For the Glory of Odan-Urr and Shinies!

Welcome to another Rollmistress report! Another month is gone but with it comes a lot of exciting stuff. First, we are in the third and last stage of our big cooperative event with Clan Talydran titled ‘Desperate Measures’. For the Glory of Odan-Urr! I’ll be breaking this down a bit more below in the competitions section, but for now I'll just say to not neglect the team events. Get something in so you are in the race! Second, the Great Jedi War is coming this summer. I don't have any information to share with you now, but keep in mind that his Clan Event is practice for it. Don't let this opportunity go along with the shinies that come with it! Lastly, I’ll cover the ongoing projects and the usual colorful additions that make my reports so appealing to look at while you read them.

Competition Spotlight

There are a lot of competitions out there (and I encourage you to check them all out), but I’d like to put a spotlight on those organized by Odan-Urr itself and more prominently the Desperate Measures competitions, which ends in 5 days. • Concerns in gaming lately have been raised to the Grand Master himself. Let’s all play by the rules. If it feels like it is cheating, it probably is. For those that want a refresher on the rules, check it out here.

Master-Student Program

Odan-Urr offers all its new and returning members membership in the Master-Student program. If you are interested, I will pair you with a more experienced member of the Clan to help guide you on your path to Knight and beyond. This is not only a great way to get to know the clan, but it offers a wealth of fictional opportunities. I encourage our younger members to request a master, and I encourage our more senior members to think about signing up to be a Master. This is just another way to give back to the Clan and help a new person along. If you’d like to sign up, simply send me a message on Telegram or give me an email!

Currently Active

• New Jedi Praxeum Development: This has been put on hold until the Clan Event is over. I will provide everyone an update next report. Stay tuned for the next best place to send all the force sensitive kids. Because as we all know, we need to train them to save the galaxy and contemplate on the Force. :D I like to imagine the future students as bundles of energy trying to eat all the food.

• Jedi Academy Training: Some new students and a few more lessons happened this last month, which made me very happy. So far I’ve got some very positive results and my students have had a lot of fun. Give it try! The only request I have is that you have fun and put some effort into trying to improve yourself. I can do the rest. Currently I do this adhoc, so reach out to me if you want to take advantage of this opportunity.

  • FUTURE Plans: Group training sessions.

• Getting to know everyone’s Character!: This started out as something I wanted to do to understand everyone’s character, but it has turned into a useful tool for everyone. How does this work? I post a question that makes you think about your character in the Clan chat and pin it for easy access so it stays at the top of the window. Everyone answers the questions, some of which require knowledge of other characters, and I record them in a spreadsheet for everyone to view. This helps everyone out. Check out the current answers so far here.

  • FUTURE Plans: More questions for now, but eventually you’ll need to use this for some team competitions I have in mind. Why? I want to get everyone more comfortable writing each other’s characters and working together. TEAMWORK.

Upcoming

• Zirael: This is dependent on the New Jedi Praexum Development. This has been put on the backburner until the Jedi Praxeum finishes up as much of that project will inform this one. Until then, this will be continued to be maintained as usual. Be patient on this one.

Knights and Equites

Your journey doesn’t end at Knight, so therefore neither does my assistance. First and foremost, I want all Knights and above to know that if you have a question or if you need anything, then feel free to reach out to me. I am here to help. Second, from time to time there are projects to work on, which will help you either reach Equite or advance further in the Equite ranks. So keep that in mind.

Alright, May’s advice. This month I’d like to address the following question: “if someone isn't in an official leadership position, do you have any advice for them to get leadership experience and become hokage?”.

Our wonder PCON, Alethia Archenksova provided a wonderful answer:

Contribute to the community. Like, it's great if you pound out 10k words of solo fiction every week and win all the crescents, but if you're not interacting with the rest of the clan you're basically just a number in a spreadsheet. If you game, game with Odanites. If you write, help others develop their characters and work them into your fiction. If you draw, draw flowers on everyone's chat avatar. Make friends. I have a short attention span. I wouldn't still be here if I were just grinding out comp submissions. I'm here because I have friends here. I still play Alethia because people like Vyr and Cable and Blade keep giving me interesting places to take the character. We're constantly fighting the attrition of real life. If you want new joins and current members to stick around, help build a family around them.

I agree wholeheartedly and will say, listen to our wise Pecan (PCON). Help others and make some friends. You will have fun and find that you yourself will grow along the way. ^^

Conclusion

Another great month for Odan-Urr. Seems like each report I am listing off a ream of awards and this pleases me immensely. Keep at it and do what you do best. What is that? Have fun and show how great Odan-Urr is of course. :D Before I end this colorful report, remember to finish strong in the Clan Event, Desperate Measures, that is currently take place. Get something in for the group events. They are worth a lot of points and might as well put yourself in for the running. Lastly, stay on top of the character questions and don’t be afraid to share random art and fictions. Sharing with friends is fun. Have fun everyone! ^^
