Hello there fellow Plagueians. It is time for your regularly scheduled Proconsul Report looking back at the month that was September 2020. We had the results for August’s Probowl released and yours truly ran an event that is going to shape the direction of the development of Aliso as it pertains to allies new and old. Our Consul has also been busy, working with the writer of the famous betrayer Laren Uscot himself to piece together not one, not two, but three fictions in the run up to the next major clan event. We’ll also be highlighting competitions for the here and now as well as taking a dive into the news the rest of the club has come up with.
August was a time of fun and competition as Plagueis invited Clans Naga Sadow and Taldryan to join us for the latest instalment in the Pro Bowl. Way back in the early September period we received those results and they were mighty encouraging for Plagueis. Not only did TuQ take first place individually, but Furios came 3rd when it came to individual performers out of all the participants. But wait, I’m not done there, while TuQ and Furios were filling up the podium, the rest of Plagueis was hard at work competing to prove themselves too. Andrelious was the third-highest points earner in the clan, while the Dread Lord and I both came in the top 3 points scorers for our respective teams. In fact, we had 4 out of 9 top scorers. (top 3 on each of the three teams) However, September wouldn’t just be a month of results, which leads me on to my next topic
Yours truly ran something of an experiment this month in the form of an event called Expanding Horizons. It was a lighter schedule compared to the Pro Bowl, 5 comps a week for 2 weeks. That made sense given the fact we’d only just finished the Pro Bowl and also kept it pretty manageable as an event run on my own. But the main interesting thing about the event was that it gave every Plagueian an opportunity to express a preference for which of 4 different groups they’d like to see develop a presence on Aliso and be fleshed out more. This was possible for all 10 competitions, not just the two explicitly lore-focused competitions. Now, as the self-appointed Numbers Nerd of Events, I’m going to share what I found out about the event in terms of participation and vote breakdowns.
Just under a third of members of the Clan participated in at least one competition during the course of the event. Overall we received 67 entries broken down into 36 in week 1 and 31 in week 2. This isn’t much of a drop-off and is something I’m rather proud of.
Out of the 67 entries, 49 votes were cast, which is around a 70% turnout, which is rather impressive given it's the first time we're running with this system. Several competitions being timed may have affected this. Now we get to break down the votes themselves and it's rather interesting to look through. Both Ghaarm and Krullok, representing the Saraask'ar and Valneikian Hive respectively had exactly the same number of votes in total and the same breakdown, 4 in the first week and 3 in the second for a total of 7 votes each.
Unfortunately for them, there's quite a sizable gap between them and the next group/individual up in terms of votes received. Despite only being mentioned in the pre-event fiction, Rosa and her yet to be named group(I’m open to suggestions) gathered 7 votes in the first week alone. They were able to maintain this for week 2 for a total of 14 votes. That means Plagueis' Corporate stooges, Hyperdyne Industries, represented by Djeri Moraal received the most votes. The eagle-eyed among you will be able to see how many votes they got, the breakdown is 13 in week 1 and 8 in week 2 for 21 total votes.
The way I’m going to implementing the results of the voting in this event will be a proportional method, the higher vote earning groups get more new stuff, while the Saraask’ar and Valneikian Hive do still get something, just not as much. I have a list of entries and ideas that are going to implement as well as hoping to give each group representative their own Wiki page or having existing mentions of them be expanded. Because this is naturally a lot of work, I may be looking for volunteers to do some of the work.
These are just some of the competitions on offer, for a full list, see the competition page.
