Fiction

Ikarri sat across from the newly appointed Proconsul of Vizsla. The two men had spent the last few weeks sorting out the logistics of their new roles. The older mercenary still harbored a small sense of regret at being called back from the Expeditionary Forces to secure his position as Consul.

His arrangement with Declan and the Mandalorian elders ensured their continued service. Declan would serve as their public leader among the Mandalorians, working closely with Ikarri to expand their operations—both in contractual service to the Brotherhood and in seizing the opportunities offered by the Unknown Regions.

The two awaited the scheduled communication from the newly implemented Panoptes intelligence vessel. Right on cue, the surface of the table between them flickered to life, revealing the image of the ship’s Captain standing at attention, saluting the Mandalorian Grandmaster.

“What do you have to report, Alor'ad?” Declan asked, his words hung in the air for a moment as he returned the salute.

“We have prepared and are transferring numerous recordings to you now, Alor,” the feminine voice replied, before beginning to relay details of each encounter.

The holo recording flickered to life, revealing the image of a Sephi with sharp, angular features standing over the unconscious form of an unknown Mandalorian. The symbol on the Mandalorian's chest plate clearly marked him as a member of Clan Fero.

"He’s been following me for days," Rulvak began, his voice tinged with cold determination. "I arranged a fake meeting with a local contact I’ve been working with. This one took the bait and tailed me until I turned the tables on him. Fero burned down my contact’s business and had several others lying in wait for me… I’ll extract whatever information I can from him, then I'll get off this planet.”

Another recording began playing, this time of a human slumped clearly recovering from a recent fight. Haro Zylrun leaned forward as he spoke into the holo-recording “Our objective was a setup, there was never a buyer to be found and when we were spotted the Di’kut tried to start something by trying to jump my Brother.”

He leaned back holding his side as the injuries sustained were clearly still fresh. “We took out a few, then made a break for it when we had the chance. I don’t think we killed any but their buddies didn’t seem to care that we were taking it easy on them.”

“It’ll be a few days before we rendezvous. Haro out”

Mako Henymory briefly brushed his hair aside as he held the active recording device in his palm. The small civilian transport he’d hired provided him with private quarters, the confined space offering a sense of privacy and security. He had already swept the room for listening devices and knew the whereabouts of each member of the small transport crew.

“Two dead. They tried my patience and found its end.” The Sith glanced at his companion, Syl. The Lolth-cat purred contentedly in its sleep, curled up on the bed nearby.

“I left no evidence. Their thermal detonators ensured nothing remained of their bodies before I departed. I will be transferring through multiple transports to ensure I have no tails before returning to the Cabur.”

Captain Rhaena’s silhouette shimmered in the long-distance communique, the trim figure of the Mandalorian was polished, almost too clean despite what Ikarri knew of the intense heat and cramped confines of the Panoptes vessel. She stood at attention as she finished her report, providing details of the most recent accounts of their operatives beyond the outer-rim.

“The Admiral requests that I relay to you these reports, which are just a handful among the many we’re receiving. It seems as though that Fero’s ‘Mandalore’…” Rhaena stopped for a moment as if the word was poison. “...has begun spreading rumors that an aruetii now leads Vizsla.”

“Continue, Captain.” Declan Roark commanded his voice impassive.

Admiral Cortel listened intently as her subordinate relayed their findings to the Proconsul. She mentally compartmentalized each of the reports, their locations, the agents involved all while calculating Fero’s forces and response to each engagement. She had already surmised that Clan Fero was probing for a reaction, attempting to elicit a response that would lead to open conflict between the two sects. If Vizsla drew first blood, it would provide an opportunity to challenge their leadership directly or a declaration of war.

Arcia suspected that this ‘Mandalore’ sought any excuse in which he could openly target Vizsla operatives, something she was unwilling to accept with their current expedition into the Unknown Regions.

Quickly surmising her thoughts on a datapad, she formulated a message and sent it to the Captain. Arcia knew the Captain would relay her thoughts appropriately, she turned and walked away returning to the Operations Center.

“We’ll continue to monitor their actions. We’ve informed our agents to avoid open engagement with Fero until we secure our position here.” Rhaena gave a curt nod as she finished speaking, drawing her report to an end.

“Thank you, Captain. Send our regards to the Admiral and relay our continued faith in her judgment. We will begin preparing additional forces to provide you aid if needed.” Declan finished and returned the Captain’s salute before disconnecting.

Welcome

Been a wild few weeks starting a new job, setting up the Great Hunt and doing my part for the Probowl so I apologize for the delay in the report and specifically the fiction for our last Great Hunt. I do appreciate all of you who participated and look forward to seeing more of Clan Fero in the future. I want to shout out Korvis, Hector and Kanal for establishing the background and lore for this new faction as it has been reintroduced.

In regards to the results of The Great Hunt VIII: Iron Dogs congratulations on the following placements

Overall we had twelve participants, a little over a third of the Clan. Considering the event's rushed nature of the event I can’t complain about that. For future Great Hunts, I promise to have information out ahead of time to build up some hype.

Vizsla Direction

With the conclusion of the Great Hunt, I wanted to share more details about the direction I'm considering for the brewing conflict between Vizsla and Clan Fero. Additionally, I’ll be introducing the dynamic between Ikarri and the newly appointed, yet well-known, Proconsul.

With Arcia Cortel serving as the in-universe Admiral of the Expeditionary Forces, I also want to highlight the members who contributed and placed in this last Great Hunt.

Moving forward, I'd love to get feedback from the Clan on whether this storyline interests you. I plan to continue developing the concept and will provide more details in the following months.

Pro Bowl VIII

The Pro Bowl VIII goes live!

Schedule: The Pro Bowl will be running on a very similar schedule to years past, with our prologue week event starting August 26th. Then, we will have three single-week rounds following that with the entire event ending September 22nd. Full week-by-week breakdowns are as follows:

• Prologue: August 26th - September 1st
• Week One: September 2nd - September 8th
• Week Two: September 9th - September 15th
• Week Three: September 16th - September 22nd

In Closing:

A few months back, we approached Esca/Arcia about reviewing the Clan icon and trying his hand at redesigning the image. While not finalized we are looking for feedback on what everyone thinks of it. I love the redesign as it is a minimalist design while keeping to the concept of the original concept.
