The Left Wing of Dread Sends

Ah February. It’s almost time for Hallmark’s favorite time of year. Have you bought the heart-shaped box o’ chocolate and the over-priced flowers for your loved one yet?

There’s plenty to talk about this month, so let’s dive right in!

Position Open: BTL for the Disciples of Dreypa

Our own Kalon was recently selected as the new Aedile for House Karness Muur. Kalon has done extremely well as our BTL, and I’m certain he will be a great addition to the HKM summit. With Kalon’s departure, I am officially opening up the application window for the position of Battle Team Leader for the Disciples of Dreypa.

I am opening up applications Plagueis-wide for this positionl. The application period will run from now until Monday, 15 February 2016 at 11:59 PM EST (GMT -5). Over the course of this application period, I reserve the right to make an early selection if an applicant wows me with an awesome application.

What you should include in your Application

• A little bit about yourself. Personality is key as this is a social club. I have to know that you're going to get along with the team.
• What makes you an ideal candidate? Why do you want this position?
• A minimum of three ideas on ways to generate activity in the battle team. Show me that you can plan and think. I want someone who takes initiative, not someone who holds a position just to hold a position.

Desired Qualifications

In terms of qualifications, here’s what I’m looking for at a minimum:

• Minimum rank of JM3 (Hunter/Padawan/Yeoman/Lieutenant)
• 24 hour email turn around time
• A true desire to improve the enjoyment of this club for the members of the House

Additional (not required, but good to have) qualifications:

• Have taken (and passed) the Leadership exams in the Shadow Academy
• 12 hour email turn around time
• Telegram & Skype/Google Hangout access
• Prior leadership experience at BTL or higher
• Basic familiarity with most or all DJB activity systems (SA, ACC, Gaming, etc.)
• Show me that you know how to have fun

What I’m really looking for is someone who is a team player who understands that the primary goal of leadership within this club is to ensure our members are enjoying themselves. I’m not looking for a subordinate, I’m looking for a solid leader who can bring fresh ideas to the House Summit, and who is willing to go the extra mile to help the members of the Battle team.

The Run-on is still going on! You guys have really put out some great posts. Keep them coming! The Tides of Darkness will continue up to the beginning of the feud with Clan Odan-Urr, with a final post from Eiko and myself to close it out prior to the feud kicking off. Ask The Left Wing

In line with some of the other leaders in the DB, I’m going to start including an “Ask the Left Wing” section to my reports. I got some great questions from everyone over telegram, and I promised to answer anything asked of me to the best of my ability. So without further ado…

Tra’an asks:

Q: What kind of events can we expect from the feud? How long will it run?

A: Teylas said it best in his report, but I think we can expect some of the usual fare. Fiction, Graphics, Gaming, Puzzles, and all of that. Length is looking like at least a month, maybe more depending on the number of rounds.

Q: What are you currently listening to?

A: Whatever helps me lift weights. Mostly old-school rap and hair metal. I did have the “Epic Rap Battles of History” channel playing on my Pandora the other day.

Slags asks:

Q: Why hast thou forsaken the Skype Cave?

A: So. Much. Destiny.

Kelly asks:

Q: What did the left wing say to the right wing?

A: “I re-wrote your fiction.” --Eiko

Areticus asks:

Q: If we want to bring new ideas to the brotherhood, what elements would be appropriate for consideration? For example gaming, If I find a sci-fi relevant or something popular to add to the brotherhood's selection, what would I look for?

A: Write up a proposal and send it over to the FIST staff for review. Check out the Leadership: Proposals course in the Shadow Academy for a good way to work a proposal.

Q: Any news concerning Discord?

A: This is more of a FIST-staff question, but I’ll say we’re still looking at it. Nothing really concrete to tell you.

Kul’tak asks:

Q: Any word down the grapevine on mobas coming to the DJB?

A: I know a bunch are being looked at. Look at the past Gaming reports that Ernordeth has put out. There is a link to a G-Doc that allows you to give input on MOBAs.

Kalon asks:

Q: Do we need more cowbell?

A: Absolutely. It is the only prescription to soothe my fever.

Felix asks:

Q: What's the chance of getting into space dogfights in the upcoming battle with Odan Urr?

A: Depends on the events. Normally, for PVP gaming, we use games that everyone can access. So that means a lot of Pazaak and Jedi Academy. For PVE events (cluster races), any approved game works, so you could potentially see some Fighter Squadron from the new Battlefront game, or even some X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter or X-Wing Alliance games.

Q: Can at some point Felix be referred to as 'Order 66'?

A: No. But I will call you Fix-it-Felix.

Q: Are we going to eat Jedi? And if so, would barbecue or lemon baking them be recommended?

A: Gross. And BBQ is the only way to do it. Drac is a Memphis-boy, after all.

Q: So since this is the end of the sporting ball season what is there to do on a Sunday night?

A: Super Fun Time Dance Party!

Final Thoughts

This club is only as good as its member base. You guys are an awesome group of people and I am reminded each and every day how lucky I am to be able to serve as your Quaestor. I sincerely hope that all of you will come out and participate in the upcoming feud events. Placement is going to matter this go around, but just coming out and taking part in the events has its benefits, too. Do stuff that’s outside of your comfort zone. Try something new! Let’s show Clan-Odan Urr how we do things here in Plagueis!
