This report's shout out goes to Scarlet.

Why? Well, Scarlet has volunteered to design robes for the Herald's office. She will produce unique and original designs for us to present in future releases. Not only that, she has been very active in the DB Art Club helping members with character images and such. She even got an award for it ;)

The second shout-out has more to do with a certain wager, shall we say. About a month ago, Cethgus got himself a Warhammer 40000 miniature (if you can call it "mini") called "Warhound Titan". The wager was, if he could assemble and paint it in record time, i'd feature his accomplishment in my report.

Incoming: Herald Style Hanukkah 2015!

It's December, finally, and December is a very busy month for us Herald types. Everyone and their mother — including those living under a rock, and their rock — knows that December is a month of many shiny things such as weapons, robes and the like. This December is no different.

The last Herald Style Hanukkah ever will start on the 18th, on the day Episode 7 debuts, and will last until Christmas on the 25th. Expect many new shinys, as well as some related to the movie itself.

We strive to have original designs, most of the time. Inspired, sure, but I can't promise anything at this point. Maybe in the future.

Honestly? I'm waiting to see if that saber design is unique to Kylo Ren. Otherwise we already have one on the selector.

Terran asks: Why are you making us design custom weapons for the competition? Isn't that your job? :P #AskTheHerald

Indeed it is, and the winning designs provided by the comp will be re-rendered into a format that is acceptable for the site (unless they are already to standard) for everyone to enjoy. The main reason why I do these comps like this is to scout talent.

Really it's the only way to do it, short of poking unit leaders for pointers. I've already discovered 2-3 potential Magistrates with the Day of the Fox comp, more will come from this one, I think. I search for talent and enforce it so that the Club has a healthy pool of artists to take up the torch when I inevitably step down. It is also refreshing to have different design ideas brought in from the outside.

Qyreia asks: #AsktheHerald How do you feel, as a Neti or a Brotherhood member, about the purging of the so-called "undesirables?"

OOC I think it's a good step towards the true Sith story. it's direct and bold and it creates conflict between the many factions in the Club. it has potential for good stories, directly or indirectly related.

IC it's a very different story. Vorsa's opposition to the policy is blatantly obvious, however she can do little to change it officially. What she can do it use underhanded tactics to save as many lives as she can, and that's what she does. You'll be able to read more in the upcoming RO.

well, for one, if they have Telegram they should join the DB Art Club. If they do not, i'm always available to help anyone interested in learning. It's a very individualistic approach, really. i have to evaluate what sort of talents you already have before I can properly help you or point you in the right direction. This is true for any artist, though, and anyone in the DB Art Club will tell you as much.

There will be rebel-like weapons for sure, though — used, battered, old, etc.

There will be, yes. What they'll be...well you'll have to wait and see, i guess.

This is not at all an easy thing to do, otherwise it'd be everywhere. There are plans to create an SA exam some time next year, but that is low priority at the moment.

No. Accessories are reserved for Societies (GMRG, Inquisitorius, SA) and the occasional DB wide Dark Council run event, such as this December event,

It really depends. If you want a special weapon that's not typical and I have some trouble with, I may involve the Voice for approval since you will be using and referencing that weapon in the ACC/fiction.

One horse sized duck. Because I can easily shoot it from afar and one bullet is enough.

Gain favor? Be an upstanding member of the club. Support your fellows. Make the Club better. These are just thing I expect you to do. It won't gain you favor in my office, but it will gain you my respect.

As for helping us out, it really depends on your skillset. Anyone can help by designing robe/saber/weapon ideas for future use, for one. They can help by making character images, headers or generally any other images for other fellow members. this greatly reduces pressure on the herald staff. Other than that you can ask questions, be interested and ambitious. One day maybe even apply for Magistrate and become part of the office. All in due time.

Very little, i'm afraid. All of our work is artistically bound insofar as gfx are concerned, however this applies for every member of the DB: Be an upstanding member of the club. Support your fellows. Make the Club better.

Support your fellow members, cheer them on, give them a challenge or help them improve. Improving the Club makes even our job easier.

Turel asks: #AskTheHerald if a member is part of a unit that wins a GJW/Vendetta, is awarded unit robes, do they forfeit said robes upon leaving the unit?

Yes, the forfeit the right to select those robes in the future, however the robes they already have will not be removed, automatically or forcefully unless they remove them themselves.

Closing word
