This month, in Fist Report... GMRG End of Quarter and Accessories, Star Conflict ROC, details on an upcoming CF review, and some info on a sweet First Person Shooter for Consoles. Naturally all your standard gaming competition information and awards as well!
This is it! After 3 months of gaming the first round of Fourth Echelon Guardsman are... going to be announced soon!
Our ever vigilant Seneschal will be running the query for the first time sometime this weekend, as this is a new bit of code we want to make sure everything fires off properly the first time and to have our Coding folks on hands to fix anything that breaks.... like the entire site... just in case... savy?
I'll be out with family this weekend returning on Sunday, so expect a short follow up report from me then with a list of all the newly promoted 4th Echelon Guardsman. Those individuals will receive an email from me shortly after that news post with details on what Accessories are available and the order the selections will be made.
While you wait why don't you check out the Dark Council Guardsman Accessory Images? Each accessories "name" is subject to change, and there will likely be some additional detail on what the accessories do added at a later date. I'm sure someone will ask so... currently these aren't supported items or weapons in the ACC. This may or may not change, depending on how Pravus and Mav want to play it.
The info in the Rites of Combat for this game is short, currently applying only to the PVP Matches. The Cluster of Fire wiki page has also been updated. Nothing has changed since the competition that was run last month, so no surprises for any of the Star Conflict players out there.
July will be a month where we look over how we awards Diablo 3 and TOR CFs and ensure that the awarded amounts are still in line. As each platform's review is finished I'll toss a news post up informing you all of if there have been changes and what they are. Stay tuned as we work our way through these two platforms.
Some folks may have already heard about this game, others may not have. Destiny is going to be a FPS game, based in Earth's future with many Sci-Fi flavors, but with an MMO twist to it.
There are three character classes you can choose from which will influence how you fight, here's what I've found on them so far. The Titan is your close range class, they can take a beating and their special abilities are more melee focused. The Hunter is a variable range class, who can focus on close range or longer range abilities, although they can't take as many hits as the Titan can. Lastly is the Warlock, a Ranged class who focuses on arcane powers that look really cool. Now, I've read you can build a Close Range Warlock if you really felt like it, but have also read that they wouldn't be quite as powerful as a Titan could be at close range. So there is quite a bit of freedom, I think.
Of course there's a standard storyline Campaign to complete. As you move through it you'll gain access to more locations across our Solar System. Mars, Venus, and the Moon are all locations to explore.
Several different types of PvE Co-Op content will be available. Public Events will spontaneously happen across the world(s), allowing other players to team up and complete a difficult objective. For smaller, more personal events there are Strikes. This is a group of 3 players who run mission to take out a boss, kind of like a TOR Flashpoint or Operation.
Naturally, it wouldn't have an MMO twist if there wasn't upgradeable gear you can earn along the way. Gear both improves your stats and changes your characters in game appearance, so everyone else knows just how awesome you are by looking at you.
Of course there will PvP as well. They call this the Crucible, looks similar to a Warzone, but I'm not sure what team sizes are yet. No word on if smaller scale Arena style matches will be available, or if Clans will be options.
Now the bad news, the game doesn't come out until September 9th. I know, all this cool stuff and you need to wait for it. Or do you... Pre-Orders from select retailers will allow access to the Open Beta which (for PS3 & PS4) starts on July 17th, shortly after that for Xbox. Sorry PC only gamers, no soup for you this time.
So the next question on peoples minds is probably are we as a Club going to support this game, if so how? Well, frankly I don't know yet. If there's interest in the game we can easily adopt a Strike / Crucible rewarding system similar to how Flashpoints and Warzones work in TOR. First lets see who's interested in picking this up.
Oh, heres the Official E3 Gameplay Experience Trailor check it out, its only 7 minutes and looks pretty sweet. The other videos on the media page are worth a few minutes too if it looks interesting. I'll be in Beta later this month on PS4 and will give another review after playing it then. My PSN ID is in my Dossier, shoot me a friend invite if you'll be on there too.
Gorefest will to start on Friday, July 18th. The Competition will be live on the site later this evening. As a reminder, any member of the GMRG can compete and earn bonus CFs for any Gaming activities
