A report which includes details on the latest changes to the TOR Guild Rank system, a trial of CF awards for Destiny (with competition!), Diablo 3 Brawling (PVP) CF support, and info on a Rebel Star Wars Commander Squad. Standard competition results and upcoming competitions now included for your viewing pleasure.
For the third TOR installment we have the new Member Rank System. I'm only going to list information on Ranks that have had something change related to them.
The wiki will be updated to reflect these changes shortly.
By my last count fifteen members of the DJB Destiny group have Guardians that are out there trying to save the last city. I just sent out another round of PSN friend requests, so if you're playing Destiny on a Playstation and didn't get one from me let me know (or just add me, my PSN ID is listed in my Dossier). I'd say about 7-10 of the folks playing are PS4 types, that's just a rough guess. The Xbox Clan is still on "Probation" from Bungie, it hasn't met the minimum number of members to be considered a Clan yet. If you're playing on Xbox (or PSN) make sure to select "Set as Xbox Clan" (or PSN Clan) from our DJB Destiny Clan Page.
I've also posted some Feedback on the Bungie Site requesting that they implement an in-game display of the Clan Roster and an option for Clan Voice Chat. Right now you can only see / group with someone if they are your PSN friend or in the same game instance as you. If you've got a Bungie account take a second to reply to this post and like it so it catches the dev's eyes. I think this would be a change we'd all like to see.
Considering the amount of DJB players in this game I'm going to give it a go and see if there's interest in making this a supported platform. The Gaming Submissions page has been edited to allow submissions of activities completed with 2 or more DJB Club Members. Currently covered are Story Missions, Strikes, and Crucible Matches. The CF rewards for each of these activities is relatively low currently, this is more an opportunity for you to "vote" for Destiny as a platform than earn CFs. If we see enough interest I'll work up a more balanced system based on time to complete different modes of play.
A screenshot is going to be required to receive CFs, it should be of the Summary screen that comes up after you complete one of the listed activities. Make sure you and any other DJB members in your group have their PSN or Xbox ID listed on their Dossier. No ID listed means no CF approvals from the Fist Office.
This trial will run for approximately one month, ending on October 15th. A competition, similar to what was done with Star Conflict, for who earns the most CFs is going to be starting shortly (I'll add link once its live). The Gaming Submission tables have been updated, to submit Destiny activities select PVE then Destiny Matchmaking..
There's been some recent interest in Diablo 3 Brawling. Here's the short version of what you need to know:
The Gaming Submission table has been updated, to submit Brawling Scores select PVP then Diablo 3 Brawling. The wiki will be updated to reflect these changes shortly.
Good news for anyone who would like to or has been playing as the Rebel faction on Star Wars Commander. Liam has created a Rebel faction Squad which is now available to join! Please include your Dossier Name and ID in your request, I'm sure he's getting spammed with request currently.
On the Imperial front the Star Wars Commander Squad is doing well, we've actually capped out at 32 of the allowed 30 members (voodoo?). Unfortunately that also means we can't accept any more join requests. If there is anyone out there who would like to create another Squad for the members of the Club to join let me know the name and details and I'll add it in to our list, which is soon to be wiki-fied. Here's the current one:
Empire Squad(s):
Rebel Squad(s):
Helpful advice for new players: Save your Gemstones to buy a 3rd Droid ASAP! You can earn more gems by removing debris from around your base and by completing Storyline missions. An extra Droid is a huge help to upgrading your base.

I'm considering changing the name of this section of my report to "Rial wins".

Awesome report Val! Great changes, but I'm most excited for Destiny! My PSN is Ernordeth. I think I got everyone but feel free to add me too
Whoo hoo! Destiny CFs! Time to go like and comment that post too...
Congrats Rial! :)
Guess you didn't get my email
Commander is live for android users
I'd like to request that while everyone is loving Commander, we also keep an eye on Assault Team. Both are solid mobile platform Star Wars games with competition potential. Multitasking!
Yeap, Commander is now live on both Android and Windows (I have it on my Windows 8.1 tablet, I don't know about Windows Phone though.)
Squads are cross platform (I can see and request to join the now full Imperial Squad), so it may pay to create a second Imperial one if there is about to be an influx of a number more DB players.
I support the movement toward calling the PoB section "Rial Wins" :P
Haha I can't help winning and as Turel can tell you I welcome the challenge from others.
Brim - your email was eaten by the Sarlaac of other emails I receive, I meant to include that info in this report. Thanks for including it here.
Aabs - I log into Assault Team periodically also to check for any new special events. Lately I haven't seen anything coming from it though. If you see an event running or about to start feel free to let me know.
I also support the movement for the Rial Wins section! #TarentumMomentum, baby!
"Rial wins (at Pazaak)" would be more accurate :P
For those, like me, who are still puttering around on their PS3s and 360s Bungie has a deal where if you buy a PS3/360 digital copy via PSN or Xbox Live you will get the cooresponding next gen (PS3>PS4 and 360>XB1) version for free and your character will transfer within the same console family. Details here. This promotion expires on 15 January, but you still keep licences to current and next gen copies if you purchase before then.
I'm going to be the lone voice of dissent here and say that if you haven't purchased Destiny yet, do your homework beforehand. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, a combination of over hype and a slew of poor design choices and missed opportunities from Bungie has left me severely underwhelmed. I think Angry Joe's review of Destiny hits the nail on the head regarding the frustration and disappointment. I know I'll probably enjoy it more once I move from PS3 to PS4 and can team up with my boi Sight, but the utter inability to communicate with anyone not on your friends list is unforgivable in my eyes.
My TL;DR take on Destiny is that if you are the type of person who loves grinding Diablo rifts for gear (nothing wrong with that) then Destiny is perfect you. If you come into it expecting a fully polished Bungie game with a robust feature set and an engrossing story prepare to be disappointed.
And then there's this guy....
I hate that guy.
Tried watching the review. He made some decent points early on that I can't disagree with, but I got tired of goatee man yelling at me after 5 minutes or so. I guess that's why he does angry reviews.
IGN put out what I felt was a pretty decent and fair review of Destiny, that I agree with. I like gear grinds and don't mind waiting a bit longer for more content, so I'm still happy with the game despite some shortcomings.
I never played Halo or other Bungie games. I have played no other games since it's release. I feel the game deserves about 8/10 as it stands and will continue to get better. I do own it on PS4 though and have people to go play strikes with. Level 26 almost 27 here :)
I will say this though, Destiny PVP (aka the Crucible) is amazing. It reminds me of Halo:Reach on crack and for a game with varied levels, abilities and items feels surprisingly balanced. I leveled up twice last night in the Crucible without even realizing it.
I have a concern about D3 brawling for CF's, was I correct in reading that it is just char level within 5 and no restriction on differences in paragon lvl?
If that is the case as an experienced D3 player I have some reservations about this, while I love the idea of opening D3 up to PVP I would suggest that we make paragon levels at least to remain within 30 levels.
I submit this fictitious instance but something that could happen. I am paragon 255ish roughly, with my gear set up I do over 1 mil damage before I hit my buffs, I can solo T6 with minimal difficulty. A fresh lvl 70 depending on the gear and class can handle maybe T1. If this dual where to happen (I personally would never let this happen) it would be a completely unfair contest with the lower paragon lvl character having no chance to even put a small dent in my health.
Now I'm all for CF farming to be honest, but this just becomes unfair and could lead to abuse in the future. If I am wrong in my initial understanding then carry on good sirs, if not I would like my concern to be heard. Thanks for your time, love you all on the Fist staff (the Fist included) for all that you do to further gaming in the club.
Remember the only time you get into match dodging is if you have already played matches on that platform within the last day (or during a Vendetta Event).
If you haven't brawled, and get challenged to a brawl you can say you're not interested in it. No harm, no foul. Personally I have no interest in D3 Brawling and probably won't play it.
I understand your concerns, they're ones I had with TOR Duels and why there is a Level 55 Bracket with no restrictions and a Level 15 Bracket with gear restrictions. To even the playing field.
Honestly I don't expect brawling to take off within the Club. It's been around for probably 18 months and no one had asked about it until a week or two ago. If it does and people start submitting lots of matches for it I'm open to creating a lower level bracket with a unique rule set.
Also remember, D3 is not a Tier 1 platform. PVP in it is not included in Vendettas unless the competition specifically states otherwise.
Copied from the ROC: A member only has to accept matches on platforms of their choice, unless they have played on the challenger's platform against other opponents in the last day. If a member has played on the challenger's platform in the past day, they must accept the match; otherwise it is their right to decline the challenge.
I think that addresses some of your concern. If not let me know.
Also - to make sure I get / see your response you might want to go to email. This News Post is about to roll to page 2, which means if will likely check it less frequently, if I remember to check it at all. (I display all News as my default, so it may still be in the center of your page)
Little late in replying...meh.
Didn't get to play Destiny until this past weekend. My girlfriend's brother has it on PS3. Been hearing a lot about it at work, so I was interested. Liked it. I was surprised at how much it was similar in feel to Halo and Call of Duty. So, the FPS aspect of it I took to right away, and thoroughly enjoyed. Having two inoperative 360's at the moment...yeah, not gonna be getting this game, or any game for that matter, any time soon. Hell, I haven't bought a game in over a year!
But, when I do get my 360's working or replaced, you can bet your ass I'll be getting Destiny! Then I might have a reason to join the GMRG...hmm...
