Introduction

Hello all you Dark Siders, Light Siders, and every shade of Grey between! For those who have not had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with me, I am the hapless fool who convinced Mav and Vyr that I was the best man for the job of Headmaster. I have been a part of the DJB since roughly 2000, and have been in a variety of House and Shadow Academy related positions. Most recently I was part of COU, and pestered Farrin relentlessly as his Praetor.

While this is my first report, you can see the little 0.5 off to the side. This isn't going to be a full report, but one to get a few tantalizing details out to everyone and a hiring posting.

I need help!

Beyond the obvious, I really do need help in the form of a Praetor. The ideal person for the position is someone with:

• Leadership experience as you will be tasked with overseeing the work of Magistrates as well as the Professors.
• Project management experience. There are some fairly big projects on the horizon, and I will need help in keeping things on track from time to time.
• Quick email and Telegram turnaround time.
• Ability to think for independently. I do not want or need a yes-person.
• Solid command of the English Language as you will help assist PROF’s from time to time with course audits.
• Not currently positioned higher than QUA. I need you to focus on the Academy.

I will gladly accept real life experience over DJB experience if needed, so do not sweat it if you are relatively new to the club. I also do not have a minimum rank requirement, however, you need to think very hard about your RL experience and express how you've done what you've done in writing to me. On rank, I am really looking for someone who is EQ4 or less. I apologize to those who are Elders, but I am really keen on grooming new leaders for the DJB and this is one of the better ways.

In your application I also want to get your ideas and issues on the current state of the Shadow Academy, as well as possible fictional direction. I'm not saying it will be used, but it gives me an idea on how well you can think independently and offer advice.

It's because of all the dust in here

For quite some time now the Shadow Academy has had an odd relationship with the membership. Fictionally some people think that we shuttle new people to the clans, but that honestly makes no sense with Clans like COU or Taldryan who have light siders. We are also viewed as something like a sci-fi Library of Alexandria, full of old tomes and holocrons. While we still want to maintain the idea of a library, the idea is for some of us old, dusty bookworms to get out enjoy some sunlight on various worlds and drag some members with us…...

Conclusion

I do want to thank the DC for giving me this chance, as well as those who have helped me get to this esteemed office. I also want to apologize for the lack of contact from those who have reached out. I had some family issues arise that could not be avoided. I'll wrap this all up with the words of that Farrin guy.

The Shadow Academy is an amazing resource, created and administered by some imperfect human beings who strive for perfection. We try our best to catch and fix any and all errors before we release courses, but we're not always successful. Because of that, we will always need your help. If you spot an error, please report it to the SA Staff using this simple form; if it's a major enough error, or you spot enough, you'll be rewarded. With cookies.
