“B-but Grancha, I swear! We delivered the shipment on time!”
“Um gee luto kinjah u neechu gee!” The Hutt’s high pitched voice warbled with steady anger that rolled lazily over the large slug-tongue.
“And arriving with fewer goods than you left here with,” her lieutenant half-translated for the representatives from the Children, “means that you made a stop along the way to pad your pockets.”
The delegates from the Children of Mortis watched with quiet interest. Chutil’ah wasn’t an especially large Hutt, but even she dwarfed the errant smuggler that had failed to deliver the contracted goods. They could have meted out their own punishments, but this was better in the long run. They would get their weapons and recruits, the Hutt crime boss would save face, and the trade relationship would deepen through mutual reciprocity. If they were lucky, they might even get a discount on this particular shipment.
“Che moocha tuta je, wanga kapa.” A wave of the Hutt’s hand and the guards held him in place by the arms. He clearly understood Huttese, and began pleading as they slowly dragged him away. “Che mwa pateesa, dopa leta noleeya kayfoundo peet.”
Patark, a Dawnseeker emissary assigned to work with the Ghanta Black Syndicate, took a half step forward when the lieutenant, a Twi’lek by name of Lanan, approached. “And all that meant?”
“He will lose a hand for the thieving of my master’s goods,” he said only loud enough to be heard over the man’s screams before he was dragged away into another room, muffling the noise. “And two months of hard labor in the mines for the disrespect shown to our trade partners.”
Somewhere in the back of his mind, Patark vaguely knew she’d said ‘hungry pit’ rather than mines. He shuddered to think of what else might go on down there. “We appreciate Her Greatness’ concern.”
“Of course. Now, you are probably curious about the remaining delivery?”
The Mortisian was about to reply when, through the door, came a swift meaty, crunchy thunk. This was followed by even more screaming, louder even through the walls which seemed otherwise rather thick for sound to travel like that.
“That’ll be the hand,” Lanan said plainly. “Anyways, the delivery?”
Missed the fiction before this one? Here it is!
The Clan event is nigh! It’s been mentioned. It’s been heavy-handedly noted as coming #spoon to a theater near you. And now, starting this weekend and going into mid-November, we have The Great Slug Raid where, after taking punch after punch, Arcona is going on the offensive to make a subtle but clear statement to the Children of Mortis and the ancient Selenian Force users. More below for the less fictiony aspects of what you can expect for this event!
”But Q,” you might ask, ”where are the competition links?!”
Not there yet! We’re still narrowing down all the details for prompts, helpful images, and grading criteria nuances. There will be plenty to do, and a wide breadth of ways to #DoTheThing to ensure that we scratch as many of your itches as possible. We will drop various notifications once the competition is live to ensure you are all sufficiently told that it’s up for grabs.
That said: here’s that map Q mentioned in the opening fiction. Something to whet your appetites and prepare your plans, fictional or otherwise.
This event will run from roughly 16 October to 12 November. This will help give you all plenty of time to do any Spooktober themed competitions, catch a breather, then get into our cooperative event with Clan Odan-Urr in December. It’s a cram-packed schedule, with more on the horizon (yes, Kord has already mentioned Arcona Valentines Day).
Below are some details on the competitions that will be available to you during the event. The details are sparse to prevent too much advance work before the actual prompts drop. Because no one needs to do the same thing twice.
Here you’ll find the majority of news, plans, and a dose of OOC fiction stuff.
Got plenty to do through the rest of the calendar year. Thus far, only AVD is tentatively scheduled next year (in February as one might expect).
We are still working out the start time(s) and details for the competition workshops, the Arcona Armed Forces (AAF) development competitions, and the potential Selen Development Project.
