Pingable LFG Roles Added to Discord

Pingable Looking for Group or LFG roles is something that members have asked for since we moved to Discord. I'll admit my own bias as an old curmudgeon who never opts into roles like that in the servers I'm in. So I was "we don't do that here" for longer than I should have. Eventually, I noticed members pinging lists of everyone they could remember playing a certain game for things like LFG or news about that particular game and inevitably some would respond with "hey you left me out." The need is there.

James has implemented a few roles to test out this feature. Currently we have Helldivers, DBD and other as pingable LFG roles.

To add these roles go to settings in the top left of our Discord server

Click the manage optional roles and channels button and then expand the box to make the selections you wish to opt in or opt out of.

To ping a role (preferably in #gaming-chat or #gaming-matchmaking) type @lfg in the text box and select the role you want from the pop-up.

We will test with these roles for a bit while we look at what's feasible as far as can we have roles for all platforms and if not how do we decide which roles to have. This is a new feature for our community so we will have to shake out the social norms and etiquette as we go. It is my hope that this feature will help members with similar gaming interests find one another and maybe find some new people to group with.
