Hi all! Welcome to the June 2019 edition of the CSP Consul report. War is coming! Read major updates on DB wide events and fiction, the closing of a clan-wide run-on, Dark Paladin announcement, and an excellent question from Rosh.
A new Great Jedi War will start on July the 20th! For those who haven't been in one before, the GJW is the highest level of competition the club has to offer and the greatest chance to show off your skills as a member. We have three weeks before the start of this event. In this time I'd recommend getting your character sheets sorted, your wiki pages updated, get any NPCs in your head approved so you're all set up and ready to go when the war starts.
The DB wide fiction arc is ramping up in preparation for this event, and we're introduced to the Severian Principate in more detail in https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/news/djb-news-brotherhood-rising-chapter-2-shifting-gears
###Creatures
In case you missed it, creatures are now a thing in the club! https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/news/reports-wiki-tribune-report-the-creatures-the-credits-the-glory Buy one for your character in time for the war!
We recently conducted a clan-wide run-on to capture the Meraxis capital ship, the Imperial Class Star Destroyer Retribution. A number of excellent performances from everyone involved made this run-on a pleasure to read, and the final result can be found here https://discourse.darkjedibrotherhood.com/t/csp-run-on-do-or-die/2175/18
Jorm has closed off the run-on with the implications and Meraxis reaction to us capturing their pride and joy. The fiction has been added to the end of the run-on thread, link above.
Following the successful hijacking of the Retribution, it is now the focal point of the clan military force! Consolidating the fleet behind one big warship also makes the fleet a lot easier to manage and visualise. For me at least, it's now a lot easier to imagine our strong our military force is, which stands at 1 ISD, 4 Vindicator-class Heavy Cruisers, 4 Raider II-class Corvettes, 3 Quasar Fire-class Cruiser Carriers, and a load of little things. The navy page with updated ships can be found here https://wiki.darkjedibrotherhood.com/view/Imperial_Scholae_Navy
It's been a while since we announced a Dark Paladin. It's my pleasure to announce Kadrol Hauen as the latest recipient of the title. Kadrol has always been a standout member in terms of activity and willingness to help around the clan. Congratulations Kadrol!
We have three current clan-wide competitions ending on the 14th of July. None of them have any entries in them yet! Potentially easy crescents. One fiction, one art, one easy comp.
Current clan monthly topic has you writing a story including one item from the new Iron Menagerie! This does not have to be your own creature, the story just has to include one. For instance, I could write Eli being attacked by a Meraxis Krayt Dragon or something if I entered. https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14952
There has been a lot of restructuring of the clan fleet lately. The new-look navy needs a picture. Using any medium of your choice, create a picture of the Imperial Scholae Navy. https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/15000
Easy one this. We have a lot of unnamed ships. They need names before the GJW! https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14998
Aylin asks: #AskTheEli How does Eli survive the tropical temperatures? Eli: Pimm's. It's Pimm's o'clock.
Xantros asks: #AskTheEli Could you please pass a bill to ban the inhumanely high temperatures? Eli: The inhumanely high temperatures are a fantastic excuse to drink copious amounts of fruity cider and / or gin. It's always Pimm's o'clock these days.
Arch asks: #AskTheEli Why did daddy Xen leave us? Eli: I can totally understand the allure of a new clan with a blank slate to work with fictionally
Korras asks: #asktheeli mead. Regular, or flavored? Eli: Love flavoured mead! But when trying a new brand I'll always go regular so I have the most fair comparison.
Rosh asks: What would you recommend to old returning members to do to catch up with the lore of the clan after the destruction of the old planets and the colonization of the new ones? And how would you explain their long character absence accordingly?
Eli: wow this is a great question. I would say 'go to the wiki' but it's hard to find a good place to start. Luckily we have a map dictating our borders. The political map of Ragnath has been the best way to keep up to date with the colonisation for most part of my CONship, and can be found here https://wiki.darkjedibrotherhood.com/view/File:RagnathPolitical.png We were enemies with red, blue were helping us, we kicked red off the moon, blue took a bit from red that we wanted, causing tension. That doesn't paint the full picture though, since the last few things have happened in space and not on the ground. Collective (main DB enemies) funded Meraxis' new flagship, the ISD Retribution. We took it from them but lost some of our big guns in the process. Their navy is in tatters now, setting up a planetary assault (once that little GJW is out the way)
As for explaining absence... there are a few options: off on some secret mission, off training somewhere, or even that you never left and have been here the whole time. But this sort of thing can be a good justification for change (Impetus becoming Elincia happened during an absence). I would suggest thinking of a character transformation that would make a good story, and build the narrative around that. DB fiction doesn't have to precisely match what happened out of character. I've retconned out a year I spent in another clan entirely because it didn't fit with the character arc.

nice report. Glad to see my former apprentice, Kadrol, has earned a title.
