Introduction - It’s time to get ready for the WAR I mean Hoth’s House Event!

So it’s a full 8 months as being the Quaestor of this great House and every month I’m astounded by the activity, excitement, teamwork and House spirit you all show every day. If it’s not overwhelming numbers in competitions, it’s the offers of proofreading down to the general cheerleading you all do to build up every member of the house and the Clan at large.

You all not only make Celevon and my job’s harder with everything we need to track but you all make us both extremely proud and happy to be able to create new, fun and challenging things to keep you busy and entertained. So I truly thank you all for making Hoth one of the best houses in the DJB (in my humble opinion).

The one thing I’d like to do now is to welcome all the new members of House Hoth. Thank you for choosing to join our little house of insanity and if there is ANYTHING Takota, Celevon or I can do for you or a question you need answers to, please reach out to one or all of us anytime we are here for all of the members.

OK, so the big news is obvious The Great Jedi War was delayed and by now everyone knows it. I know we were all gearing up for this huge event and for knowing the same information you all do. My feelings are this if the War was not ready and needs more time then i’m all for the delay. We all want a great event so if they need more time fine. It gives us a chance to do some work at home.

Speaking of which, with the delay we were given the opportunity to run our first solo House event in a very long time. I’ll go into this in more detail a little later but the main thing about the event is we took your feedback into consideration and are creating an event that we hope you will get a kick out of participating in.

General News

• Any GM Report is a must read and you should have have a look at it. It’s loaded with things about the war and the future of the DJB.

• Don’t miss the new FIST Report - It describes some changes to FIST competitions, Magistrate rotation and other important peies of information about gaming in the DJB.

• CNS is looking has a open Quaestor position - Applicatoins are due August 9th! If interested go check it out and if you have questions about what a QUA does or some advice please let me know.

House Hoth Event - Coming in a few days!

Ok so as a few things about the upcoming event that I’d like to be upfront with you all about. If the War happened, our plan was to use August to prep a House event for late Sept/Oct. This would have been good so we could drop some fiction updates and build up some NPC’s for you. Then things changed and we went into high gear with planning.

Then we had some questions and like always we referred to you the members about a few things, namely when to start the event, types of comps and where the action should take place. I mean we had a schedule in mind but based on your responses we were left to rethink a lot about our plans. So we switched gears obviously we push the start date back to give you a small break (a surprising popular response) and we changed the comp line up a bit. The scope didn’t really change much since you seemed to agree with us that the action should take place both on and off Solyiat. So you will have options to either work at home or out of the system.

Oh also the biggest change came from the overwhelming demand that your winning entries impact canon and that made us think long and hard about this event. We switched gears and now are going to offer more of a prequel event that you will create more of the story based on the framework we will provide. So yes your results in this event will affect the next event and so on until this story is complete.

In the end, I hope we can present an event you all enjoy and take part in helping shape our future. Oh and a feedback form will follow the event so we can improve for the next event. Oh and I guess we can share it with the Clan Summit so they can improve the next Clan event too.

Another great month for Hoth activity which was highlighted by the ACC tournament with 21 members earning points this month. It’s nice to see all of you getting out there and being activity and forcing us to do more work. It’s a great thing and I’m constantly impressed by how much you all can do.

So for this month the Scimtar of House Hoth is Droveth Kathera Vectivi with Keiji Suoh in 2nd and Tisto Kingang taking 3rd.

This month, our star member is Droveth Kathera Vectivi for winning back to back Scimitar competitions and for getting 2nd place in the The Wildcards mini event. His efforts in the new battleteam are helping shape it’s foundation for a long run within the House and the Clan.

Also by winning the Battleteam Seal design competition, it will serve as the basis of the new team seal when it’s created by the Herald staff. I look forward to seeing the final product.

Yuki Suoh asks Why you no release event on the first? Why you make Jackfruits sad?

Well I pretty much went over that in the Event portion of my report so I’m only repeating the question here to make Jackfruit a thing.

Esca Asked 2 multipart questions - First up - What do you feel is the Houses strongest activity method? (gaming, writing, art) What do you feel is the weakest?

Well not taking Celevon (Celery) and myself into account and based only on where I see scimitar points being earned. It’s more of a strange balance going back and forth between gaming and Fiction at the top of the activity bar. Gaming ebbs and flows depending on what our gamers are up too and Fiction is just a constant stream with small upticks here and there. Art I think right now has the least points being earned. A reason for that could be simply there aren’t many artists in the house or not enough Art comps for out artists. So maybe we will have to explore this after the event a little or encourage more Art comps.

Esca then asked What ever happened to the station that Hoth won during the Battle Formations event? Was that created? Was it put on hold?

As promised I spoke to Turel and got this reponse “You have it!”. After going through some quick particulars i wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t handled in the event.

Turel asks When should a leader step down / aside from a particular position?

Well, as we both know, there is no textbook answer to this, since it’s all up to the individual in question. So to start let's remove any cases of being a bad leader (like me) and let’s just assume we are talking about a beloved leader (like you). I’m sure you can agree that a good leader always has a preset date in their mind on how long they would love to remain in a position. With that comes planning and plotting for things to happen during the course of that time. If all that goes to plan and you have fulfilled all your goals a good leader should look at his unit and be true to himself and the unit and ask “Am I still needed or am I in the way of new blood?”

Lingering in a position over time hurts the unit due to a stagnation of ideas and possible loss of good talent since you are blocking their advancement. Then there is the Real life issue if RL is causing you to be MIA and preventing you from creating content for your unit then to best thing to do is be honest with yourself and step down.

In conclusion -

Again, I want to thank you all for making my time as Quaestor to be a great experience and there is much work to be done before I feel like i have accomplished something here. Until then it’s time to help bring you more awesome content and help you all prepare for the Great Jedi War whenever it comes to pass!
