Introduction
Hello everyone. As Yacks has mentioned in his email and as Rian mentioned in his final report, I have been selected to take over as Quaestor with Halc's promotion to PCON. I'm quite excited for this role - this will be the first time I've been in this position, so we're into uncharted territory. I'm eager to get going on plans for us, and one of the first things is to find a right-hand man (or woman) to fill the Aedile spot.
Aedile Position
OK, here's the meat and potatoes of this report. I will be accepting applications for the position of Aedile until Sunday, March 8, at 12:00 hrs MST. Email me with details on the following:
- Your experience in leadership roles, be it DJB, EH, other gaming clans, and real life (if you want to share that).
- What your goals are in the position. I don't want the 30/60/90 thing, but I do want some sort of concrete plans about what you want to push on the unwitting minions - er, I mean our loyal members - with some sort of reasoning behind it. I don't want to just hear, "I'm going to run 10 competitions." I'd like to know why you think that those 10 competitions have value to the members' enjoyment as well as the improvement of the House and Clan.
- Why you want the position. I know that's kind of a wishy-washy question, but I'd like to understand a bit of your motivation for taking the spot.
- Issues you see in the House that we need to address going forward.
Beyond that, the expectations of the Aedile are reasonably simple: lead by example, write regular reports (alternating with my reports generally, though it's flexible for RL schedules), provide mentorship to any of the members in the Clan, assist with award/promotion reqs, and help really script/plan/guide the House forward. We finally have a lull in the vendettas where we can expand the fictional history and backstory of the House and Clan, so I want us to really dig into that and work on developing ourselves in that direction.
I want to put these ahead of the news, because I don't want to lose people before they get to this section!
Fiction
- Eulogy for Tarax. This is a one-sentence run-on to mourn Tarax' untimely death. It runs until March 14 on the Discuss forums. Check it out and laugh - it takes next-to-no effort to contribute, so get it done!
- The War Is Over!. This is a chance to start working out some character stories for yourself. 500 words minimum describing how you've handled the end of our season of war. It gets you CIs and, for the newer members, can count toward one of your promotional checkboxes if you manage to get over 1000 (or 2000) words. This runs until March 14 too.
- It was my first day.... Similar rules as The War Is Over! The plot is the main difference - describe your first day in the Brotherhood. It runs until March 20.
Multi-Player/Group Gaming
- Taldryan Gatekeeper Trials: April 2015. This runs all month and awards the best Tier 1 PvP gamer for the clan with the title of Gatekeeper. Get onto #taldryan and get fighting!
- Gorefest is running twice this month and twice next month. The next one is the weekend of March 13-15
- Star Wars Online CCG. This is interesting - someone has created a free-to-play version of the SW CCG. This is a feeler competition to see if there's enough interest to bring this in as a possible future platform. It runs until March 18 and both Kordath and Delak are more than happy to help teach you if you're interested.
- TOR Blood Hunt Speed Run. This runs until March 31 and has to do with clearing the Flashpoint as fast as possible.
- Diablo 3: Season 2 Greater Rift Ladders. There are two of these, one for seasonal and one for non-seasonal. These run until the end of August, so get going!
Single-Player/Mobile Gaming
- Speed Sporcle Challenge #8. My bi-weekly mini-puzzle competition. My advice is to make sure you have a way to get screenshots fast and keep the submission page open so you can minimize your time to submit. Yacks lost out on a tie-break this past event because the other guy got his onto the site faster. This ends March 15.
- TIE Fighter SP Challenge. A fun blast from the past with some serious rewards. You have until March 20 to fly the classic campaign for TIE and get the highest rank possible using the Medium difficult. You earn 10 CFs for each rank earned, so a potential 50 CFs and the possiblity of Crescents too. I don't think I need to remind you, but I will anyways - the rules say Medium without invul or unlim ammo. There's no real way to enforce that, but it is expected in Taldryan that we will compete honourably and respectfully. I do not want to see any allegations of rule-breaker here for some shinies. Play the game and enjoy yourself. Oh, make sure you get a screenshot of your pilot before you start (when you're at 0 score).
- Mobile Gaming: Zig Zag. Nice quick little mobile game for CFs and crescents. Due by March 31.
Misc
- Revenge of the Meme. Create or share the funniest Star Wars meme you can. You have until March 31.
- Droidtacular. Use any sort of graphical means to describe your personal droid. Due April 1.
News
OK, now that that's over with, a rundown of the news.
House
- Halc is gone! I'm in charge now. Tremble in fear. Or vibrate in estasy. Your choice.
- Aedile spot is open. Duh.
- The battleteams are being re-worked. The Old Folks Home teams are being reintegrated back into the Clan's roster and won't be accounted for in the Houses' numbers any longer. The Wardens is also being updated to reflect its original goal of training up younger members. Any members above the rank of DJK will have the option of going to the general House roster rather than staying in the BT.
Clan
- Rian stepped down - make sure to send him your thanks for all his work!
- Yacks is Consul, Halc is Proconsul. Oh dear. We're doomed! Just kidding - it's gonna rock.
Brotherhood
- Jac has been confirmed as the Justicar. He was an instrumental part in the creation of the Dark Covenant and he's going to be a major part in the modernization and updating of it.
- James was awarded a Silver Sash and a Darth title in celebration of the newly proclaimed Day of the Jac. Congrats to our code monkey!
- Massive report from Mav about everything Voice-related. For those of you interested, he has opened up the postings for Combat Master and Wiki Tribune. He's also added a bunch of info on upcoming projects that are worth getting excited about.
- An exciting report from Val as well, covering the return of DB Gaming Nights (with PoBs up for grabs), the eventual reintroduction of a bot for match reporting, changes to TOR and D3 CFs, possible introduction of PoBs for Star Conflict, and a bunch of extra Gorefests.
Final Words
Well, I told Yacks I'd make a shorter report, but I don't think I succeeded when you factor in the stuff about the Aedile position. Either way, it's important to get a lot of this out here, though I will be working with the Summit members above and below me in the chain to try to streamline my reports more and avoid duplication of items.
And yes, I realize I misspelled Quaestor in my header graphic. I will fix that. Just shows you how new this title is to me!
SW Kenath Zoron/Ektrosis of Taldryan
Quaestor
Yay Zoron! Now, don't screw up :P
I hope the whip has flails.
Minions don't get to request their flagellation devices. You will take it and enjoy it.
bright side is when using the high contrast style on the site? I can't read your header anyways!
Yacks can't read
Voice report from Mav? MAV?! Zoron is now dead to me! :P
Ha! This means I'm the only Aiden that matters now :P
Mav, Shad... What's the difference? Close enough I think.
