Man am I behind on getting you guys a report! This will be fairly short in terms of original content, though not for lack of goings-on in the wider DJB. We have our reasons, and not just because we’re tired and don’t have enough access to caf. Totally not the reason! We’re pathological procrastinators too, dammit, and we demand proper representation!
But we love you all, so we’ve knuckled down to bring you some of the latest and greatest from across the Brotherhood. So without further ado, on to the news!
After some preliminaries behind the scenes, the various team leaders from each Clan have been allocated for the ProBowl, and the event for everyone else goes live tomorrow, July 10th. Different from the GJWs and Vendettas we’re more familiar with, the ProBowl is more in line with friendly sports games, with team captains and a draft-pick assortment of players, so that at the end there’s no one Clan standing above the rest. It’s strictly a members-centric thing.
’But Q,’ you might be asking, ’I’ve never heard of the ProBowl before. It’s not in any Shadow Academy course, and there’s been seven of these things. Why is that?’ Well much like our annual Arcona Valentine’s Day, the ProBowl isn’t an official Brotherhood thing, though unlike AVD it started very small — just two or three Clans. It wasn’t until this, the year of our Hutt, 2023, that it’s become a truly Brotherhood-wide event. So yeah, for us in Arcona, this might be a bit new. But like anything else: if you decide to do the thing, just make sure you’re having fun doing it. Otherwise, what’s the point, right?
So if that’s your cup of tea, go check out the competitions and collect yourself some sweet shiny things. You can find the team release report here. Want to skip the report and get straight to the team rosters? Then look no further for the Google Drive spreadsheet here.
Trying to get a little more in-depth with our Houses, this month we have Galeres with their latest addition to the planet Eldar: the city of Ekkar. While for the last half decade, Galeres has slowly made progress in reestablishing influence over the planet Eldar, one of the other bodies of the Dajorra System, after it was abandoned when Arcona and the system were hit with a debilitating plague in an attempt to consolidate resources. After a brief but lackluster civil war between the local peoples — the reptilian Keadeans’ reinvigorated feudal dominion and the human Sardinian theocracy — Galeres was able to stabilize the situation.
The pause in the action was used to create the new city of Ekkar, established as something of a colony for settlers from both ethno-cultural groups to coexist, and function as a unified capital for the planet away from the older (if architecturally more impressive) capitals of Shihon and Sufre. To cement its position, and provision it with both trade and Arconan ability to reinforce it, the Galerians established the Ubaba starport within the city.
Looking forward to seeing what they do with this shiny new thing.
Always subject to change, but always here to give you a better and better idea of what’s coming up. Because knowledge is power! That said, while we aren’t planning on any other major Arcona events this year, we are planning on doing some one-off pieces for gradual plot development and filling in some gaps in our lore. And if you are planning on running something, let us know so we can put it on our planning calendar and give you some love in the report!
You guys might note a drop off in the Q’s presence in the coming weeks because I’m coming home! After nine-ish months, it’s about time, but that comes with it some additional stressors and distractions that will temporarily mean I’m less present than I’d like to be. Upside of course is that I will be back in a normal (for me) time zone and can go back to kicking butt just in time for the War this fall. As always, I can be reached by e-mail at [Log in to view e-mail addresses], on Telegram with @QyreiaArronen, or on Discord @Qyreia#9352. You can find Atty at [Log in to view e-mail addresses], or @Atty#3546 on Discord. And if you’re bored, feel free to follow my meant-for-recruiting-but-still-fun in-character Twitter feed @TheRedQek!
