Hello DB. After 90 days in the desert, i’m back home in the rainy PNW. Only here a short while and then making the big move to Hawaii. But, the DB goes on, and so must I.
Only a few short things to go over this month. I have some planned updates to current platforms to discuss, job openings, and some humble bragging on my awesome staff.
So, now that i’m all showered and finally eating food that doesn’t have a ten year shelf life, let’s do this!
This is coming. The 1v1 bracket from last year and the current BGL event have shown that there is definitely a spot for HotS in our traditional PvP category. The staff and I are still working out the details on how to make this work, specifically the rules and reporting requirements. Once I have something solid, I’ll submit a proposal to Mav and Vyr for approval. I expect this to be implemented sometime in June, after I get my computer back and am settled in the new house. I am interested to hear your thoughts, so feel free to comment below on what you’d like to see!
The Warmind DLC is almost here. Destiny 2 has been neglected (both by the community and me) and hasn’t seen an activity update since launch. I’d like to have the chance to update the available activities, but I won’t do that unless people are actively playing. My hope is that the new DLC and recent updates to the game will entice people to come back. If so, I will absolutely work to add more available activity to this platform.
[May the 4th Be With You] Gaming All Star Wars games earn double clusters! All members on a submission must submit to this competition to qualify. ONLY Star Wars games will earn double clusters. Do not try to submit something that is not Star Wars to this event, or your submission will be disqualified.
[FIST] 2018 Monthly Gaming Challenge - May
Brotherhood Gaming League: Season 1
In Fist Report #17, I mentioned that I would be rotating some of my staff out in order to give others the opportunity to serve on a DC-level staff. The current staff is one of the best I have had in my tenure as Fist, and while it is difficult for me to let them go, it is also necessary to ensure that new ideas are brought into the office from time to time. Therefore, effective immediately I am taking applications for Praetor and two Magistrates.
Edgar, Donny, and Juna have all done exceptional work on the staff. All three earned their first Sacramental Award for their work. If you want to know what I will expect of the members that take on these jobs, I strongly suggest you read each of their Sapphire Blade recommendations. That should give you a very small idea of what I will expect of the new team.
All three positions will transition on 1 June, so there is nearly a month for you to refine and submit an application. Here is what I am looking for in each position:
My Praetor is my right hand man/woman and will be expected to help me run the office with all day-to-day administration. This position is open to all members of the DJB, rank immaterial. Members with prior service on the Fist staff will be free to submit an application, including all current staff members. P:FIST will be a one year (max) gig. The person selected for Praetor will be in charge of managing the magistrates, specifically on DJB-Wide gaming competition creation, and processing of gaming submissions. Additionally, I will expect the praetor to write a monthly report discussing game updates, sales, and other general gaming knowledge. Edgar, the current Praetor has done some outstanding work over the past year. The person who takes over will have some big shoes to fill.
The responsibilities of the P:Fist include, but are not limited to:
My magistrates are responsible for reviewing and approving gaming submissions, setting up and running monthly gaming and mobile gaming events, and assisting with revisions to the wiki. These are six month positions. I have three magistrates, with two transitioning now. Magistrates do the day to day work in the office. They process gaming submissions in less than 24 hours, run DB-Wide gaming competitions, and review and edit wiki pages where needed.
What I’m looking for in applicants:
I hope that all of you take a chance to apply for one of these positions. This is a great opportunity to work on a DC staff and learn how it functions. I promise, you will find a tour on the staff a rewarding one.
Please send all applications to me at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] no later than 30 May 2018. Applications received after the 30th will not be considered.
FYI: I am fully aware that i am behind the times on these. I will process all Weekly/Saturday PoBs soon and will update this post once I have had a chance to do so. Rest assured, those who earned a pendant will receive it. It might just not be until June when I have my computer back.
All current Gaming and Fist Policies can be found on the Gaming Information page. I suggest that all members read this page as it has some great info. I will make sure this page stays updated to reflect all current office policies. I do not want to confuse anyone, especially with what is and is not allowed in the DB Gaming Telegram room.
Other items of note:
Gifs, stickers, images, charity solicitations, and being a jerk are all banned from DB Gaming. The Gif, Sticker, and image ban is non-negotiable. I stated in this news post what the rules of engagement were. I have now made it relatively simple: Only admins can post images. If you have something you think should be posted, ask me or a member of my staff.
The staff has 24 hours from the time you submit gaming activity to approve it. If your submission has been sitting for longer than that, there is a problem. If it hasn’t, there is no problem. The staff do their best to process gaming submissions as quickly as possible, but they are real people with real lives. I do not expect them to sit behind a computer processing gaming submissions all day, and neither should any of you.
Solo submissions are never acceptable for Clusters of Earth/Fire. My staff and I will reject any that come in. You must play with at least one other DB member, no exceptions. This is not changing any time in the near (or far) future.
Pendants of Blood are not acceptable for submission to cluster-counting competitions. If we see them, we will remand the request.
Reminder: Feel free to run Gaming competitions DB wide. Gaming is a slightly different community, and is one of the few that consistently brings club members together outside of the competitive environment. Most of the people I currently game are all in different clans. By opening up your event DB-wide, you increase the pool of possible participants, which could allow for a crescent upgrade!
Reminder: While I sincerely appreciate having proposals/great ideas sent to me via telegram, please email the staff list (email is at the bottom of this report). I ask that your House and Clan leadership take a look at your proposals before you send them up. This isn’t to add a layer of bureaucracy, it’s because I’m sure they’d like to know how you are trying to help the club improve...helps with award and promotion recommendations and all that. Feel free to cc them on your email to me and my staff.

TL;DR
Not having a PS4 or Xbox is lame. The wife and I have an air mattress, some camp chairs and are surviving on frozen dinners.
But I shouldn’t complain...we ARE moving to Hawaii after all :).
Oh. Gaming with the Fist will be making a comeback once i’m all set up. There will be a little bit more of an incentive this go around (double clusters anyone?). More on that next month!
See you all on the island!
Mahalo.
