“So they took a..wot, field trip?” asked the Ryn, squinting at the datapad in front of him as if to discern some hidden meaning.

“Team building exercise,” replied the Kiffar across the desk, his tone dry. “Something about a hostile environment and working together.”

Kordath snorted, “They want a hostile bloody environment, they can go a few miles outside o’ Estle and find it. What’s Primus got that we don nae?”

Terran Koul keyed something on the pad in his hand and turned it show the Ryn, who let out a whistling snort through his fluted nose.

“Big bleedin’ lizard. Grot must be in heaven. Though I do nae know how ta take this bit in Qyreia’s report about Satsi….’almost communing with the local wildlife’. Best not to ask questions.”

They sat in silence, both eyeing the next report sitting on the desk.

“Nasty business. That sorta kark keeps up and we’re gonna have ta ditch the show and send a bloody legion in.”

“We should let Rhylance and Lucine try and fix the situation, first, don’t you think?”

Kordath shifted uncomfortably in the chair, glancing down at Ivoshar who was staring towards the doorway. His thoughts went to the images he’d seen attached to the report. While his own bodyguard had practically ran to a shuttle to go to the Shadowport after reports of the injuries incurred, Bleu had been reluctant to go as well. His place was on Selen, and coordinating efforts from the Citadel was more his job than chasing attempted murderers on Ol’val.

“Aye. It’s their shop, but I survived Whallta, mate, we ain’t lettin’ that happen again. If they can nae handle it, we will.”

Clan News

Welcome to the first report of 2019! Hope we all survived the New Year’s fun, let’s get it rolling! Post-Rites we saw some awesome stuff come about, for one our Science Chiss, Rhylance, picked up a Sapphire Blade and Rulvak a promotion to Equite 4!

We also saw a nice payday, which has filled out the Arconan fleets and defenses just a bit more. A handful of fighter squadrons have been added, as well as some more flights of Decimators. More importantly, we’ve picked up a MC75 Cruiser and an Immobolizer! The MC75 is set to remain on station opposite Dusk Station in defense of Selen, and is thus part of the DDF. Unless we need to fight something the AEF can’t handle. The MC75 (yes, currently unnamed, keep an eye out for some fleet-related competitions!) is going to be a dual-role ship, in defense and heavy support. The Immobilizer is our very first Interdictor and will feature heavily in future anti-Collective stories as we, well...rob and steal.

So, keep an eye out for competitions related to the ships!

On an unrelated note to all this, we’ve got some returning members this month that I’m happy to see rejoining the Arconan family! Welcome back Sildrin, Esca/Arcia/C’ree and Sight/Mako! So many names!

Brotherhood News

Well, the biggest news since the Rites ended would be Atra stepping down from Combat Master. He’s had a very positive impact on the ACC these past two years and as someone who worked with him as a Judge, I’m sad to see him go. Applications are still open for this and for Fist Magistrate spots! M:Fist is a fun position for those into gaming and those wanting to learn, and it should be noted that the workload is enough to warrant Sacramental rewards for the last few people who did the job. These applications are closing soon so get on it!

Not a lot going on this month, but keep an eye out for February where the Third (Second Club-Wide) iteration of ‘Arcona Presents: Valentine’s Day’ or ‘A:VD’ will be running for the whole month! This is a chance for some of them tasty higher level Crescents and will feature a co-operative writing event.

    • He's not happy. While he himself wasn't very close to either person hurt, Strong won't leave him alone about it. He's very close to sending in the Arconan Legions and just dismissing the facade if Qel-Droma can't sort the problem out themselves.

    • Sprout has been...uhh...taking BCI jobs that he thinks he can manage on his own. Finding lost pets and such. The mess on Ol'val is annoying, and he may end up having to play some counter-sniper games if things keep going as they are.

  • What would you say about the Master/Student program to new members? How did you find your own experience with it?
    
    • I'd say it can be a very rewarding experience, it helps nail down a character relationship in fiction, and helps a person have a 'go-to member' for in depth questions, rather than pounding the chats.

  • When are we going to face another Clan in 1 vs 1 competition?
    
    • This has been a vexing thing, as our options are somewhat limited by the activity spread the Club currently faces. I can't give an exact date, but we are trying to arrange something.
      
  • What do you consider as Consul to be a quality level of activity? Not the minimum but more so when you look and appreciate someones activity? What does that look like across competition participation, projects and general association?
    
    • Projects are a finicky thing, and we're not great at hounding people about them. This is meant to be fun, after all. As for general activity? It's not hard to pull ten competitions a month just doing things idly. More than that is great, less is fine too, this is a place of fun, after all, but I will say that I look at those who do 10 or more, plus social activity, when considering leaders.
      
  • With it being the first report of the new year - would you be able to break down activity levels between the two houses over the prior year in some fashion and what you'd like to see in comparison for 2019? Give us some goals to shoot for in each House?
    
    • I'm curious about this as well and am trying to sort out how to do it. I will say off the top of my head, I suspect more activity came out of Qel-Droma, but more Crescents and Clusters came out of Galeres.
