Greetings to my fellow Odanites and those possible lurkers from other units. Welcome to the August Edition of the Hoth Aedile Report.
As all of you are no doubt aware (unless you’ve been living under a rock), the executive decision to postpone the Great Jedi War to create a more immersive story left everyone who had been prepared for the War stumbling. I can both understand and respect this decision, however, it did leave a void. To answer this, Edgar and myself came up with Suspicion on Solyiat, as well as a plan should a similar situation arise in the future.
Before we get into the meat of this report, I’m going to reiterate two points that I made in previous reports. The first is that I maintain an open-door policy with all of my members and everything said will remain strictly confidential; leadership in the club isn’t limited to administrative tasks, such as ensuring that you receive the merit award or promotion you deserve — we review the roster once a month, with the next planned for the end of the current event. Ultimately, we’re here to serve the members within our units and ensure that you have an enjoyable experience within the club. If there’s something that you would like to see more or less of, such as a particular kind of competition, you have to tell us. Communication is the first step. (If you look at my character sheet, my character can read minds... Celevon can, not the person who writes him. I’ve yet to succeed in that particular skill. :P) As such, we can be reached via email [Cel ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Edgar ([Log in to view e-mail addresses])] or by sending us a private message on Telegram through our handles: @Celevon and @Drachen19.
If myself or one of the others within the Summit have yet to speak to you on a personal level, we are not ignoring you, nor do we dislike you. Speaking to all 33 members (I’m not counting myself or Edgar — I have enough problems without talking to myself) on a daily basis and holding a full conversation isn’t physically possible. I don’t bite much (stop laughing!), so I think I’m fairly approachable.
The second is how you can make an impact on the lore within Hoth. Whilst we certainly have wiki projects open should anyone prove interested (Again, email us or send us private messages on Telegram), you also contribute to the lore/history via participation in the competitions we run, such as our current event, Suspicion on Solyiat.
With that said, I have information on the awesomeness that is House Hoth. No fiction this month. Why? Writer’s block is evil.
For further competitions or if you’re reading this a few days after I posted my report, check here for a list of competitions. There will always be end dates attached to each competition for your ease of decision making on which competitions you would like to sign up for. All Competitions End At 1859/6:59pm CDT.
In order to avoid potential confusion, this activity is tracked from my previous report.

Droveth asks: “What’s been your favorite part of being Aedile of Hoth or COU in general?”
I think Turel asked me this last month... I would have to say that it’s a combination of the people and the fact that there’s a clean slate to work from. We don’t have over a decade of lore that’s practically forgotten, or randomly gets brought up by the ‘old timers’... Technically speaking, I’d be considered that now, having been in the club almost seven years, but I’m talking about those who are even ‘older’. They know who they are. Conversations usually start with ‘Back in my day’ or ‘When I was a wee Journeyman’. :P
Nero asks: “What goes good with venison?”
Generally speaking or do you want a recipe? I have a stew recipe.
In a large pot, drizzle three tablespoons of olive oil over a high heat. Two pounds of venison chopped into one inch cubes, tossed in a mixing bowl with 1/4 cup of flour and a blend of spices (paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, dried thyme and dried oregano). Sear the meat for 2-3 minutes, then add two cups of diced onions. Saute for two minutes, then add two cups of chopped celery and carrots (onions, celery and carrots are the northern ‘trinity’, compared to the southern that uses green bell pepper instead of carrots) and let those cook another two minutes. Add a tablespoon of chopped garlic, a cup of chopped tomatoes (peeled and seeded), a tablespoon of each freshly chopped thyme and basil, as well as two bay leaves. Freshly crack some salt and pepper at this point, if you think you will need it. Deglaze the pan with a cup of merlot (lovely red wine), followed by four cups of beef stock. Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce and simmer the stew for 45 minutes to an hour (until the meat is tender). If the liquid reduces too much, add more beef stock to get the consistency you want. (I have an actual recipe written down somewhere if anyone wants it)
Serve in a bowl over a bed of rice, with some bread for dipping. I recommend having it with a nice glass of the same merlot you used to deglaze the pan and a cigar afterwards.
Turel asks: “When is a good time for me to kidnap you for a road trip?”
If it’s for longer than a weekend, I need to plan 2-3 weeks in advance and schedule it with my boss.
Immediately after, Jack/Yuki asks: “Are you going to visit?!”
If Turel kidnaps me... I don’t think I’ll have much choice in the matter. Ask him. :P
Edgar asks: “In your few months here, how do you see Hoth shaping up against the rest of the club? What are the good things we have and what do we need to work on?”
If you’re asking what I think you’re asking, we still need to do a lot of preparatory work before we’re ready to take over the wor— the rest of the club, Pinky. :P Are you pondering what I’m pondering?
As far as strength and weaknesses go... We have good numbers and our members have varied skills, some more balanced than others. On the flip side, we need to work on our time management skills and not procrastinate as much (yes, I’m included in this number. :P). We also need to get our wiki game on in areas such as Solyiat, so newer members can get a better picture of the area they’re writing their characters into. (Yes, my not so subtle way to remind people to volunteer for wiki work!)
That’s all for this month, lads and ladies. I’ll catch you next month... Don’t make me try to catch you. I’m told the fake pokeballs I was given after a cosplay event hurt when they bounce off of your head.
