I am very pleased to announce the brand-new 2020 Chamber of Justice staff:

• Right Hand of Justice: Kalan Amak (AKA the Sultan of Salt)
  
• Left Hand of Justice: Ciara Tearnan Rothwell Tarentae
  
• Appeals Panel: Aldaric, Xolarin, and Revak Kur.
  

I received an unprecedented 26 applications in total for all of the open positions. Making things more complicated, many of those applicants were interested in all of the open spots, while some were specifically interested in one or two positions. I received many good responses to the questions I asked in the application survey -- for the record, there was no correct answer to any of the question, but some were better than others.

In fact, Ciara's answer to the final question was one of the best I've seen: she approached a recent decision with a careful eye and criticized it in a particularly thoughtful way, which is genuinely what I look to the Left Hand to do. I opted to hire Drac as Right Hand because he, too, put effort and thought into his answers and has demonstrated an unmatched work ethic and competence in his prior jobs.

For the Appeals Panel, the Covenant requires me to select members from different units. To that end, I chose members from Arcona, CNS, and COU who have never served in the CoJ in any (official) capacity, though Aldaric did step up as a temporary member of the panel last year after a recusal and served admirably in that capacity. I'm confident this panel will serve ably when called upon for the coming year. If all goes well, they won't have anything to do.

UPDATE: I meant to put this in the original post but I forgot. I can't give detailed feedback on the 21 unsuccessful applications, it's just not practical. But I am happy to chat about the process and your interest in serving on the CoJ in the future.
