New HM, Shiney for Solari!

With Solari stepping down (and then slightly to the left) to become our new Recruitment Tribune, Dacien Victae di Plagia will be taking over as Headmaster.

As a going away and thank you to Solari for everything he did for the Shadow Academy, the staff got together under Ood and awarded Solari with the Master of Dark (Light?) Lore. You can view Ood’s touching newspost here.

AWOL CHECK

The Master at Arms has initiated a club-wide AWOL check. As per long and drawn out discussion over the past year with the Dark Summit, these checks are carried out by looking over each unit’s roster and identifying which members have not logged into the main site for over 30 days. Even if you are busy with work or traveling, checking in on the main page for reports and updates is part of being an active (or even passive) member of this community.

To avoid being moved to Rogues, all you need to do is log in to the website and drop us a line letting us know you are still alive and kicking! Anyone in danger of being AWOL'd will be given an automated notice explaining this very thing, and will get a full week from the time of receiving that e-mail to log in.

As I've mentioned in the past: moving to Rogues is not a bad thing. This is a volunteer club. We all put in what we can, but there are some of us that like to go above and beyond and take on the responsibilities of leadership and guidance. It helps these types of members to have active members working under and with them, so always keep that in mind. Arcona is your home, and if you suddenly decide that you want to get back into the action, all it takes is logging in and the press of a few buttons!

Fading Light: Part 2 - The ACC

The ACC is live!. I feel like I've worked on this project for over a year now. It's been a long road--lots of testing, refining, tweaking, debating and arguing and then some more debating and arguing. But it's here! Challenge away at will, play with the different options, and have fun :).

As we've been saying over and over again: if you haven't qualified for the ACC, now is the time to do it! Why do we keep saying this, you ask?

• Fading Light: ACC Tournament!

That's right. Sarin has announced the details for the upcoming Fading Light (Part 2/3) ACC Tournament. The Tournament will be bracket style, with the Top 3 finishes earning placement points for their respective units. What does this mean for you guys? Blood is in the water. Sign up, buckle those belts, double tie those boots and get ready to open a can of whoop-ass.

I've talked in the past about Arcona's pride with the ACC. As of this report, we have 16 signups! I know for a fact there are a few of you that haven't yet. And to you, I offer these sage words from the Prophet "Mackelmore":

New Forums

The forums have not been getting a lot of use outside of Run-Ons. It’s a trend we’ve noticed over the past few years with GMail's group and message-threads slowly making the conventional “e-bulletin board” seem outdated and clunky. Enter Discourse, the name for the new forums we will now be using. Useful features include the ability to use Markdown instead of BB code (So, no more [b] [/b] just to make things bold, you can accomplish the same task with a simple double-asterisk or underscore. You can also mention people (using an @ sign like in twitter) and the whole process just seems more streamlined. I’ve been fortunate to test and play around with it, and I think it really will be the breath of fresh air the forums need to become not just an add-on to our club, but another extension for communication.

So, I had a random brainstorm today when talking about the ACC, and realized we should have an official sports type drink for Arcona. So, to hold you over while I’m gone for a few days I give you two new original competitions, courtesy of Clan Arcona:

I'd also like to let everyone know that I will be taking a brief LOA starting tomorrow (May 6th) until Friday (May 9th). I am flying to Cleveland for a business trip (not a vacation, don't be silly), and my chromebook is very old/slow, so I don't anticipate being able to do much more than communicate via my phone, respond to emails and occasionally pop on IRC.
