Rolling into Town

Welcome to my first Rollmistress report! Many of you have already gotten to know me over the last month and I’ve heard rave reviews of the daily hugs. For my part, I’ve loved getting to know the Clan and learning about your characters. This is still very much ‘In Progress’ but I’ve had plenty to learn and do since then. To that point, the time has finally come to write a report that regals the chronicles of the last month and hits on some things to look forward to in the future. For subsequent reports , this will even include small fiction updates, but for now I’ll keep it simple. Onwards!

Competition Spotlight

There are a lot of competitions out there (and I encourage you to check them all out), but I’d like to put a spotlight on those organized by Odan-Urr itself. Take a look!

The Best Typist in the COU - FLASH Game by Edgar Drachen - Ends in 1 days! Simple flash game to see who can type the best. An easy one. No excuses to not do it. :)
I Am The Man Who Arranges The Blocks… by Ka Tarvitz - Ends in 2 days! A fun flash game sponsored by one of our own, Ka Tarvitz, that apparently reminds you of tetris. Give it a go!!
The Perfect Brawl by Ka Tarvitz - Ends in 4 days! Your task is to write the best melee possible to reflect your character’s skills. Show what they are capable of when everything perfectly falls into place and the sort of battle they can fight when they are at the top of their game.
[Hoth] - Proving Grounds Run On Part 2 by Hoth Summit Hoth runon lives on! Get your posts in!
Poster Puzzle Palooza Week 7 by Darro Zhen An easy puzzle competition. Give it a try!
[Hoth] The Scimitar of Lord Hoth by the Hoth Summit Activity based competition. Everything you do counts towards your total points!
Dessert "Spirit Animals" by RM Blade Ta’var Another simple graphics competition by yours truly that asks you to draw a dessert and name it after someone. The key is not to worry about your skills in drawing but to name a dessert after a fellow clan member. Just tell me what it is when you submit the picture and you’ll be fine. ^^
Shore Leave #2: The Beach!! by RM Blade Ta’var Another wonderful shore leave fiction where you tell a story about your character and their adventures on the beach with at least 3 other Odanites. Write your character having some fun.
An uneasy alliance by Lithar Andaris You are either on a mission assigned to you by your superiors or taking up a personal mission of your choice. However, things do not go as planned and you meet your archenemy. You hate each other very much, but the circumstances force you to cooperate, in order to save your lives, as only working together gives you any chance to survive.
[Herald Tournament] The Shroud War by Mako Henymory, C’ree, and Morgan Sorenn Big Graphics competition. I encourage everyone to sign up regardless of skill. Participation gives yourself credits and the Clan credits. Also, you might just have a lot of fun. ^^

Master-Student Program

Odan-Urr offers all its new and returning members membership in the Master-Student program. If you are interested, I will pair you with a more experienced member of the Clan to help guide you on your path to Knight and beyond. This is not only a great way to get to know the clan, but it offers a wealth of fictional opportunities. I encourage our younger members to request a master, and I encourage our more senior members to think about signing up to be a Master. This is just another way to give back to the Clan and help a new person along. If you’d like to sign up, simply send me a message on Telegram or give me an email!

Currently Active

Jedi Academy Training: A pretty simple project. I want to build up our Jedi Academy skills. No minimum skill required. I will teach you if you are completely new to the game, and I will teach you if you have already played for a while. The only request I have is that you have fun and put some effort into trying to improve yourself. I can do the rest. Currently I do this adhoc, so reach out to me if you want to take advantage of this opportunity.
- FUTURE Plans: Group training sessions.
Getting to know everyone’s Character!: This started out as something I wanted to do to understand everyone’s character, but it has turned into a useful tool for everyone. How does this work? I post a question that makes you think about your character in the Clan chat and pin it for easy access so it stays at the top of the window. Everyone answers the questions, some of which require knowledge of other characters, and I record them in a spreadsheet for everyone to view. This helps everyone out. Check out the current answers so far here. I aim to update this every 3-4 days.
- FUTURE Plans: More questions for now, but eventually you’ll need to use this for some team competitions I have in mind. Why? I want to get everyone more comfortable writing each other’s characters and working together. TEAMWORK.

Upcoming

New Jedi Praexum Development: We have moved to a new planet and thus need a new Praexum. There are already ideas out there and I look forward to looking them over. Moreover, for those interested in helping I welcome the assistance and infusion of new ideas. This would also count as a project for those that need more of that, such as our Knights and Equites. Look forward to an update on this on my next report.
Zirael: This is semi-dependent on the New Jedi Praexum Development, but there a few things I will be working on till that bears fruit. It is mostly tying up loose ends, making things easier for its members, and doing a bit more digging into its past development. You never know what gems you can find in your past. :) Stay tuned for an update on my next report.

We do so much more than just the numbers that are tracked on the website. We are a community and I’d like to take this time to show off some awesome things we’ve done as a Clan that don’t quite fit anywhere else. Knights and Equites

Your journey doesn’t end at Knight, so therefore neither does my assistance. First and foremost, I want all Knights and above to know that if you have a question or if you need anything, then feel free to reach out to me. I am here to help. Second, from time to time I do have projects that I am working on (such as the New Jedi Praexum), which will help you either reach Equite or advance further in the Equite ranks. So keep that in mind.

Secondly, I’ll be using this section to pass on advice. This month I’d like to address the following question: “I’m finally a Knight. What now?”. Well, now you get full independence in your activities. Remember those checklists? Gone. You can focus 100% on what you want to do. Take advantage of it and don’t stop participating in competitions, particularly in ones you like. Remain active. Now, with this new found freedom comes the eventual expectation that you will give back to the community and help out. This can take the form of projects (Battleteam, House, Clan), Leadership positions, and mentoring a student as their ‘Master’ in the Master-Student program. Think about getting involved in these sorts of things and keep doing what makes you happy in this club. Knight is just the beginning!!! (But Blade, you didn’t specifically mention Equites. Don’t worry this advice applies to Knights and Equites alike).

This last month was quite the learning experience for me. Primarily, I got to learn more about the Clan and more importantly all of you. I think the last month went fairly well. We had a number of new joins, a fair amount of promotions, and a few projects were already kicked off as well as some competitions by yours truly. Looking forward, I’d like everyone to learn more about each other’s characters, and I encourage everyone to share their art and fiction in the Clan chat. It helps pull everyone together and celebrates the Odan-Urr family. ^^
