38 ABY The *Voidbreaker* Somewhere in Dajorra space
A crippled freighter floated, nearly dead in space. Its engines were blown, giving weak attempts to turn up, and its hyperdrive fried. It was one of the last Dawn Conclave ships that had tried to flee Ol’val. What had been so valuable that they would risk being caught to take the time to load up? It did not matter; it belonged to Arcona now. The freighter had been fired upon after being tagged as a Conclave ship. They hadn’t been able to stop the smaller vessel from jumping to hyperspace, but its hyperdrive was surely crippled. Fighters had been deployed along all possible vectors for jumps until they found a crippled freighter adrift near a jungle planet, sending out a distress beacon on Dawn Conclave channels.
The Voidbreaker dropped out of hyperspace where the scout had reported the ship. Karran Val’teo stood on the bridge, staring out of the viewport at the crippled ship before them It matched the description of the fleeing freighter and a quick scan matched the transponder codes. The Corellian vessel moved in to overtake them. All it took was a warning shot across their bridge to elicit a response.
“Captain, they’re hailing us on the comms. Their captain says he wants to surrender.”
“Very good. Miss Navis’thae Take us in to dock with them.”
“Aye aye, Captain.” The Sephi took hold of the controls and gently guided the Consular-class ship toward their prey.
Was this too easy? They had tried so hard to escape, only to surrender now?

Quarantine Quests “Though not as nasty as the Horizon plague, a respiratory illness spreading across the galaxy has forced members of the Brotherhood to hunker down and self-isolate. Sabacc is Life! “If you don't know me already, I'm The Gambler! Nothing excites me more than a High Stakes game of Sabacc! I hope it excites you as well cause i got you a puzzle. The theme is obviously Sabacc!” From our very own Aru Law, check it out! Ends April 26th.
The Pictures in the Sound One of the best examples of music coming before the image would be the original Conan The Barbarian film. That film's score was created prior to filming beginning. As a result, the scenes were altered and filmed to fit the score in a way that hadn't been done prior. This shows that sound—most notably music—instills an image in the listener.” Ends April 27th.
What Do You See? “Sitting in his dorm, Gui contemplated the meaning of the words flashing within his mind. "Peace. Knowledge. Serenity. Harmony. The Force." They stirred up imagery that caused his lips to crease into a smile. They meant the world to him. He dedicated his life to honoring them. But his smile would soon fade as his imagination shifted. ‘Passion. Strength. Power. Victory. The Force." But somewhere in between, there was a "Balance.’ You see, all things lead to the Force. As he sat there, he visualized each word as a manifestation. ‘Peace became an untouched terrain, Strength became a mother fighting back tears over the loss of a child, the Force became an all encompassing swirl of energy that flowed like a soothing breeze.’” Ends April 27th.

Shaken, Not Stirred “Let's face it: The Brotherhood should have some signature cocktails. What would be yours? Referring to recipe sites online, create a staple cocktail for your Main/Alt, someone else's Main/Alt, your clan, another clan, the Dark Council, one of the Brotherhood's many societies, or the Brotherhood as a whole, using real and/or Star Wars ingredients. The recipe should have an original name, a list of ingredients, measurements of said ingredients, and step by step instructions on how to prepare it.” Ends April 30th.
Let the Hunt Begin “Stories tell of the feats accomplished within the Brotherhood its soldiers, warriors, and pilots beyond peer. It's time to tackle a collection of gaming challenges and prove your worth among your fellow members.” Ends May 1st.
[Fist] Shelter In Place 2020 “In ‘celebration’ of the almost universal order to stay inside for the time being, the Fist office is hosting a series of competitions related to our gaming platforms. Many of these competitions do not require activity within a game itself and are simply tangential to a supported platform.” Ends May 9th.
[ACE] GFX: Dream Storefront Logo Designer “Your character has finally leased out a space and launched their dream storefront. Who knows what new (and terrifying) experiences await those who cross its threshold?! But what everyone will see is the logo announcing its existence. For this competition, you are to design this logo and submit it.” Ends May 10th.
[ACE] Multi-Objective: Boring Conversation Anyway “Even in times of apparent peace—if any such time existed—there is always conflict of some kind. The still surface waters grant a facade over the churning movements found in the depths far below. Espionage. Extortion. Diplomatic maneuvering. All this and more exists in the world of business. Even more so on the galactic scale. Arx Capital Exchange (ACE) is not immune to this truth. Nor is it above participating. In the wake of negotiations with the Severian Principate, ACE has begun edging into the Principate's business sector through a series of trade deals. But it has not been going as smoothly as its executives had hoped. There is push back from within, with local enterprises undercutting ACE at each step, and even offering never before seen prototypes that are catered to the Principate's growing needs with a kind of accuracy market research alone couldn't grant them. Obviously, above board maneuvering could only get ACE so far. It's time to bend the rules...or ignore them entirely. You have been presented with the opportunity to participate in an ACE initiative within Severian Principate territory. The following avenues have been opened, but the choice is yours to make.” Ends May 10th.
Combat Writing - Fighting Yourself “The addition of alt and NPC slots has led to many members having more than one character. Have you ever wanted to have your primary character fight your alternate or spar with one of your NPCs? Now’s your chance! The setting (venue) and reason for the conflict are up to you but write a combat-focused story where two of your characters (that you have loadouts for) get into a conflict that leads to a physical altercation. The conflict can be anything from sparring, a bet, a misunderstanding, to full-blown life or death struggle. There just needs to be action! This competition is intended as an exercise in combat writing similar to the ACC.” Ends May 13th.
Spring Break Fashion “Springs out, guns out. What does your character (or alt, or NPC, or character) sport while catching some rays or enjoying some time in the water? Draw it out!” Ends May 15th.

"How is Karran handling Sera's transfer off the VB? Asking for a friend."
Karran answers: "I am happy for her. She is doing well for herself. Of course, I do miss her presence. Also, be in the training room at 0400."
"I hear you've already replaced Sera with a new horn-polishing friend. Is there any truth to this rumor?"
Karran answers: "There is no validity in this statement. However, in traditional Zabraki relationships, there is no ‘replacement’."
“How are you doing over there, Captain?”
Karran Answered: “I am quite alright.”
“Okay but really, how are you doing?”
Karran Answered: “Truly, I am fine.”
“I mean for real, you doing alright?”
Karran Answered: “I am fine, Sulith. Really.”
“Need a hug?”
Karran Answered: “Yes, but not for any particular reason.”
“Oh, also: Planning on getting any more tattoos?”
Karran Answered: “Nothing in particular. However, should an event come up meriting the an addition, I will let you know.”
“What are your thoughts on having both battle teams being commanded by a Zabraki couple?”
Karran Answered: “I believe it will bring our teams closer together. But I would not read too much into it.”
“Ready for some ass whooping when I challenge you?”
Karran Answered: weary sigh prepares Force choke “I am ready when you are.”
“How would you drink whiskey?” (This is the most important question)
Karran Answered; IC: “I am not much of a fan of whiskey. But it does mix nicely with certain carbonated beverages.” OOC: Neat, double, room temperature. If it’s a particularly strong scotch, one cube of ice.
“Can you describe Karran's current mental state and goals? What does he want? What's he looking to achieve and why?”
Karran Answered: “He’s looking to keep getting stronger. This recent bump in strength has him on a metaphorical (or is it?) warpath.”
“What is Karran's definition of Sith? Why does he consider himself one/what does it mean to him?”
Karran Answered: “Being a Sith means freedom. It means having access to power that others do not. What an individual does with that power is the most telling thing about them. He tries to use his power for the general good.”
“How's Karran think of each of his masters? Does he want an apprentice? Rule of Two?”
Karran Answered: “He likes both of them and learned valuable lessons from each of them. His burning flame for Ruka has lessened a bit, but hasn’t gone out. As for taking an apprentice, he would love one. He did his best with Yezid, but the boy’s talents just didn’t fit his training style. And the Rule of Two? That is a practice that weakened us in the long run. Although the premise was valid. The old ways weeded out the weak, but often went too far leaving us vulnerable, however, the Rule of Two allowed the Sith to exist secretly, and ascend to power, but it was a thin thread that was too easily cut.”
“We know he loves spice, what's his favorite food? Least favorite?”
Karran Answered: “He loves traditional Zabraki stew. Hearty, not difficult to make, and full of flavor. He’s not a huge fan of sweets. Although, a little bit here and there isn’t bad.”
“How about YOURS?”
Karran Answered: “I really love seafood. Especially Cajun style. It’s hard to pin down one exact dish, but blackened or fried catfish never disappoints.”
“What #DarkestTimeline matches would you most like to have if you could fight anybody and any character and why?”
Karran Answered: “It’s a draw between Sera and Atyiru. They both have such potential.”
“Same I asked Sera, what's your favorite piece of DB fiction, either by you or anyone else? Favorite non DB thing/game/book/movie?”
Karran Answered: “DB fiction? I might have to say my ACC with Marick. If I was to submit a piece for my best writing, and one of the best opponents, I’d pick that one. Non-DB, I’m not sure. Dungeons and Dragons is great. Does that count?”
“Something you're looking forward to as BTL? Something that you're nervous about?”
Karran Answered: “I’m excited to see the outcome of this report’s fiction and people’s response to it. Nervous? Same answer.”
“How are Baby and the birdie doing? Who's been watching them?”
Karran Answered: “They’re good. They get excited when Karran comes to visit, which is every time he stops off on Selen. Yezid has been taking good care of them.”
“What's Yezid up to?”
Karran Answered: “He’s been trying to infiltrate the drug trade on Selen. But other than that, he looks after the homestead and chats up his Selenian maybe-girlfriend-but-not-really-but-kinda-it’s-sorta-complicated-and-awkward. He also has taken some advice from Atyiru and focused more on feeling things and not shutting everything out.”
"Do you take notes during RP events to see what went well and what didn't, I can see some coaching being helpful to make sure everyone is on the same page. Like rules of realism for example."
Karran Answered: "I try. But there are a lot of moving parts, and there is typically a lot of crosstalk, so certain things tend to get lost. A quick outline of the rules for realism isn't a bad idea though."
“How are you enjoying your new superior (Aedile)?”
Karran Answered: “Things seem to be going well, although, his predecessor was more adept at whipping people into shape.”
“How is Karran holding up now that his horny 'friend' has relocated to Galeres?”
Karran Answered: “It’s difficult. They had a strong bond. She helped tie him to his cultural roots.”
“How's the Voidbreaker holding up? I hope you've kept up your track record of not ramming it into other things…”
Karran Answered: looks at fiction “Not ramming exactly…”
"Excited for WAHR?!"
Karran Answered: “I am a weapon in Zabraki form. Simply unsheath me and point me in the direction of the enemy.”
Honestly, there have been so many things since my last report in...oops. February. Not sure what happened in March, but I’ll be more careful next time.
All well deserved awards! I hope to see more down the line!
As you can see if you read the fiction (if you haven't, stop reading now and go read the fiction. I worked hard on that), our Battleteam might be seeing some changes. Not to worry, more information and resources will be coming shortly.
The Voidbreaker Crew Manifest is an open access Google sheet that allows any member of the Voidbreaker Battleteam to fill in where they would like to work on the ship. We will be using this as a reference for fictions to create a degree of realism. If you happen to have multiple characters, you can fill in multiple lines. Think about your character and where they would most likely be working day to day on the ship. Are they technically inclined? Perhaps they would be useful either in the engine room making sure everything runs smoothly or on the bridge ensuring cyber security. Is your character a medic? We could always use more hands in the medbay. Is your Sith always itching for a fight? Report for boarding duty. Are they an ace pilot? We've got a couple squadrons of fighters that could use you. Whatever your character is good at, we can find a place for them on the ship.
