HKM Aedile Report - June 2016

Introduction

It’s that time of the month again, folks. Time for another edition of Laren’s “Rampant Rambles”, though truly I hope I won’t be rambling too much here.

Things have happened since the last report. I know, things happened! From multiple posts in our Clan Run On (including one by myself getting the troops in line), to the Plagueis Pro Bowl (which I will touch on later), and even a quick piece about what Equites can do for our newer members, this report will be fast and ferocious. Well, fast-ish. I’ll begin with a quick roundup of special awards and promotions for our members (and leave the Crescent count to the boss-lady as it seems to be her thing) and move on from there.

Let’s start the report!

Congratulations to you folks here in House Karness Muur working hard and having a good time, leading to some well deserved shinies and elevation in rank. Also a special shout out to our newest member, Tanii Bol!

Currently, we’re coming up on the end of the Week 2 events. I don’t have much to say in terms of the Pro Bowl for members of the House, as we’re split by Team comprising members of the entire Clan, not just those of each House.

However, as usual I do want to say please participate. Dracaryis, Taranae and Kalon worked long and hard on this event, coming up with unique competitions for our enjoyment. The best thing we can do for them, and for your teams, is to get that participation in. Even if you only have ten or twenty minutes to sit down and relax, I always recommend trying the flash gaming or the trivia type competitions. They’re quick, they’re easy, and not only do you have fun, but it contributes participation points to your team.

If you need a reminder about any of the finer points of the Pro Bowl, simply check out the front page for more information.

For the Equites

I thought for my third report I would try my hand at a new piece. It’ll be brief, but I am specifically targeting the Equites both in Karness Muur and the greater Clan at large. Specifically, I want to break down some ways that you, regardless of whether you are involved with the Clan Summit or greater Brotherhood leadership, can help nurture and develop, or even introduce new Journeymen into the fold. You’re an important part of any Clan’s makeup, and it’s taken quite some time for you to reach the rank you now hold. But with rank comes some form of responsibility, even minimal, that can benefit everyone.

To begin, I’ll start with exposure. You don’t have to be the most active member to be engaging and informative. We all have our circumstances, and that’s that. All it takes to make a new Journeyman feel right at home in the Brotherhood is a quick hello in your respective chat program (Telegram for us), maybe some quick banter, answer a few questions. That’s it! I know that in my experience a few months ago, when I first joined Telegram and met the Clan, everyone from other Journeymen to Equites answered my questions, tolerated my insanity, and just generally made me feel at home. So keep your ear to the ground when you can, and it’ll do loads of good to motivate our more fresh-faced members to continue to be awesome.

As well, there’s also the age-old “leading by example”. But really, lead by example, and feel free to politely and kindly let us know about it. From a gaming sensation to a fiction fanatic, give us the scoop on your activities, why they’re fun, and how to do them (if necessary). We all seem to have our niche, but I think the best thing we can do for our membership is encourage them to develop and grow. Encourage them to become a better writer, encourage them to get better at Battlefront, etc. Well-rounded players with access to multiple mediums have that much more of a chance to earn Crescents and other awards, and most importantly, have so many more options to enjoy themselves and have a good time.

But like, in a nice way for nice new people. ;)

Moving forward

Do the things. Continue to be awesome. Pro Bowl Week 3 is right around the corner.

Until next time…

Great report. I love the section on Equites, and personally echo all of Laren's sentiments there. :)
