Herald Supplemental #2.2 - Open Positions

header

Hello everyone,

As of today, I will be accepting applications for the positions of Praetor and Magistrate to the Herald. Below you will find information about my expectations for each role as well as the due date and key points you should include in your applications. We have many budding and experienced artists in this club. I would love to see some of you take a crack at Herald-based art. There's something truly gratifying about creating artwork for your fellow members and our new team-based approach is an opportunity to collaborate directly with fellow artists, even learn from them. This can be a lot of fun.

Expectations for Magistrate

The person who is selected for the position of Magistrate must have access to and possess a basic understanding of graphic design software. They will be trained and expected to handle Warbanner requests as well as participate in the creation of other dossier images. They will work as part of a team and collaborate with their fellow staff members on membership requests as well as other projects dictated by the Herald. This may include doing sketches, laying down flat colors, and more.

This is a learning position. You do not need exceptional skills, you simply need a rudimentary understanding of art, access to suitable software (free options included), and the willingness to collaborate with and learn from your fellow staff members.

Expectations for Praetor

The person who is selected for the position of Praetor must have access to and possess a good understanding of graphic design software, preferably Photoshop. They must have the ability to draw quality weapons, robes, and accessories as well as other, more complex graphics. As a baseline, they are expected to have the capacity to create a minimum of three quality dossier images in a single month during times of high member demand. They will be called upon to lead a team of artists and collaborate with them on specific projects. They will also assist me in policy-making, including the upcoming Society overhaul. They may be asked to write or proof wiki documents. This person will represent me to their fellow members when I am unavailable and as such they are expected to act with kindness, patience, and common courtesy.

Applications

You have until midnight (site time) on April 7th to send your applications to my personal DB email.

Your application should include the following points:

  • Why you are interested in the position
  • Name of graphics/art software of preference
  • Past DB experience/roles applicable to the desired position
  • Any applicable ideas or specific interests
  • Portfolio containing examples of your work

Candidates who apply for Praetor but do not get the position may be considered for a Magistrate role instead. You may, of course, decline should the offer not interest you in the end. I would not think less of you.

A Special Thanks To My Current Staff

I want to take a moment to thank my current staff once again. Aylin, Vyr, and Socc have done a tremendous job since the beginning of the year. Everyone pitches in and contributes. It's been a real pleasure working with you guys. Keep it up!

I'd also like to thank Nora for her contributions in her time as my Magistrate. Her sketches and her work adding flat colors as part of my team helped speed up the process and allowed us to work through the backlog faster as a result.

Art is what makes everything we do seem 'real'. For those with the talent or aspirations to gain the talent I encourage you to apply and help make our Brotherhood more visual!

I will say your current staff does amazing work. My armor was a collaboration with your staff and they are great. The Sabers that Socorra did for me might be the sexiest Lightsabers ever.

Mal is great! You should join the team. Apply!
