A Summit of Seers - Commission by KaRolding
Welcome, my angels (hah), to another Consul report! We’ve got Sins results, we’ve got big Brotherhood news, we’ve got appointments galore, we’ve got an #asktheatty section that turned out to be way longer than I expected because I sent out the call like four times and now it’s 3am and I’m regretting my life choices except for the one to lead YOU BEAUTIFUL SNOWFLAKES so let’s get this show on the road! breathes
Everyone looking at this report be like.
I know, it’s long (which is what she said), but read anyway. I’ll see you at the end (oh wait no I won’t []P ).
Hey. You. This is important. Get back here and read, don’t skim.
The revised Dark Covenant is up for review, and there’s hardly a paragraph that hasn’t been completely rewritten. The very fabric that holds our little corner of the universe together is being restitched, and we are directing its stitches. It’s that dramatic, that impactful. Listen. Look. This is what defines us as a community, what separates our home here from so many other online organizations. The document might be long, and it might be boring, but it is important.
Go here. Read Jac’s report and open up the attached copy of the New Covenant. Read it over. Comment. Take half an hour out of your day this week to do so. Take half an hour to understand what’s about to happen to your life in this club. Take half an hour to have a say in exactly what that is.
Reviews are due by September 4th. Don’t miss this.
Why is Atty being so melodramatic and hammering this home so much? Because it really does matter, guys. It really does. If you feel like reading as much — and this, at least, I don’t expect you to — then let me explain. Below is an excerpt from a paper I wrote for my Anthropology final last spring. It was an ethnography, meaning our job was to pick a culture, any culture — religious, ethnic, etc, to your soccer team or your World of Warcraft guild. I chose to explain our club.
“The Dark Jedi Brotherhood’s governing structures are some of its most unique and defining qualities in a forum where many similar websites and fanclubs are run entirely by the whim of their creators or prominent membership. The Brotherhood contains not only several levels of organization in its leadership, but also executive, judiciary and legislative branches that maintain, enforce, and create laws upon which the club operates that protect every member. The club, then, also has its own documented legislation and member rights, designed after the fashion of a constitution or similar compact. This documentation, called the Dark Covenant, serves to establish the law of the metaphorical land: it defines and protect member rights; defines the methods by which new laws may be created or old ones revised; defines the appointment and impeachment of club leaders; defines the role and powers of club leaders and benefactors; defines punishments which may be administered in the case of a breach of the Covenant or member rights; defines the process by which members may be tried in the case of a breach of Covenant or member rights and the due process thereof; and defines the abilities of the club’s various governmental branches.
The Dark Jedi Brotherhood...displays the individualist characteristics of focusing on member rights and freedoms. The club highly values personal freedoms and ability as well as attitudes of permissiveness and autonomy, evidenced by the relative autonomy of all its units and the members within them. While the Brotherhood has many rules in place, by great margin its regulations are individually set guidelines operating under broader, distant management. However, the club does also show collectivistic tendencies, which have increased in recent years, being based upon shared interests, emphasizing the good of the community, and advocating collaboration, especially at higher ranks.
...The nature of many online communities is one of anonymity, and thus, many of these communities are authoritarian in their operations. Behavior must be controlled, strictly, and members are vulnerable to the whims of their authoritative figures. Under the Dark Covenant, the Brotherhood strives to hold up individuals and their novelties, and in doing so permits greater levels of unpredictability and uncertainty in member behavior, with fewer formal rules, lending to a lower level of uncertainty avoidance. This, in turn, plays well to the club’s volunteer nature — more members are likely to join, feeling wanted and welcome, when more types of people are accepted and integrated...Where in other clubs, high power distance places leaders far above their members, the Brotherhood is a bastion of relative equality, operating under a very low power distance. Its leaders are all selected from the pool of its members, and return there at the end of their tenures. Positions that, in early years, were held possessively by a handful of people are now open to many sorts of individuals and subject to change as the needs of the unit change. Even ranking in the Brotherhood, while generating a certain level of prestige, offers no one member any greater importance or value than any other. All members and leaders have the same rights, the same freedoms, and must be beholden to the same laws and punishments. Even the unsavory pitfalls of cliquishness, nepotism, and insularity that were once more common in a more unequal culture have, over the last several years, diminished. And, while these advancements still have much room to continue, as these pitfalls still exist, the Brotherhood’s increasingly open culture and highly autonomous, freedom-valuing nature nonetheless provide a roughly equal society for its members to flourish in…”
And that’s all I have to say about that.
Now for something a little lighter and due a lot more “hell yeah’s!” Mav recently released a DGM Update detailing the second quarter review of the Clans. If that sounds boring to you, know that it’s actually pretty damn awesome. And why?
Because we’re pretty damn awesome.
You can read and see the numbers here, but suffice to know that Arcona once again stood strong or dominated in every category, especially competition participation and organization. Give yourselves some well-deserved HOORAHS, people!
Momma Atty’s hella proud.
Our own Combat Master, Walladore, has published six new Disciplines for Non-Force Users. You can go and read all about them in his report. Pilots, smugglers, saboteurs, circuit-brains, you’ve got it all.
Check them out! You just might find yourself tempted to make a change (Atty is absolutely going NFU character one day when she retires ahahaha...retiring…).
See the latest Herald report? The art community finally got its own Cluster! Awww yissss. You all now have more Clusters you can hoard — and you needn’t be able to do more than stick figures to participate in the Herald sponsored comps that give them out. You can check out these new Clusters of Graphite in all their glory and more in the above report. Cheers to Vyr and staff. Best tree.
Gaming continues to grow now that the Fist-o-Matic is officially in place on Telegram, a course on which you can here, composed and updated by Farrin and company. Thanks, guys!
Meanwhile, the first stage of Possessions Beta is underway, and Evant is still accepting applications/sign ups for beta testers. If you’re interested, fill out this form.
As a final note, CNS is looking for a Quaestor. You can check out application information here if interested.
Catchy pun brought to you by Katicorn.
We’ve been in the business of training our potential leaders on up since long before I was around, and it’s a tradition we’re continuing of late. I get to bring you four “new” leaders today, and what a pleasure it is.
Last month, with Wuntila’s retirement, we saw our dear lizard/now humie of many names, Larrik Dul’vak/Zakath promoted from Battleteam Leader of TMR to Aedile of Galeres, as mentioned in the Sins II conclusion. His Battleteam Sergeant, Tamashi was, in turn, selected to be the next BTL of Tal’mae’Rah. Congrats to the both of you amazing gents! Read more about the change and its fiction here in Braecen’s last update.
Similarly, this last week, House Qel-Droma opened applications for Aedile. It’s my delight today to congratulate K’tana on her promotion, and Zujenia in turn on being appointed the new Gatewardeness with Kat’s elevation. We believe in both of you beautiful unicorns, glittery and zombified alike. You’ll make us even more fabulous. For full details and Terran’s official annoucement, check out QD’s latest report!
Brae-Brae and some of our local gaggle of gamer genteels — thank you to Mirus, Ernor, Warp, Celahir, Aexod, and Mord — are spearheading a new project titled, you guessed it, Iron Fist. This project is centered on expanding Arconan gaming from a multidirectional approach: increased community, increased skill, and increased recruitment, all while maintaining our regular gaming comps like ADG. The idea here is to train up our gamers, provide more social gaming night opportunities, and get our word out there. Keep on the lookout for more news as it develops.
For now, though, here’s a preview:
In the meanwhile, you can enjoy your rest month and look to developing your individual and team stories and kicking back with some competitions.
That’s a wrap, folks! I’m very proud of each of you for all your contributions to this event. While we break it down in detail below, it’s fair to surmise that y’all kicked ass this time, with large improvements from Episode I.
Due congratulations are in order to this Episode’s winners: congrats to Kordath Bleu, Tamashi Bloodfyre, and Zujenia and Celevon Edraven Erinos on their respective first, second, and tied third place finishes. Congrats also to Braecen and Ernordeth on their fifth place ties. Well done, all of you!
Before we dive into things, I want you all to direct your attention to THIS SURVEY RIGHT HERE. Please, please, please — she said politely, despite the fact that she’s telling you and not asking :D — go take it and give us your feedback. We wanna improve Sins for you. Help us do it.
If you are confused about the story at this point — who means what, why what’s where, how it’s connected, etc — try reading the updates so far straight through as the single story they are. Reading them episodically each week may exacerbate any feelings of “jumblyness” or disconnect. You’re not supposed to know everything yet, just like your characters don’t. Just remember...read and find out. And if you’ve questions, ask us!
Now, we bring you an excerpt of the concluding fiction, as written by one of our winners, Braecen.

Dusk Station
Selen, Dajorra System
The Lambda-class T-4a shuttle set down on Dusk Station with one metallic thud as the repulsors whined against the exertion. At the rear of the vessel, the ramp begun to lower and several individuals exited in unison. At the forefront, her white braid over her left shoulder, marched the Shadow Lady. Atyiru commanded nothing short of absolute loyalty from her Elders.
She had built her empire on their backs. Some had been cajoled, others bribed, but otherwise they had all become hostage to her charisma and her hold on the Clan. To defy her meant certain death from the other Elders, to follow her agenda granted a moment of peace and protection – it was a prison of wills. None greater, none stronger, than the Shadow Lady’s though.
At her flanks came Timeros and Marick — her most loyal Lieutenants. Behind them trailed Braecen and Valhavoc. It was a deliberate move; two from Qel-Droma, two from Galeres. Two she trusted wholly, two she needed to know if she could trust. She had her suspicions about both Braecen and Valhavoc.
Timeros had assured her that he would report anything to her immediately, but the Galeres Quaestor had become wily with time in service, his reports less frequent, his trips not fully documented or logged by Officers aboard the Darkest Night. Officers whom were supposed to be loyal to her first and foremost. Valhavoc had served at the side of the Grand Master for well over a year. She suspected his motives for joining Arcona were false and at the request of the Iron Throne. Why else would anyone leave the comforts of the Office of the FIST to become a lowly member of a Clan?
She could not see, but she sensed a more pressing issue as she neared the doors to the inner workings of the facility. As the Lady of the Dajorra System, she should have been received by the station’s Officers with a small parade of troops. Their absence concerned her deeply. She flicked her wrist forward, “Braecen. Valhavoc.” The pair tensed and awaited orders. “Breach these doors and clear a path to the Code White vault.”
The pair darted forward. A pair of white flames erupted from the hilts in Braecen’s hands while an E-11 carbine materialized in Valhavoc’s hands. The Quaestor punched a secure sequence into the doors, but an error message beeped and a red light flashed. Timeros raised his hands and plied his fingers, blowing the doors inward with the power of the Dark Side. Silently, the lead pair entered into the darkness and darted forward.
Atyiru marched deliberately forward, every step measured and calm. The Force wrapped her in a cocoon and cautioned her against rash actions. While she desperately wanted to charge forward, the Light Side of the Force urged against such reckless action. She would arrive exactly when she needed. No sooner. No later. Her loyal Champions stayed by her side. Neither questioned her actions or her motives.

White Level, Dusk Station
Selen, Dajorra System
Valhavoc’s carbine was leveled towards the darkly clad invaders. He pulled the trigger continuously and crimson bolts raced out from the barrel to find their marks. The Eminent dutifully pushed forward from the right flank of the Sith Elder before him. He matched the Juggernaut step for step as the pair began to ingress the defenses of Teroch’s forces.
Braecen’s twin blades created fans of white, brilliant light that intercepted numerous bolts hailing at them from all directions. He could not exert enough will to redirect each bolt, instead sending them off in numerous directions. The Force directed his hands, though, keeping the pair safe as they worked towards cover. The Mercenary rolled in a quick somersault from the Sith’s right to his left, taking cover from the barrage that met them. Braecen heavily crashed into the large containers beside his fellow Elder of the Iron Throne.
“They seem agitated,” Braecen laughed. “I don’t think they like us.”
“We have to clear the path quicker, Kaeth,” the cold tone of Valhavoc dowsing the joyful light in Braecen’s eyes.
“Alright, then,” the Sith barked. “Behind me.”
The pair emerged from cover. Braecen sped forward as both blades whirled in sequence. He cut through several of the invaders before they could react to the all-out attack. Kaeth drew up short at an intersection and locked his feet to the ground. From here he would rather die than give an inch. Valhavoc slid into position at his side. He barked an order and the Sith instinctively obeyed by creating a barrier before them to repel blaster fire. Two grenades were released from his hands. They beeped madly as they tumbled through the air and landed beside their foes.
An explosion rocked the landscape and tossed both friend and foe violently against bulkheads and hallways. An eerie quiet settled into the passage as the trio of Atyiru, Marick, and Timeros marched over the corpses — and, with regretful determination, their wounded allies — towards the vault of Mejas Doto.
Through the Force, Atyiru could sense the insanity pouring outward from the Dark Jedi Master of Clan Arcona. She could also sense a more familiar presence: Teroch. She reached for the beautiful, ornate hilt at her waist. Beside her, the Combat Master and a Combat Master Emeritus mirrored her, moving for their weapons.
The battle for Dusk Station was about to begin.
Alright, people. Pull up your chairs, turn around your hats, and roll up your sleeves, ‘cause we’re about to get down and dirty...but not that kind of dirty. Sorry. :P I give you…drumroll...a SUPERHUGE infographic (brought to you by Terran):
Compared to Episode I, we also saw some particular improvement in the Puzzle comp. For one...people finished it and placed. :P It seems like the crossword was much more accessible than our first waveform reverse knock code, heh. Still, many of your submissions had slight errors that borked you overall. Remember, kids, when doing puzzles like that — because Vendettas in the last year have had crosswords — always a) double check your spelling and completeness of answers and b) count your spaces and letters. The nature of the beast means that one mistake inevitably creates at least two wrong answers, and has the potential to screw up the whole thing. Careful patience, even under time pressure, is your friend on these.
And then, there was your Special Event…I’d like to point out that, back in Episode I, 3/6 of the “top placers” (defined as fifth place or higher) were those who participated in the Special Event. In Episode II, all 6/6 of the top placers participated in the Special Event. It’s worth more for a reason, kids. These are the events we really want you to practice, the ones we don’t see as many of outside very important Vendettas, like GJWs. There will be many fiction comps...but we might not see an RO or ACC one for some months if at all between now and our next War. Practice. Hone your skills. Carefully prioritize your time and choose which events you do, especially if you can’t do them all.
That said, let’s dig in a little deeper.
This...was a wow. Just, that. I’m damn proud of how many of you participated, how many of you tried multiple matches, and how many of you supported your brothers and sisters by making yourselves available for proofing and collaboration — especially in finding new proofers to expand your resources. Some of you had been allergic to the ACC but still made a solid attempt, and many of you showed the kind of ‘three-in-the-morning gotta get something posted even if it’s not great, just carry on’ dedication that’s going to be vital come Wartime.
I repeat: I’m proud.
I do want to discuss with you all the scoring format, as it was designed to be particularly harsh. We wanted to ensure three things: most chiefly, that people didn’t Timeout. Timing out is the worst option. In War, it will cost you, just as it cost you here. Even a crappy, nonsensical post just over the word minimum is better than that.
The other two things we wanted to promote, correspondingly, were time management and polishing skill. For these reasons, even losses hurt you. The thought was that, if you lost one match, you’d enter again, win one, and be fine to balance it out. By the time the competition was midway through, we found we weren’t happy with how that format turned out. It was more punishing than we’d ever intended it to be, and we saw people diligently trying their best match after match slipping further down the scoreboard. We saw people shrinking away from playing again or playing at all because a loss would just hurt. That’s no bueno. What we wanted — and what I still want from all of you — was for you to practice and take your time in delivering the best post you could without timing out. To do that, you’d need to make sure you didn’t take on too many matches at once, studied CS’s appropriately, got a proofer, so on, all the good ACC qualities. And that did happen — but it still hurt.
Below, I have two tables for you all. The first is the final scoreboard with our established point system, wherein loses were worth -1 point. The second is a revised system wherein losses were worth 0; it wouldn’t help you, and so not promote just “getting points for trying,” but it wouldn’t hurt.
Actual Scoring
Place | Member | Points |
---|---|---|
1st | Kordath | 7.5 |

As you can see, the results are widely different, to say the least. Everything’s crystal clear in hindsight, and in hindsight, I would’ve liked to use the latter scoring methodology. It’s something to consider in the future — perhaps one of the possibilities the ACC staff will consider in the War.
Regardless...I want you all to know we’ve seen your efforts, and that we’re proud. To those of you who TO’d...try again. To those of you that lost, try again. To the winners, keep going. To those who didn’t participate, grab a friend and go do a match! Qualify if you’re not qualified.
If you practice, you will get better.
And getting better and better is what Arconans do best.
Last time we discussed and established the ideological factions — different schools of thought that draw different people together and lead to certain goals and actions — in Arcona. These “factions" have long been developing amongst all our individual characters and in the stories we as a Clan have told, and they’ll be our device to further establish ourselves and develop now! They’re our boats to help us along in the fictional sea of the New Order storyline, its eventual War wrap up, Sins of the Past, everything from DB to BT level, and more.
It’s still a very big chart.
If you want to go back over the specifics and thorough details of all the factions, refer back to my last report.
Reminder that some of the standing Summit and Arconae (and a Barabel) have all declared their factions to help out as a reference. You can check them for an idea of who’s who, where, doing what — just bear in mind that while YOU know these allegiances, your characters likely don't.
We saw movements from all of these groups over the course of Sins II. The stories may be of a different scope and scale than the DB story, with these strange attacks from “Mr. Blue” and company, but they are nonetheless woven of the same threads.
Among the Champions we saw Zujenia helping aid Undesirables fleeing Inquisitors, managing to save two children and transport them safely away with Jedi allies; we saw hints at Braecen’s questionable (Iron) loyalties through the eyes of the Nighthawk crew; we saw the Shadow Hearts gathering before crisis struck to plan a possible coup; we saw Uji spearheading the search for traitors with Zakath as his new right-hand lizard for the Operatives; and we saw Terran of the Wildcards getting really annoyed at all this kark going on between him and his paychecks.
What’s next for all these groups? How will the events of Sins affect them, and each of you? How will your stories continue to build under the New Order?
Go find out.
Before we get into the pretty-shinies and the glory, I want to take a moment to happily welcome two familiar faces to their new home. Welcome (and welcome back) to the family, Xia Long and Valhavoc. It’s a pleasure to have two more of the Brotherhood’s brightest with us (clearly, Atty is going to have to expand that Prison of Elders. Yes, Brae, I’m finally acknowledging it. No, Brae, you can’t actually have an official one in fiction. Just enjoy the metaphor. :P)
Without any further ado, because I know how much y’all look forward to scrolling right down to your name and feeling proud — as you should — feast your eyes on our latest triumphs.

Holy report, Batman! Thank you Atyiru for another brilliant report. And congratulations, again, to our top placers in Sins Episode II: Kordath, Tamashi, Zujenia, and Celevon. Make sure you fill out that survey !!!
#StormieforCON
I love the pic at the start, wish I could afford some :(
Uji, or a Cat. A cat is fine too.
Nice report Shadow Lady! I did your quick survey thing, looking forward to more events. :)
Congrats everyone for everything!!! Sins placement and participation, New leaders, new members, awards and promotions, Atty and Terran for another amazing event, and everyone just being awesome!
Looking forward to what we bring next Arcona.
Well... Love the split in Arcona. Sigh, if I were one of you Tisto would probably be an operative... Also who would possibly betray Atty?!
ArCOUna means family, and family means we will break the Iron Throne. <3
Impressive work on Sins, everybody, and impressive infographics to match. As an ACC Judge it was nice to see so many quality matches flying through the queue.
#ArCOUnaVersusTheWorld
Also, if the Iron Throne is stupid enough to actually kidnap Atty, while she may value our lives over her own she will just have to accept being rescued, m'kay?
#ArCOUnaMeansFamily
Stormagedon, Queen of the North! Congratulations to Zuji and Kat! Also, Ivoshar grew up and is baller now!
Awesome report. This is a high standard for any Consul or DCer, even, to live up to. Keep up the amazing work, Atty!
I love seeing others draw the robes I designed. They look fantastic.
Atty is my favorite ArcCON.
Also... damn, Brae, that's some good fiction.
