Hi all! Welcome to the March edition of CSP's Consul Report. This report contains clan and db news, a major fictional update for the clan event, Into the Fire, results from phase 1, competitions for phase 2, updates to clan lore.
Firstly I'd like to announce two new hires for CSP. Filling the Aedile role of House Excidium is Braecen Kaeth! Braecen needs no introduction, a previous CON of the clan that's served in almost every other position available. And for Imperium, the new Aedile is Ric 'Tater' Hunter! Ric is a name that will be familiar to veteran members of CSP, a previous QUA of many years ago and someone that we're very happy to have back in the clan with us. I look forward to seeing what fresh new ideas the Aediles bring to their roles.
Also, I'd like to welcome Jax Bendal (Marcus) to CSP, and congratulate Korras (Darth Aeternus) on his Amethyst Kukri. Please join me in congratulating Brae and Ric on their new roles, Korras on his new stabby thing, and welcome Marcus to the clan!
Heads up for the DB's second art tournament, courtesy of the Herald Office, coming soon: https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/news/reports-herald-report-6-shroud-war-ii#shroud-war-ii
Not long to show your support for Apex Legends to be supported for official DB support: https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14721
The updated fiction for the clan event can be found here! This fiction contains efforts from a lot of writers, Part 1 as written by Mune remains the same. Part 2 really ramps up the Meraxis attack on the clan with some notable actual impact on our navy and is a collaborative effort containing writing from me, Jorm, Reiden, and Ric. Also, this phase introduces 2 new NPCs, more info on below, which will become recurring characters over time in both clan and db fiction. The document can be found at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fMQ864Wy-lSNT2IMjxmjBsF1Omf2KXrq .
Some great entries all around on Phase 1, good fictions, good graphics, and nice participation on the puzzle.
I really enjoyed reading all of the fiction competitions, every entry was well written and entertaining to read. Reiden's fiction takes the first place with an epic defence of the Clan Scholae Palatinae. Extracts of Reiden and Ric's fic can be found in the event fiction.
There were some good entries to graphics too, with the prompt of depicting the destruction of Adoniram Tower, with Kadrol taking the prize on this one for a good drawing of the tower and flames erupting from the walls.
Phase 2 and event long events can be found in the container competition at https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14630. In addition to the ongoing long fiction, cluster race and run-on, we also have the following:
Phase 2 Fiction https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14630 has you defending an attack on the clan flagship, The Sidious, from Meraxis starfighters and Collective Commandos. Use whatever you can to protect the clan's most expensive military asset until The Second Flotilla arraives. As this prompt involves the CSP Navy, this might be helpful as a resource: https://wiki.darkjedibrotherhood.com/view/Imperial_Scholae_Navy
Phase 2 Graphics https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14758 is derpingly not in the container because Derp Eli is Derp and has a choice of two prompts involving the fictional update: https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14758
Puzzle https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14755 and Flash game https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/competitions/14757 should require little explanation
As always let me know if you have any questions about anything relating to this event: competitions, fictional background, etc.
I'm going to start adding this section to every report. MINOR SPOILERS FOR CLAN FICTION AHEAD. The clan lives on Ragnath, Seraph's moon, in the Caperion System. Caperion was designed to be a realistic planet, with Ragnath and Seraph being the main two planets fit for life. The Caperion System already had a spacefaring technology level when we arrived, and 5 factions each with differing cultures and political organisations, the most powerful being a democratic republic (Elaya) and an Empire trying to take over the system (Meraxis). When we arrived in the system Meraxis saw our Empire as a threat and Elaya were convinced that we are the lesser of two evils. With their help we took control of Meraxis' main city on Ragnath, the jewel of their Empire, Caelestis City. So they really don't like us and they sought assistance from The Collective, because neither of them like us. Relationship with Elaya is shaky after they took some ground that we wanted. The Ragnath page also has a map which shows the most up to date territory.
To break the monotony of the 'go here take this land for CSP' this event paints Meraxis as a more serious opposition, one which actually fights back and gets stuff done. Part 1 of the Into the Fire system had a Meraxis suicide bomber blow up the upper floors of Adoniram Tower, which we stole from them and used as clan HQ, to try to kill the clan summit. Part 2 had them conduct terrorist attacks across the city before the real attack came: an Imperial Class Star Destroyer under Meraxis control obliterated half of the sub-unit flotillas. As battleteams were closed recently to provide better balance to the clan, this was a good opportunity to shave money off the fleet cost for future plans and also worked as a nice plot device. A month or so ago I started a discussion in the clan chat about whether to merge the clan flotillas 1 and 2 into a unified clan navy. There were mixed opinions, some good points both ways, but I'm wanting to see how this goes, and having the whole navy come together to fight off this existential threat seemed like a decent opportunity for fiction prompts. Also, I can't recall a single time in which both flotillas separate were actually necessary for anyone to write anything, and a central pool of ships available might make things easier.
After the clan event I'm going to go back to a more regular schedule of every month, always having one fiction comp aimed at character development and one mission type 'get this thing done' prompt. Also, I'm going to start a clan-wide run-on after this event. These always tend to go one way or the other: either they're a complete mess but good fun, or they never really get off the ground. Regardless, I'm keen to give this a try.
Recently a few new NPCs were created for CSP. The objective of these NPCs was to link together fiction at the clan level and the db level by having NPCs with a loyalty to the clan and the factions that make up the DC. The objective is that this bridges that giant disconnect where stuff going on in the db fiction feels disconnected from the clan stuff. These NPCs are owned by the clan, and free for anyone to use at any time, but also will likely feature some time in db fictions.
Two of them are finished now, Qaanlag Vlux by Xen, a hologame addict working for the ACE to manage the purchases of CSP, and Xiaying, by me, a martial artists master from Caperion's Nayama Dynasty hired by CSP as a guard to the summit, and also a combat instructor for the ACC. The character sheets for these characters can be found here: https://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/units/scholae-palatinae/non_player_characters and I'm hoping to get a couple more on in the near future :) Note: CS links should work soon.
Cleaning the wiki isn't really a project as much as cleaning the house is a project. There's ALWAYS stuff that can be fixed, improved, made more consistent, set on fire, etc. If interested, shoot me or Calindra a message as there's a lot that could do with being cleared up.
Shadow asks: #AskTheEli What is Elincia's greatest pet peeve, and what is the punishment for said pet peeve if done by someone? Eli: Flat Ragnathers. Those who refuse to believe that Ragnath is round and spread the Flat Ragnath conspiracy theories despite all evidence to the contrary. The punishment is education. They are thrown out of an airlock in orbit over Ragnath so they can spend the rest of their lives learning about how they were wrong
Korras asks: #asktheeli how was the reception on your PANTS? :P Eli: My PANTS will be one of the most highly viewed studies in gastroenterology this year. More information on PANTS can be found in the recent PANTS publication in Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/langas/article/PIIS2468-1253(19)30012-3/fulltext
Jorm asks: Are you hearing the NyanJaws tune? ARE YOU HEARING IT!? Eli: Nyan nyan shark do do do do do do, Nyan nyan shark do do do do do do, Nyan nyan shark do do do do do do, Nyan nyan shark!
