Rian has recently stepped down as Consul of Taldryan. While we will open the position to applications here, I wanted to first touch on Rian, because he has been something quite special in this club. Over the last eight years, Rian has spent only about a year and a half of them outside of leadership; he has been a bulwark in Taldryan, where he has always stepped in to help the Clan whenever it needed him, wherever it needed him. It is no exaggeration to say that it is very likely that without him, Taldryan would have been closed. When the Clan needed a leader most, Rian returned to fill the void. This includes stints as a Quaestor and as a Consul, multiple times. Beyond his work as Consul, Rian has been a strong contributor to the Herald’s staff, including more than a year and a half while Augur. For these reasons, and his consistent activity, we have decided that Rian is more than deserving to join the ranks of our Elders. Now, with Rian finally stepping aside, it is time for a new leader of Taldryan. We are looking for someone to build on Taldryan’s recent surge of activity and enthusiasm, but also a leader that is aware of some of the recent troubles the Clan has had, and how to avoid them. The next Consul should have a vision for building momentum internally and for future Brotherhood events, and how to keep the unit engaged in both the Clan and the wider Brotherhood storyline. We are always open to new ideas for the fictional direction and structures of units, but members should have good reasons and details for any proposal they make on those fronts.
There is no minimum rank for this position, but we expect previous leadership experience at the Quaestor level at least. Applications are due by 3/2/2020, as Rian’s announcement has been coming for a while, even though he has only formally stepped down more recently.
