Effective Immediately Any variation of Tic Tac Toe on any website will no longer be accepted for Casual Gaming Queue clusters. The relevant policy wiki has been updated to reflect this
This is the part of the job I don't like but balance must be maintained. Tic Tac Toe has been a bit of an issue since Casual Queue started, it became the de facto floor for the value of a cluster. For the most part members, mostly non-gamers, used Tic Tac Toe as a quick means of getting participation in so I left it alone. It was always in the back of my mind when balancing or making decisions on what is acceptable for Casual Queue, informally I thought of it as the "Tic Tac Toe" standard. Members even mention the game specifically when advocating for balance changes to me. While I will try to do my best to keep support of a game people are playing and having fun with, like the adjustment to Cards Against Humanity, in this particular war Tic Tac Toe has presented too much of a balance issue with too little benefit to continue to support. The fact an entire weekly cap of clusters can be played in an hour is nothing short of game-breaking and must be addressed.
Also this is a larger issue than any particular member or competition and arguably has been a long time coming.
Remember, above all else please remember to have fun.
