Crunch time

The big news of the month is the launch of the new Path and Order system that's been in the works for the past few months. If you looked at the timeline in Mav's report, you'll see that the Shadow Academy is going to have three new Order CORE courses launched by Monday, with revisions to DB Basics. We're also going to be shifting the old COREs to the new Department of Legends. As of today, only DB Basics remains in the Department of CORE Studies -- the other six old COREs now reside in Legends. As the new COREs are finalized, they will be added to the CORE Department. Once all five Order COREs are complete, I'll revist the degree structure (particularly for the Lore Maven) and make changes as needed.

New PROF Needed

I am going to start accepting applications to be the new Professor of CORE Studies. This person will take over primary grading responsibilities for DB Basics and the three soon-to-exist Force-user Order COREs, and will help my team plan and write the two remaining non-Force COREs. This job will require strong organization and writing skills, and a quick (24 hour max) turnaround on grading. Beyond that, no specific requirements. Please send your applications to me and Ood no later than 11:59pm EDT, September 5. I reserve the right to pick someone before that time or to extend the deadline if necessary.

New Courses

Finally, if you haven't noticed already, two new Astronomy courses are now live thanks to Zednich and Lexiconus. Go check out Planets and Moons and Regions of the Galaxy. Once the new CORE push is complete, we'll be turning some attention back to the other Astronomy courses currently on the backburner, so look for more here this Fall.

Conclusion

As always, I'd like to close this report by asking for your help. The SA is a massive wall of text that covers ever-shifting topics and is prone to typos and run-on sentences. If you spot substantive or grammatical problems, please let me, Ood, and the course PROF know so that we can fix them ASAP. As we work through the Departments during the audit, we're also going to be asking for help reading and editing -- if you have any particular expertise, let us know when we announce the next Department being audited. There are shiny things available. :P
