Great Jedi War XV is done! While we are still awaiting the results — with much deserved patience courtesy of all the submissions the graders are poring through — that doesn’t mean we can’t acknowledge the great things you all did over the course of the war and leading up to it.
First, I want to acknowledge the work of Tali and Grot on the AEF reorganization. We touched on this in our May report, talking about all the conversation and tweaking done behind the scenes. The end result of this labor can be seen in the newly improved AAF 1st and 4th Legions. If you didn’t see it during the war, maybe used it in your Battle Plans, there it is in all its glory.
Next, many thanks to Wally for all of his administrative and organizing labors at the start of the war. Between his “the plot until now” synopsis presentation, the group events sign-up spreadsheet, and his general go-getter attitude throughout the whole war were a phenomenal help to both the Summit on an individual level and the Clan as a whole.
Now, because there were twenty four Shadesworn (that’s you Arconans) that got full bin participation (plus or minus a few, based on manual attributions), I won’t go name by name, but holy fracksticks on a Hutt’s ass, that’s awesome! To put that in context, Arcona has (at time of writing) fifty two (52) members; that means just under half of the Clan got at least one entry in every bin! That is phenomenal!
With that said, this is a great time to take a well-deserved breather, maybe pursue some other projects or light competitions; hell, step away from the computer for ten minutes and get some sun. Because we’ve got plenty in the works on the horizon for you to sink your teeth into.
The stuff below are either updates or clarifications to some of the items mentioned in our May report, or new additions for you to digest. Handle with care.
As some of you no doubt noticed during the war, many of Arcona’s wiki pages are out of date, and either require refinement or archiving. As mentioned in our last report, you need only e-mail me and Atty (CON & PCON) to get your name on the roster for updating Clan pages. If you have a specific one you’d like to tackle, include that in your e-mail. We also accept folks that are willing to scrub our many pages to see what fits best for editing/updating versus archiving.
With that said, we have a system established for how this will function. This is so that 1) we as a Summit can ensure consistent quality and completeness; and 2) so that each participant’s work is duly recognized. Surveyors (those who scrub our database) will have to annotate not only what is good, needs updating, or needs archiving, but also why. An editor will need to use Google Docs on Suggestion Mode so that the approving authority can see the old content and new content side by side and approve/deny/suggest accordingly.
Bear in mind that all this work can be attributable to both awards and promotions, so this isn’t just something we ask from you out of the goodness of your own Sithy hearts. There’s shiny stuff involved, so long as the final product is achieved.
Now that the War is over, we can dedicate some time to actually building this out. The end-goal is that we have a system to develop both skills and confidence in various competition types, while doing so in a competitive way that offers rewards for the participants through small, feedback-oriented mini-competitions.
Much like wiki work, we are looking for volunteers to help run the workshops. Subjects that we’re currently planning on covering include, but aren’t limited to, fiction, graphics/drawing, and battle plans. If you’re interested in this line of work, and/or you have an additional topic for covering, let us in the Summit know. Please include our Rollmaster, Zuza, in the TO line of the e-mail, as developing members is intrinsically part of the position.
Here you’ll find the majority of news, plans, and a dose of OOC fiction stuff.
While we’re still building out our Clan event calendar, with progress impeded somewhat by a WAHR, it’s not totally devoid of content, and we can reasonably provide at least a semblance of what the latter half of this year is building out to.
Other things we’re still parsing out are the start time(s) for the competition workshops, the Arcona Armed Forces (AAF) development competitions, and possibly rebooting the Selen Development Project in the process.
I said it in Discord, and I’ll say it here again: I’m so proud of all of you that rocked so much socks out there during the GJW. As a brand new Consul trying to figure out so much and going right into a War, there were definitely some nail-biting moments. Fortunately, I’ve got some awesome support in the form of Atty as PCON, Zuza as Rollmaster, and all the House and BT leaders keeping your shenanigans focused in the right direction. Because if we’re good at anything as a Clan, it’s shenanigans.
Sometime in the next month, I’m going to have a couple weeks where I’ll be completely incommunicado. During that time, Atty will keep the place from burning down and the mouse wheels turning. I would say more, but I simply don’t have those details. When I know more, you will too.
As always, I can be reached by e-mail at [Log in to view e-mail addresses], on Telegram with @QyreiaArronen, or on Discord @Qyreia#9352. You can find Atty at [Log in to view e-mail addresses], or @Atty#3546 on Discord. And if you’re bored, feel free to follow my meant-for-recruiting-but-still-fun in-character Twitter feed @TheRedQek!
