something worthwhile.
