Battleteam Voidbreaker Report - July 2024

Introduction

It's been simultaneously a busy and a slow month around here. A lot of stuff has happened, but it also seems like a lot of people have taken a moment to chill. It's all good, and it's important that we all do what we can to avoid burnout. Remember, this club is here for us to have fun!

Fiction

The sleek, mirrored-finish black top of the desk reflected the mild lighting shining down from above. The management office overlooking the still-in-construction Dragon's Den cabaret club. As renovations proceeded on the space station of Hod Haran's Folly, Alex was determined that soon enough this work become a premier entertainment destination in Brotherhood space and as such felt the need to oversee a fair amount of the construction himself. One-way glass lined all three sides of the triangular office, allowing views out into the three main halls of the club. Construction droids were busily skittering about below - some still building the infrastructure of the third main hall, while the other two halls were having their furniture and fixtures installed already. Ice tinkled in his glass as an alert popped up on the holo screen projecting from his desk top. Raising an eyebrow at the message received, he swiped it away, having more focused concerns at the moment...

What Has Happened (News)

VB-Specific News

A couple more folks have joined our merry little crew since last report, so everyone please give a big welcome to Orv Dessrx and Lucine Vasano!

We had a Pool Party on the Voidbreaker II and a good time was had by all! Keep an eye out for more VB-specific events and activities coming out soon!

Brotherhood News

The Herald released a report with a lot of important info, not the least of which a change and establishment of rules regarding AI art in competitions. It is now blanket disallowed to use AI for any Crescent-awarding comps.
Some solid [updates] from the Magistrate to the Voice, impacting a lot of labels and aspects of our CS system and fiction background. Perhaps most notably, we have added Fosh, Lonto, Kyuzo, and Cragmoloids to the approved species list.
The ACC Singularity tournament is still ongoing, currently coming toward the close of the third round. Some exciting matches have shown, and we're just about to get to the actual bracket of 16!
Pokemon Unite has been added as a Supported Platform for DB Gaming, meaning more clusters for folks who want to jungle a Pikachu or something? I dunno, I don't play MOBAs.
For anyone looking to get more involved and possibly take on some leadership responsibilities, the following positions are open for application: Clan Scholae Palatinae Consul, Clan Odan-Urr Proconsul, House Marka Ragnos Quaestor, and our sister house Galeres is looking for an Aedile.

Promotions

No promotions this past month, but that's no big deal. There's a large XP gap to cross once we get to higher ranks, so they'll come soon enough!

Society Rankings

Mune maxed out the Collegium, hitting rank 12!
Your humble Captain (me) has continued his slow climb up the Inquisitorius, going from Rank 1 to 3 this past month.
Lontra over here kicking right at the gates of the Inquisitorius, advancing to Rank 11!
Marick has gone up to Rank 11 in the Shroud Syndicate! Stick figure your way to glory!
Orv also advanced in the Syndicate, achieving rank 5. I can't imagine it's going to be long until you're maxed out there either, honestly!

Awards

Little change in format here, going forward. While tracking the Clusters and Crescents are important, it makes the report 800 pages long. I'm going to focus more on Sacramentals, to try to keep you folks from having to slog through a novel every month. If anyone wants meto go back to listing Clusters and Crescents, let me know and I'll do it, but I think we all like a bit neater, tidier report.

Aiden

Aiden picked up a well-deserved Emerald Dagger! If you have not seen the work on the Clan Title accessories, you should take a look. They are gorgeous.
A Dark Side Scroll also found its way to Aiden's possession this month.
Some day, somebody will wrest the Blind Key from Aiden's grasp...but it was not this month!

Druzk

An Anteian Cross was awarded to Druzk! Way to go!

Mex

Mex picked up a Grand Cross this month. Keep climbing those awards!

Mune

Mune was awarded an Emerald Dagger fo their many activities and contributions! Heck yeah!

Please know, even though I don't list them, I do see all the Clusters, Crescents, and activity everyone is doing. I love it, y'all! Let's keep it up!

What Can I Do (Events and Competitions)

The Fist is running a competition for Squadrons right now, so go blow some ships up! Yeehaw!
A series of Micro-Fictions exploring emotions is running right now. Really interesting way to do some character growth and examination!
Our monthly Cluster Race and DIA Contracts are in full swing.
The Herald is running an interesting graphics comp about depicting our characters in a cartoon style of our choice.
Chill out, relax, take a breather and just vibe with some coloring pages

Not a specific activity or competition, but we in the House and Clan leadership are trying to do a better job of tracking contributions folks are making to things like the wiki, projects, and other non-specific contributions our members are making so we can more accurately provide non-site XP for awards. If you've done any of that sort of work recently and want to make sure it's credited, please just let us know either via e-mail or on Discord and we will be more than happy to add it to our notes!

Anything Else (Closing)

I've been having a great time being your BTL so far, and I'm excited for some things we've got coming down the pipe for the House and Clan!

On a more singularly personal note, as hinted at in the Fiction up top, I am putting together a location that can be used in fictions, RPs, etc. It's a luxury resort, casino, and entertainment-focused space station (separate from the space station HQD bought, which we're still figuring out what to do with)! But a space station is a big place, and if you've got some ideas about a business, entertainment venue, club, bar, hotel or anything else you may want to have aboard the Folly, reach out and let me know! I want this to be a place for the people to use, not just sit as a wiki page!
