Life Day celebrates values of family and joy, values which are central to George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars: Lucas defines joy as compassion — the selfless form of happiness and the light side of the Force.
Hello DJB! As the days grow shorter and winter creeps closer (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere), the Regent’s Staff is taking brief pause from our labor to honor a tradition set many years ago; Lifeday!
First appearing in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, Life Day has grown into a bigger celebration of our Fandom. Originally Life Day was a Wookiee celebration intended to celebrate their families, values and traditions. In the spirit of honoring our DB Family, our values, and our Traditions we are bringing you a competition series focused around this year’s theme: Jawas!
Just like in previous years, these competitions are intended to be simple, easy, and fun. The competition will run from site rollover on 11/17 to 12/8. That’s three whole weeks to get in your submissions.
Also continuing with Tradition, The Celebration Store will remain open for the duration of the event. We rarely get the chance to open this rare store, so this is a great opportunity to pick up some rare possessions.
Finally, also in the Spirit of Tradition, we will be offering some special prizes for the top 3 placements in the overall event. This year, the top 3 placements will receive a Special Jawa Bandolier, that allows you to carry more items in your inventory. Additionally, 1st place will be awarded a Jawa Crafted “Anchorhead” edition X-34 Landspeeder, 2nd place a Jawa Crafted “Jundland Wastes” edition Ion Blaster, and 3rd place will win an Jawa Repaired R5-Series “Dune Sea” Edition Astromech droid.
An important note about the Prizes. The Regent’s Office is aware that Jawas sometimes have a reputation for being swindlers, or selling hastily or shabbily repaired items. Fully aware of this, this year's Prizes offered up by our Jawa hosts have been fully insured by the Regent’s Office. So, unlike awards in previous years, these items, except for the Bandoliers, will be given a substantial cash value. Should they so choose, Winners can keep the items provided to us by the Jawas despite the “quirks” the item may have as mementos or trophies for victory, or the items can be sold for cold hard cash.
Given that the theme of our event is Jawas, we thought we would embrace the spirit of fun and offer up something a little different than what was offered in previous years.
With that said, we hope you have a joyous and happy Life Day. Enjoy the festivities! You can find a link to the competition below!
The Regent’s staff has been soldiering on with our mountain of work. We have one quick update for the Clans.
We have received a lot of feedback about the lack of availability of Transport slot in the Ships available for purchase by the Clans. After some discussion, we’re going to be making some changes to the Starfighter slots.
Going forward, All Ships that are Frigate sized or below, and have a hangar, will have their Starfighter slots converted to also accommodate Transports. The slot will now be called Hangar and will allow Item Type: Squadrons and Flights. All Ships that are Cruiser sized, and have a hangar, will gain a dedicated Transport Slot in a separate “Auxiliary” Hangar. Destroyers that have a hangar will be mostly unchanged, but the slots will be renamed “Starfighter Hangar” and “Auxiliary Hangar”
Additionally, the Capital Ship Upgrades “Increased Hangar I-III” will be adjusted to allow Starfighters and Transports.
Thank you for reading and remember: any questions relating to the Possessions system, item mechanics, or features can be emailed to Regent Staff at [Log in to view e-mail addresses].
