Wally here with a quick update and fiction drop for the new competition series I’m trying out. Check out the fiction below and then read on for details about the competitions!
Inquisitorius Briefing Room
The Dark Ascent, Arx
35 ABY
Months prior to the events of the Twelfth Great Jedi War
Marick Tyris knew that the room was naturally soundproofed thanks to the laser-blasted walls carved into the mountain. Situated deep within the Dark Ascent, the briefing room was as secure a place as any to launch a dangerous, highly classified operation in. Six agents were being trusted with secrets that pertained to the potential safety and well-being of the entire Dark Brotherhood. Missions like that were exactly why the Inquisitorius had been formed. Even the Senechal would be involved in this briefing, further adding gravity to the entire operation.
Wyndell Tyris adjusted his hat, the most important part of his outfit. “Pay attention, recruits!” Without the right hat, Marick’s brother claimed, it was impossible to truly get into a character’s head. “I, am Special-Inquisitorius-Agent Wyndell Tyris,” Wyn explained as he swept his gaze down the line-up.
Acaelus “Ace” Del’arn sighed in response, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Not much to talk about here. It’s the prologue for a reason. Anyway, this sets up the stage for the next few short fiction updates. These are not as stressful as the major updates I usually need to write—I spent a lot of time building the Collective and had a lot of these ideas for these short stories in my head for months. That said, I hope you enjoy these quick looks into the Collective, and get to see the other side of the Great Jedi War we just had.
And before you ask, yes, the Grand Master is currently working on the wrap-up fiction. When it’s ready, you will all be the first to be spammed about it. Promise.
Okay, so the real reason I decided to write these fictions was to help push my new series of competitions! Behold: The Collective Chronicles (Parent Competition!) The container will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Crescents based on total points. You gain points by placing 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. The more sub-competitions you enter, the better chance you have of taking home the overall win!
That said, these competitions are geared towards world building. The Collective, for better or worse, is here to stay. They’re going to be a thorn in our side for the near future. What better way to grow them, then, by giving all of you the chance to contribute and create characters that will be eligible to become living parts of our rival organization.
What I’m offering each of you, with these competitions, is the chance for glory and greatness...through the creation...of NPCs!
The first three competitions are all about creating characters. Your task is to create an NPC for the Collective sub-factions roster. The completed NPCs you submit will become eligible to be added to the Collective roster. The winning character from each comp, however, will be worked into the official canon fiction. But even if you don’t win, all characters that get added to the Collective roster become eligible for inclusion in future updates! I will be doing the reviews of each character, and will either create or delegate the formal website-sheets to my staff or myself. I’ve provided a template for you in two different formats. Feel free to submit your own way, however. If you have questions or need help, please let me know.
Please read the competition details carefully, and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
I’m honestly really excited about this. I’ve had these competition ideas in my head ever since the GJW ended and I finished all my grading. I hope you guys enjoy it. If you have feedback, please let me know in the comments, or hit me up on Telegram or my email: [Log in to view e-mail addresses]. Do you want more competitions like this? Or would you rather something else?
Would you be interested in similar competitions to help build the Inquisitorius, or the other Societies? Let me know! I’m not doing this stuff for me. This is all up to you guys. I look forward to seeing all the characters you guys come up with! Feed the beast!
