Introduction - A new BT, COU/TAL Event and New (and Old) Faces!

So there is so much to cover this month and to start things off I’d like to formally introduce House Hoth’s new Aedile Celevon Edraven Erinos who joins COU from Arcona to help me run the House and help me complete many tasks that need to be done. Then there is Takota Okami aka Seraphol who if you didn’t know was the first QUA of Hoth and a former Knight Commander of the Knights of Allusis. He accepted the position as the new Battleteam Leader for our soon to be launched battleteam (more on that in a second).

Both of these gentlemen have a busy schedule ahead and they are both already making headway on the many different things they need to accomplish. I appreciate their experience and skillset that they bring to Hoth and with the improvements, I already see happening, I know we will have a very strong future ahead of us.

Now, as we all know, our current battleteam the Knight of Allusis (KoA) is being converted to a NPC unit in favor of a brand new battleteam. Details are not set in stone yet and Takota will be releasing more information to the House shortly. As of now, all I can say about the new team is that we are currently working on finalizing things. We are officially going the Mercenary route with this new Battleteam, with them providing both COU and the Lotus Resistance with some needed roles fictionally. I ask that everyone bears with us right now as we work to finish up with things. There is a competition being run for the official name of the Battleteam. You can find the details here. Remember that this is your chance to make an initial and lasting impact on the BT, House, and Clan.

As for other happenings, the Coop Clan Event Desperate Measures has ended and the results should be released soon (™). So keep an eye out for an announcement from Turel.

Lastly, as you might remember Jasper and I hyped a little event to celebrate spring in my last report. This was to help fill the gap just in case the Cooperative Event was delayed. So since it wasn’t, that little event was pushed back. So, for the next two weeks a little easy and fun mini-event will take place. The Blooming of Solyiat, it will have just a few puzzles, flash games, a mobile comp and a little Art contest. I hope to see a few entries comp in especially for the Art comp. Heck, if any are really good, we just might use them for the Wiki.

General News

• I would be amiss not to mention this and I STRONGLY recommend every House member read this gaming notices from The GM, Diablo 3 and Drac’s Destiny post. My best advice on these plus anytime you think something seems fishy or not right with anything or any member is reach out to you House/Clan Summit or the corresponding Dark Council Staff. We are all here to to help you and to ensure a fun, safe and fair club for all so please when in doubt reach out!

• Turel’s Consul report should always be a must read along with our dear Rollmistress’ Report . I just warn you to ignore the bad artwork for yours truly. :)

• Don’t miss the new FIST Report as well it goes into details on the previously mentioned gaming notices and gives teasers about gaming in the upcoming GJW!

• The Regent dropped a new report, this time he goes over the credit supply, new items and upgrades?! Go check it out,

• The Herald Report, made comments about the recent Art tournament they ran, which was won by none other than our very own Jasper Arlow. You can read all the results in Arcia’s Shroud War - Wrap Up!. More importantly came the news that our dear Esca/Arcia/C’ree stepped down from his P:Herald position due to RL. In response to this, the Herald will not open the position to applications and when the time is right self-appoint the new P:Herald.

• The Headmaster’s Report details some new courses, the SA reorganization project and some staffing changes.

• The Voice’s Report, gives a review of the new Thrawn book and introduces 2 new species you can play as Devaronian and as an Ewok?!?

• ALSO the Praetor to the Voice position is NOW OPEN for Applications! Make sure you read this notice for all the details and remember the application deadline is June 9th, 2017!! Only 5 days from now!

• The MAA’s report should be looked as well. There have been some changes to some policies and clarifications on organizers participating in their own comps. So go read it!

The Scimitar of Lord Hoth May results

This month saw a large surge in points that were many due to everyone cramming in activity for the Co-op event. Seeing all of this activity was a trial by fire for our new Aedile, but Celevon took the task and ran with it. He revamped the spreadsheet and got the scores figured out within a shorter timeframe than I expected. So a big thank you to Celevon for getting this done quickly.

Just as a reminder all event participation points were crediting for May while any event awards will count towards the June totals. Also both Yuki Suoh and Takota Okami only earn points when they join the rejoined the House membership. Any activity during their time in the House summit (Yuki) or in House Shan (Takota) was not counted in their totals.

This month we had 12 members earn points with 7 of you earning over 100 points! I’m extremely proud to see so many of you came out to support the clan in the event! You guys are awesome

So for this month the Scimtar of House Hoth is Ka Tarvitz with Droveth Kathera Vectivi taking 2nd And Takota Okami rounding out the top 3.

Member of the Month

This month, our star member was Droveth Kathera Vectivi. For those of you who have not seen him on Telegram, he goes by Wade and generally speaks on occasion. The reason he was chosen as Member of the Month? Droveth returned from the Rogues at the end of last month (April) and dove right into the fray. In the time since he transferred to Hoth, he has participated in a number of competitions and flooded our inboxes with a plethora of messages. With those emails, Droveth took eleven Shadow Academy Courses, earning the Mavens for both Writing and Philosophy, another earning him the Savant of Writing and Philosophy. Not to mention taking 2nd place in the Scimtar of House Hoth competition! This amount of activity, straight from nearly a year in the Rogues, is something we should all look up to and hope to attain. Congratulations Droveth. :)

Ask Edgar

• Tisto asked - Do you have any advice for anyone who has some part of their character they would want to be integrated into clan, house, or world lore be it current or past?

Well, this is a tough one to answer because it depends on the level and scope of integration you’re talking about. It can be a slight connection with a group, unit or a specific event that affected the entire Clan that you can use. The easy example is the loss of New Tython. Edgar remembers the time spent in Purity Rock trying to free KoA from the prison camp.

But then there are examples, such as Lambow — a leader of the Clan’s Wookie tribe — and Luna (Turel’s alternate character), who is the leader of the Okami Mandalorian Clan and now Takota Okami (aka Seraphol), who is part of that Mando Clan as well.

So, my big advice would be approach members that have successfully integrated and follow their examples or just ask your House/Clan summits for a sanity/logic check on your ideas as well. The main things you have to keep in mind is that you can do anything (within reason) to flesh out your backstory to make your character more fun to write. Just don’t go too far with it and try to stay within already existing history/units and NPCS. We have plenty of groups that are ripe for growth and expansion, in which, Celevon and I would love to work with anyone looking to add more to our lore.

For any member looking to create a whole new group or faction, this can be discussed but would be under higher scrutiny. Such things would need to make sense and logically work, depending on the scope you wish to attain. If it’s a personal development thing, such as creating an orphanage that your character visits now and then, no one will bat an eye. On the other hand, if it’s some sort of group that you want to have a constant or major interaction with the House/Clan, then you must prepare a full proposal and submit it for discussion by the House and potentially the Clan Summits. Though any member with a specific idea is welcome to ask Celevon and I first, so that we may point you in the right direction.

• Hiset asked - Just to get to know you a bit better when you first joined the DJB did you have any short or long term goals? And in the last 3 years that you've been a member have you accomplished them all?

This is actually a funny story but I will try not to make it to long. See, I originally joined the EH when SWTOR was in Beta and spent a few years on that side of the fence and it was fun playing a Sith. This is also where I met and became friends with Turel as well. Anyway, one day we checked out the DJB and said let’s join as a goof and check out this lightside house thing, yes we were lightside curious, cause such a thing is bound to fail in a DARK Jedi club. So we joined (if you look at our pins we are 1 number off) anyway. We joined and immediately our original reason melted away; we flew through the early ranks, met some fun people but, more importantly, we were engaged and active. So, my short term goal of popping in to learn about the DJB and leave laughing failed because, as you can tell, I’m still here.

Another goal I had was never to get back into leadership - FAIL!

It honestly wasn’t until April 2, 2014 when I was forced to change my name from Brain the Fist to Edgar. From that day on, I made a promise to myself that the only job I wanted in this club what to become the FIST so I can get my name back. So this is still in progress. :)

So, to summarize my answer your question: no, I have not accomplished the original goals that I set for myself But I’m glad I didn’t or I would have missed out on meeting more awesome people (except Sera and Jack) and help House Odan-Urr become a clan and become a dominant Clan in a club filled with its enemies.

In conclusion -

With the first big event of the year over, I was extremely happy to see so many of you turn out for it. If we keep working together, not only will Hoth grow strong, but the entire clan as well. It was very inspiring to see Odanites working together and encouraging each other during the event. It is things like this that make the entire Clan summit proud.

Clan Odan-Urr is a not just a collection of members divided into two house; we are one family and we always promote working together and never pitting one member against another or one House against the other. We all rise and fall together and I hope that every member of the Clan understands that if you ever need help all you have to do is ask and someone here WILL help you!
