All,
I've had a pretty long day, so I'll be brief. I received a few very good applications for Praetor to the Voice. I wanted to again thank everyone who applied, and remind you that I remember everything, and have your resumes filed away in my inbox. When I get back into project work, you will be the first people I reach out to jump onto a task or team.
After reviewing the options, I decided to promote internally from my department. I will be moving Magistrate Atyiru to Praetor.
With the War coming, I'm not expecting the Praetor to be taking on a lot of big projects, and there will also be a hold on competitions being run during the War itself. The primary role will be managing the ques and working with the other magistrates to ensure Character Sheets are taken care of with attention and care and in a timely manner.
In this, there are very few I trust more than Atyiru. In the short time since joining she's left detailed remands where needed and always follows up and offers to help people with their characters and descriptions. She has continued to help proofread every Voice staff documentation or write-up as requested, and has become an invaluable asset to the team. She will be continuing to do this, while also making sure our newest Magistrate gets brought up to speed quickly with the rest of the team.
To fill her vacated position, I have selected a new Magistrate out of the Praetor application pool. Braecen will be joining the Voice Staff as the newest member. Braecen's application was formatted professionally and showed a strong commitment to helping give back to the Brotherhood by joining the team. Elders are usually content to sit back and relax, but Braecen has proven his resourcefulness as a unit leader and active member in the club.
I think this gives the Voice Staff a very well rounded representation in the Brotherhood as we now have Arcona, Scholae, and Taldryan representation. While I don't believe in rotating out staff members, it is always nice to bring in fresh eyes to the team.
If you have any issues, questions, or concerns, please feel free to email me or hit me up on Telegram. Always here to talk if you need.
That said, let me quickly outline what I will be working on, in case anyone is wondering what the Voice actually does all day.
Preparing for ACC Phase I- The details of this event are being discussed by the DC, and then will be shared with the Dark Summit for review. Pending that review, and a few last details, we'll be looking to start the event soon. This event will lead up to the Great Jedi War itself. Thank you everyone for your patience, and just know that Atra is about to be a very busy Combat Master. Which also means me too.
Great Jedi War XII Plot- I am currently working with Sarin on a plot update that will be released soon. This update will help kick things into gear and help move us forward on the path to a Great Jedi War. It's been over 2 years since we last had one, and I think it's time we shook things up. So yes, I'm actually writing things on top of regular administrative work.
GJW Planning - Beyond the plot, I will be running a series of events. More details on these events will be shared once we have concrete details nailed down. This also means a level of logistics and working with the other Dark Councilors. There are a few questions floating around that need to be answered, so I'm working on shoring up the Lore and Logistics side of things to help provide as much of a clear picture for members of all kinds as they get ready for war. This involves looking over unit fleet assets, assessing strengths and weakness, and creating a scale for threats/enemy engagement. It also involves creating and shoring up documentation to coincide with the fiction updates you'll be seeing.
Reviewing Species - I have a few Species that are under review by staff. Once the new staff is settled, I should be implementing 1-2 new species for the Brotherhood based on member-demand as well for plot development.
Writing Department Exams - We're still working on these. So far, the Run-On exam seems to be a success. I've received only positive feedback on it. Expect to see more of these, like a Fiction Studies that will mirror the style of the Run-On exam. We are also currently working on finishing up a Character Sheets fundamentals that I think will be a great resource to newbies.
Updating Documentation- Reminder: we are always updating the Wiki documentation on our guidelines, procedures, and policies. You can find all of these on the Voice Staff Resources Hub. One of the biggest notes of change is how we have started to crack down more on Physical descriptions. As a reminder:
In short, the Physical Description field is used to give a basic idea of what the character looks like, as if they appeared in a photograph and you were describing them to someone else.
This means that you do not need to list your armor and weapons functions in your physical description. You can fill in all of these details now with a combination of Possessions and the Loadouts feature.
For more information, see the Character Sheet Approval Guidelines.
Thank you again, everyone, for your patience and for sticking around. I'm happy to see the Fiction Community growing and communicating every day, which is why we want to make sure we don't rush anything and can provide and an engaging story-line for you to sink your teeth into.
Any questions, concerns, you know where to find me. Thanks.
