What’s up team? After Wally released his Clan Arcona Update back on 12 December, I wanted to supply you all with another brief update to tide you over while he continues his romp through Jew-land. It’ll be lacking the salacious fiction that Wally typically includes, in an effort to keep our salaciousness in the Operation: Resurgence run-on. But it'll be full of important news and tidbits, and is well worth a read.
Let's get to it.
Turel, Celevon, and I have decided to extend battleteam leader applications DB-wide until Friday evening! This is exciting news. These BTL applications have a twist -- this time around, you're not only applying to be BTL, you're applying to create a whole new team. With Turel announcing the closure of Arete, Qel-Droma will be getting a new team, and you have the opportunity to both design and lead that team. But even if you don't feel like you have a dynamic idea for the team, you can apply to lead it anyways, as we are looking first and foremost for capable, up-and-coming leaders. This could be your shot at a big-league call-up.
More information about the requirements and expectations for the position can be found in the latest Qel-Droma report. Make sure to send your applications to Turel, Celevon, and I as soon as possible!
As mentioned above, we're currently running a Clan-wide run-on, Operation: Resurgence, over on the Discourse forums. It's been awesome so far -- we have 27 posts in about ten days, and 17 unique participants so far. Competition details are available at this link, though the most important bit is that the run-on will be up through 5 January, so get your posts in while you still can.
Deputy Grand Master Pravus just yesterday released an updated timeline of events for the upcoming GJW. It looks as though it will run from 9 January until 8 February and be split into two rounds, one from 9-23 January and the other from 26 January-8 February. Three events -- battleplan, multimedia, and run-on -- will run for the entire competition. The two rounds will feature a standard set of four events: fiction, graphics, gaming, and puzzle.
Be sure to refer to Pravus' report for more information, and to read the latest fiction updates that bring us closer to the war. Your Summit will keep you updated as we get closer to the war's start date.
If you missed last week's news, Celevon was chosen from a group of highly-qualified applicants as the newest Aedile of House Qel-Droma. He and Turel have gotten right to work on improving the House. Read more about their plans here. Ernordeth, a former Quaestor himself, stepped in to replace Adam Bolera as BTL of Apex, and gave us a lot to look forward to in his first report.
This is going to get its own section, because it's important and exciting information. As you all know, by winning the third phase of Fading Light, Arcona was awarded a Nebula-class Star Destroyer. You voted and chose Encanis as the newest ship's name; be sure to welcome the NSD Encanis by checking out its new wiki page. Thanks to all who suggested names, especially Achilleus and Seren, and thanks to all who voted.
Arcona also had 964.5 fleet points to spend, and we spent them as wisely as we could, convening a group of experts from inside and outside the Summit and fielding three full proposals. In the end, Wally and I selected four new fighter squadrons -- two squadrons of TIE Advanced fighters and two B-Wing squadrons -- and assigned them to the NSD Encanis, which was itself added to the AEF.
We also added a bunch of armor units (an area where we were lacking), as follows: 2x All Terain Anti-Aircraft (AT-AA) Walkers, 8x Canderous-class Assault Tanks, 3x Missile Attack Launchers, 15x 74-Z Speeders, 4x AV-7 Antivehicle Cannons. I am still in the process of incorporating our armor units into our ground forces on the wiki, but it's coming.
Speaking of the wiki, the Arconan Armed Forces page is up to date and should be your go-to page for fleet needs. Additionally, our Armed Forces Portal is pretty awesome and worth a look at. Arcona's military is something Wally and I take a lot of pride in, and we know that many of you are passionate about it as well. We try to simplify the presentation as much as possible, so that all of you are able to incorporate our military assets into your fictions and our run-ons.
Now, you may notice something about those pages -- they're missing a lot of NPCs. Around three dozen, by my count. That's where you come in. Meleu and I are currently running an NPC design competition, where we're taking almost all comers and making them part of Arcona's canon. This is your chance to make an NPC who will be around for a long time. Some of the NPCs that I designed back in 2009 have been moved all the way up to Commodore and are commanding elements of our fleet -- your creations could, too, someday. Check out the full competition details here. Additionally, Andrelious created a handy template that makes NPC creation easy.
Go make your mark on our military!
Man, you guys have been busy. In the interest of brevity, and because your House leaders have been so diligent in cataloguing your many successes, I just want to highlight a few major awards and promotions here.
A huge congratulations to Darkblade, who was promoted to DJK just today. He's the first DJK under Rollmaster Sight, and was mentored to this rank by Meleu. Darkblade is one hell of a success story, and a great example to all of Arcona's Journeymen.
Revs is "nex up" in Arcona, having earned his Jedi Hunter promotion on 11 December. He's been dynamic in both the ACB and Operation: Resurgence, and promises to be a force for a long time to come.
Nameless, formerly known as Vosh Kon, just rejoined us and has already earned his next promotion! Nameless is a graphics wizard and an innovator, and we're happy to have him back with us, and looking forward to what the future holds for him.
Rod has been an absolute phenom lately, and earned himself a promotion to Guardian on Friday. He's only been with us a short time, but he's already shown himself to be a member with a ton of potential.
I don't want this to slip beneath the radar, even though it was approved on 17 November -- Ernordeth is one of the most reliable, capable, and unfailingly positive leaders in the entire club, not just Arcona, and we are fortunate to have him leading Apex Brigade. This was a well-earned EQ2 promotion.
As well as a handful of merit awards, including a Grand Cross for Meleu, an Anteian Cross for Skar, and a Dark Cross for Rod. Keep up the great work, everyone!
The main competition everyone should be focusing on is the Operation: Resurgence run-on over on the forums, but there are a ton of great events running for all of your diverse interests right now. Additionally, the design-an-NPC competition should be a priority for those looking to influence Arcona’s military and canonical future!
Some others:
The Fist’s office is also running the standard monthly gaming competitions, as well as some fun mobile gaming options, and there are DB-wide fiction events ongoing through the end of the month. Most of Arcona’s battleteams also have their own competitions ongoing at this time.
I usually just take a small section in Wally's sprawling Arcona Reports to talk about ongoing projects, but since I'm running the show while he's on LoA in Israel -- and loving it more than he cares to admit -- I get to stand at the podium for a little longer today. I want to take that opportunity to once again encourage everyone who feels that they are qualified and have the time to lead a battleteam in Qel-Droma to apply to Turel, Celevon, and I.
Operation: Resurgence is also an awesome way to participate and practice for the upcoming war, and it’s fun, too. If you’re confused on the plot, or not sure how to proceed, your first stop should be your BTL -- they’ll have a strong handle on their own side-plots, and should be able to help you. If they can’t help you, work with your House leaders. The most critical element of the run-on is cooperation. We need to all be on the same page, working together to weave our diverse, intricate narratives into one coherent whole. Done successfully, the product is beautiful, but it requires effort. Work with each other, talk with each other, proofread one another, bounce ideas off each other. Let’s do this together.
You’ve all had a great month so far, and I’m sure you’ll keep it up through the holidays. We have a lot to be optimistic about right now. Keep poking your heads in on IRC and enjoying the community that we foster in #arcona, and keep buying into the culture that your leaders, from BTL to Consul, are trying to create and maintain. There’s war on the horizon, and when it comes, we’ll be ready. Wally will be back on the 31st, and we’ll start putting the gears of war in motion.
In the meantime, I want to wish you all a happy holiday, regardless of what holiday it is you’re celebrating. I know that the Herald’s office will be releasing goodies for Hanukkah, and there will probably be other fun things going on around here as well. For those of you traveling to see family, be safe -- with the family, that is, not so much the travel ;)
Much love,
Legz

Sexy report, Legz.
People, put in an application. We love applications. And ideas. But that goes without saying.
Lots of Jew-mas things and Jew-land. I've already done my travelling, so no worries there.
Avoid the eggnog. It tastes funny. ;)
